I've played tons of BAL (~13 seasons). I think it's the most revolutionary thing to happen to sports gaming in a long time. Not everyone's cup of tea, but there are definitely those of us who love it.

Champions league... Haven't played more than three matches. It will be nice when it's integrated into ML in 2010 though.

Why are you asking? Writing a thesis or something? :D

I like both champions league and BAL. The CL is great because it's licensed and really well done in the menus. And bal, is the best mode ever.

The champions league is well presented and I have played through it about 5 times. However it does not feel quite right. For 1 it will never capture the champions league atmosphere if I am playing as Man Utd in a fake stadium!

Also it is not in the Masterleague which was a disappointment. Apart from that it is authentic and well enjoyable.

^No you don't. It depends on the rating you get on your first match.. This determines the stats and the first team you play in.

BAL can be fun... but I don't think it should be a priority at this point. I also don't like the fact that it's actually simulating the Real Thing.

I prefer controlling a Team by myself, it's something that I cannot do in real-life.

As for the Champions League, it is not in the ML, which is disappointing. And also the atmosphere must improve. And FFS can Konami get New Commentators??

It's like they're not actually watching the game... better Commentaries are needed, particularly in the Champions League.

Forgot to mention... BAL is great for people like me who can't play real footy anymore due to injury. It brings back all the old memories of what it's like to be one part of a team. Also, the mode should get better in the next couple of versions, since I think it was much better executed in Fantasista on J League.

If you're looking for how many people play it, just read how many threads on this site are about it. I don't think there's even one thread called "Ball is rubbish." Most of the response has been pretty positive, and a lot of people, like me, have effectively doubled the lifespan of the game for themselves by playing this mode.

Hopefully it is much better next year, but another sign of it's impact is that EA has stolen the idea and applied it to almost all of their sports games. I think the stat I heard was that 40% of people played BAP as their main mode of play for last years Fifa, which is pretty signifcant, considering most people who have played both prefer BAL to BAP.

I don’t play BAL and have played very few UEFA Champions matches. I mainly play in Exhibition Mode against other people so I really don’t care for either BAL or the UEFA Champions League.
