Waiting....
How come it was over so quick? Did you retire or just quit? Also, do the other fighters actually age?

The career mode ended in April 2016 for myself, which is a pretty short career. I was told that UFC couldn't insure me, or something along those lines, so they retired me. You don't age, which is a bit gay. I liked the ageing aspect on Fight Night 3, where you lose you abilities and stamina after your peak, then it's best to decide to retire. I wanted to go on until I won the championship, but I think I finished 2nd or 3rd.

Just had a couple more fights online and I seem to be doing alright now. Ranked online, I'm currently holding 3 wins and 4 losses. I've just won 2 fights in a row, both didn't make it out of the 1st round. I went for the Light Heavyweight division for both matches just then.

First fight:

My opponent chose Machida, so I opted for Rashad Evans to avenge the loss and spice it up a bit of course. I was ranked as Level 2 before the fight, whilst my opponent was Level 49. He came out swinging, and managed to knock me down twice early on with some very weak punches in the clinch, definitely no reason for Evans to be dropped twice. Anywho, he knew that his fighter was getting the better of me and became more aggressive in his attacks. He charged at me and lunged with a punch, as Suger Rashad I simply used my movement to duck it and caught him with a casual left hand. It wasn't overly powerful, but due to his erratic charge he stood no chance of staying on his feet - he was out cold facing down. I levelled up 5 bars after this fight and earned the achievement by victory through flash KO online.

Second fight:

Again, Ranked online in the Light Heavyweight division. My opponent went for Rampage Jackson and I decided to choose Forrest Griffin. I knew I wouldn't be able to stand with Rampage to be fair, so Forrest was a smart move on my part with his good ground skills on the game. My opponent again was of a high level according to the system, so I was expecting a technically challenging fight. It was not that on his behalf, as soon as it got underway he charged me and began swinging wildly. He was catching me a lot though, the power was defeating my guard and he began working my body with repeated shots. I was constantly on the back foot, purely because I couldn't get a punch in with him going crazy. Once I got some distance between us, it was obvious he was gassed. He went for the takedown, as did I at the same time. We met in the middle but I was in control holding his head, before transitioning onto his back. Once I slipped in the rear naked choke it was beddie-byes.

3 wins online now:

1 by way of Knockout.
1 by TKO.
1 by Submission.

So, what are people pressing to A) Stop the opponent taking you down and B) Wriggle out of a half mount on the ground. Whichever way I move the right analog (am I supposed to be pushing it in?) nothing is working which means if I'm taken down I lose every time unless he gives me a reprieve by trying a submission. Help please...sucking arse/not grasping the ground controls is making me dislike it. :(

I've had 8 fights now, and there's only really been lag in 1 of them. The others generally go without any major lag, overall, it's definitely playable online. If you have a good connection you should be alright.

I've pulled my online record back now from 1 win, 4 losses to 4-4. My last fight was against a rookie kid, he didn't know what he was doing bless him so I mounted him and smashed his face into pieces.

so I opted for Rashad Evans

I despise the man. I've fought him 4 times in career mode so far. 1st I won, but that was early on & involved a fluke knock out in the first. The last 3 were all title fights. I've got the fucker bang to rights toe-to-toe, but is the twat gets full mount I can't get the bugger off & the ref stops it (too damn quickly). I'm just waiting for someone else to knock him off the top before I take another shot at the title.

So, what are people pressing to A) Stop the opponent taking you down and B) Wriggle out of a half mount on the ground. To block a rush takedown, rotate the right stick. As for getting of the deck, the info is in the manual, but due to my problems with Evans, I'm not sure I believe it...

he didn't know what he was doing bless him so I mounted him

Wasn't that Michael Jacksons defence case?

Edit: 124 points in sparring. Highlights were 2 knockdowns & a reversed mid kick takedown to armbar submission. Level 5 sparing partner so got a decent boost to boot.

That's pretty disappointing. The reviews should have mentioned this, damn it. I'll still buy it, I'm just going to wait until I see it for £30.

HAHAHAH! Top work.

I hate playing online - it shows me how crap I actually am. Well, my record is currently 8 wins and 8 losses. I think their description of me as "An Exciting Fighter" is a kind way of saying "wild".

I won with one punch for the very first time. It was against my brother. I can't remember who we were, but I just took a step forward and excecuted a left jab, as he went for the right hook. 4 seconds in to Round 1 and that was all she wrote.

Love it Dragonfly, my quickest has to be around 12 seconds I think.

I'm currently getting into my stride now though, of my last 8 fights online, I've won 7 and lost 1. It was just my early start which was poor online and is slightly plagueing my record at the moment. I'm now playing Rampage Jackson as Forrest Griffin, third time in a row I've faced Rampage. I have no problem with it mind, I'll just make it a hat-rick of wins. :smug:

Also got the achievement for sending the opponents mouthpiece 3 metres after KO.

EDIT: Just won again, although I did get knocked down by that damned "one-handed clinch" again - impossible to defend against it seems.

I got the perv's achievement. You know the one. :naughty:

I hate the clinches. Whenever I think I've found a way to get out of it, it fails on the next attempt. I've tried punching and kicking my out and destroying my right stick.

I've had a blast playing online. My record is currently 30-3-0 from fights spread over each weight class. 16 via KO. 1 via TKO. 12 via Submission. 1 via Decision. And I am currently level 30.

My third defeat was a mauling from a level 79 using Anderson Silva, who decimated me in the muay thai clinch for the entirety of the fight before dropping me early in the second round. The muay thai clinch is perhaps the most destructive situation to be caught in, because even when you know how to escape it, it is still an incredibly difficult feat to pull off, and it still requires an element of luck to acheive. That is down to just how quickly one needs to input the reversal command (opposite direction on the R to that which your opponent whips you) to break the clinch. If you wait to try and see which direction your opponent chooses it is too late, so it's basically a shot in the dark at choosing a direction at random (and hoping it's correct) and inputing it as soon as you see movement from your opponent. And then, after that, quickly holding on R1 (high defence) or R2 (low defence) immedietely after so to attempt and block the incoming knee should it be the wrong direction. The one saving grace about your opponent in the clinch is that it takes a lot of energy out of them to maintain those whips and knees, meaning that they will have to break it eventually, if you can survive long enough that is.

The single collar tie clinch isn't as difficult to break, thankfully, at least when you know how. You can catch your opponents punches (usually uppercuts) if you time it right, and thus tie them up. In the same instance, in the muay thai clinch if your opponent chooses not to whip you it is then possible to catch their knees and take them crashing to the ground.

You sound like an almighty force online Winger, I'm definitely intrigued to face off against you now. ;)

I've just had two fights online then, the first I was dominant in the opening round and managed to get the full mount and reign in blows. Shame he decided the disconnect and quit the match, meaning I didn't get the win. So I left him a nice message.

I've just had another ranked match straight after as the first didn't particularly last long. To be honest, neither did this one. He grabbed me in an underhook clinch, and tripped me to the floor. That was the last thing he done, as after just 39 seconds of the 1st round I won by Guillotine Choke. :smug:

My record is currently 10 wins, with 5 losses. Although it should be 11 wins mind.

Therefore now, I've "officially" won 9 of my last 10 fights.

I have heard rumours that some people are using modded control pads online that were designed for shooting games to help them to shoot there guns faster and this is helping alot of people with these controllers to submit opponents with ease aswell as help them to get in quicker strike combinations.....:(

EDIT: What console are you playing it on Hunter? I should have it this evening or tomorrow for the PS3.

Good luck Charlie....how did it go?

I had 14 weeks to prepare, so thats alot of sparring to be done as my Attributes are 78, 75, 75 so I have no need to train right now. I finsihed the week before the fight and then I saved it to go to bed because I was a bit tired.

My sparring partner kept the clinch attack going for all those weeks so Its going to be tough and Anderson Silva who is deadly.

Ill set it up shortly and have a go :erm:

I don't see how a modded controller could help you in UFC 2009 to be honest. In order to perform a submission you must rotate the right stick no ? I thought the button-mashing only helped if you were attempting to break a submission, also providing that your fighter has a high strength stat otherwise it's deemed useless.

I'm on the Xbox 360 mate, I was hoping we could get a competition going down the line but if everyone has split consoles I can't see it happening. :faceplm:

Second round KO, Bill. I just had a great two rounder with Anderson Silva, the man is quality - Caught me with knees and high kicks and was doing a shit load of damage in the clinch but I managed to break free and perform two slams and then used my strength to do damage on him. I floored him inside the last 15 seconds of round two, so I ran to him, stood over and smashed in his cheek bone and eye socket. He tried to block but my striking is immense and just broke through.

Middleweight champion

EDIT: Next fight is against Nate Marquardt - Revenge is on the cards as this fucker ground raped me when I wasnt too hot with reversals etc.

EDIT 2: I just had my first online game and won by KO in round 2 - Using my fighter and the other player picked Anderson Silva :cheer:
