can anyone tell what does Al mean? what is a long throw good for, the keeper always catches the ball or punch it?

AI means artificial intelligence, and basically stands for the computer controlling their team, while you play them

and long throws are useful for a lot of things, getting the ball further up the pitch etc, youll have to figure that one out by playin the game mate
