Trick Stick???

Guys please tell me why they have taken out the trick stick??

Im so used to playin with the R3 stick (for that added pressure runnin)
that i still find myself using it even when i know its not there anymore.

is it just me or is anyone else frustrated as me??

Dont say trick stick, that is some annoying gimmick that fifa use in which you end up having to enter in repeat lines of code like a frigging mortal kombat finisher just to pull of a step over!

i don't know what i think of it, it does not really affect my playing much, so....but as the guy before me stated just use the left one, it does what the right one used to,

What else would u call it?? Unless i have two left hand thumbs it will be pretty hard to dash with the ball using the D-Pad and use the left stick for that added pressure. (wat the right used to do).

You know you can use the left analogue stick? You don't have to use the D-pad.

Yes theres is no difference.

But wat im sayin is past pro evo's u could dash with either and then push the right stick and it would give you that added pressure/speed and you could catch up with players or leave them. Thats not there anymore and im findin that my players are slower than the comp.

I put it to you, that you dont know the controls of old, as there was no extra controls or moves from pressing R3 for defending on PC/Xbox. There was a shirt pull, but thats different controls entirely. And nowhere in that link does it say anything about using such a control.

Take the PES6 control system – you could do the basic controls easily, but would have to use a bit of effort to pull off tricks – a direct effort-reward system which is fair.

Now, any old Joe is pulling off fancy stuff – I think this detracts from the game. Advanced players are now penalized for their abilities on the ball.

Defending – I find it hard to use defensive abilities of players to jockey attacking players, or affect their path when they’re dribbling. Could just be a case of me having to adjust more.

Please aggree with me on one/two thing? The right stick was used for tricks yes?

Yes it has, in favour of a much better manual passing, which is now really good to use, and works excellently.

In real football (not FIFA Street) accurate passing is a much more vital part of the game than tricks, therefore I think the right stick should be used for passing.

However, putting the tricks onto the left stick is irritating - as it sometimes interferes with normal play - I personally think a combination like R2 and the right stick would have been better for tricks. But it's a very small part of the game.

I haven't played PES09 yet, but I'd like to ask you something about the Manual Passing.

I gave it a try in PES6 (PS2 version) and it just didn't work properly, I was better off using the Standard Controls.

Have you tried Manual Passing in the PS2 version of PES6?? If so, is the Manual Passing better in PES09??

By the way, I also think there are better ways of arranging Dribbling Skills into the game, for one thing holding the L1 button and then using the Left Stick would be far better and Intuitive.

I haven't played PES09 yet, but I'd like to ask you something about the Manual Passing.

Good call about L1 and the left stick - that would work well.

Anyway- the manual passing in PES6 was R3 and pointing the right stick wasn't it? I didn't like that because R3 is an irritating button at the best of times, let alone pushing it in the desired direction and holding it for the perfect amount of time. I don't know about manual passing on the PS2 version of PES2009, but on the PS3, it's the same, except you don't need to hold down R3. If you come fresh from playing FIFA (which I did) it's quite irritating, as you pass instead of control the ball, etc. However, it's just brilliant. Really easy to aim, you can place it a lot easier (when using R3 for manual passing, I often just hit it directly up, down, left or right; never at an angle) and get the power down to what you want.

However, I don't use the manual passing all the time, so I am sure there are people better placed to compare it.

If you mean better than pes 2008 then i would say so yes, well at least with regards to the manual passing that comes in very use full and is executed easier.

but as mentioned before doing the roulette move and other things on the left stick, does sometimes mean you see your striker spinning like a fairy when all you wanted to do was turn left but you over shot it. :erm:
