UDP-port?

WTF? I got my copy of PES5 today (29th), but can't seem to get online. When i click the "network" option in my game, the following message occurs:

Testing network environment.

After a few seconds, the following pops up:
and I quote

"Unable to transmit using UDP-port 5739. You may need to connect directly to the internet or adjust you connection device ie. router etc.
Assign DMZ, Port Mapping, Configure NAT table and other router settings to the console. Individual products may use unique terminology."

...And I don't get what I have to do in order to play online from this point.

Anyone who wants to help? Thanks in advance.

Perhaps your firewall is blocking the game from accessing the net. So you'll have to configure the firewall to allow the game access or disable it (disabling is not recommended).

Hmm... I have. My manual says that I have to allow the UDP port in my firewall settings. Done. I have to allow UPnP in my firewall settings. Done. I don't get it.

By the way - I've got a wireless network (if that's the prob.)

Turn your firewall internet settings from high down to medium.
Also allow your firewall settings to allow PES5.exe

Its always worth just disabled the firewall COMPLETELY for 1 min; then try pes5 to see if that works. That way you can tell whether that firewall IS the link in the chain causing the problems

I haven't had to make any changes at all. My firewall is set to high - I had to alt-tab out of the game to allow the game access to the internet, and the ability to act as a server.

My router (for my wireless network) is set to allow UDP acces to ports 5739 and 7000 (my old settings from PES4) and on my first attempt yesterday, I was able to connect online.

Make sure your router is set to allow UDP access to 5739, and using the Settings option for Pro Evo (in the start menu folder it created, (the little box where you set up controls etc. and the screen size before even loading up the game) that under the Online tab you have left the UDP port as automatic (5739 is the automatic port), with UPnP enabled.

I'm off to eat.

Ok. I have tried to disable my firewall (windows) completely for a short amount of time. During this, I ran PES5, but with the same result as before.

I have checked that in the settings menu, everything are as Sweey says. Although when i have ticked the Auto-box, the game tells me that it is unable to transmit to UDP port 5730. I thought the default was 5739!

- Sweey, how do you set your router to allow certain ports? I am not very into this internet thing, so I don't know how to allow that.

Thanks again - really appreciate your help!

Depends on your router. You need to know where your router is set....go into your web browser and try to go to

192.168.1.1

That is the default address for a router and SHOULD BE CHANGED.

Once there, it depends what sort of router you have. You can surely find instructions on Google if you know the make and model of your router. Mine is under "Applications & Gaming" and allows me to forward ports to specific computers on the network. If it is trying port 5730, try that but mine has always been automatically set at 5739.

Windows Firewall won't protect you from anything by the way. Get ZoneAlarm, its free and does a very good job. Windows Firewall will let any program on your system access the internet without even asking for permission which isn't a good thing.

I'm sorry - I think I'm too stupid for this...

I copy paste the Ip-adress from your post, open Internet Explorer and posts the Ip-adress in the adress bar in IE. Of course it can't find anything. I am doing it all wrong, ain't I? (gosh I'm feeling stupid)

By the way, my router is a Zyxel 650HW, can't find any instructions on google. But it seems to have a firewall built in.

Sorry for being so noobish...

You go into, say, Internet Explorer and in the address bar, type:

192.168.1.1

That is the default IP address that routers are set to which I think is essentially what you said you've done. It should be asking you for a password to alter your router settings. If it isn't, you need to check the manual to see where it configures itself. The only way to allow the ports through the router firewall is to do it this way. It doesn't matter at this moment in time about the resident firewall (Windows or ZoneAlarm) on the system as the router won't let anything through on that port in the first place until you've told it to.

In case you haven't already, do not leave the IP address or the password as the defaults they came to you as. Hackers know what these default passwords are and try to find people who use them in order to get into the hardware and then to your computer.

Thank you for that. I will try to do so. If I can't get it to work, I guess I'll just have to stick to single player...

But thanks you a lot for your help - it' much appreciated!

There will definitely be a way to get it working, so don't give up. It is just setting the right things in the right places.
