:) I also don't work for Konami but I still recommend PES to everyone I know :)

Sometimes you should go for the option which makes sense long term.

Zygalski you recommend the Xport but after a LENGTHY look at the patch files threads and the option files threads i wonder why recommend getting an Xport when you can get all the info thru patches which by all accounts are better?

Also I'm thinking of getting my PS2 modified - dont know if you know a lot about it, but the new v14 chip is apprently easy to instal?
Even for a monkey like me?

I reckon getting it done might treble the price....

AFAIK, the Pesfan option file, needs tweaking in a few places, but it is almost certain it will be a better option file to have.

What do you think Zyg?

Kharmel, at the moment I am using the pesfan V3 file which I have edited to fix a few things. There is a link for this in the Option File thread in the Editing section. ISSextreme are making a new file right now without the screwed up transferred players and I'll post that in the same thread when it is out.

Byrnee, I don't know much about the chip but I will look into it. If you're good at soldering and trust yourself inside your PS2, you should be able to install any chip you like.

Yes, patching is easier than using a downloaded option file through X-Port but patches only work on chipped or modded machines - which is only for the minority of people on here. I read someone's opinion that only 5% of the PES/WE players know about patching and use it. That leaves a whole lot of people who don't know or don't have access to using patches, and for these people, I would say that an X-Port is a much better option than the Ultimate Update disk. For a patch, someone has to convert the option file .xps file into a .ppf so it can be imported and not many people know how to do this yet. My recommendation of an X-Port is over the update disk only due to the reasons previously mentioned. I just don't see the point of going for a quick fix which is the update disk for each version of PES when an X-Port sorts you out for every PS2 game you could ever play.

It's not like that. I can only recommend which is better from a personal point of view. My guess is that the issextreme option file will be quite decent.

BTW, you should check the X-Port Info thread to sort out the difference between an option file and a patch as they are very different things. An option file will only give you what can be edited using the in-game options. A patch can include stuff that has been edited outside the game, like adding edited (licenced) kits and different advertising boards etc.

That's fair enough, although a option file, would not in the long term affect your PS2. But, can the same be said of the chips or mods?

If it's been done irresponsibly, yes, it will have a negative effect on your PS2. However, if you (or whoever modded your console) handled your PS2 with care during the procedure, everything should be fine.

Personally, I own both an X-Port and a modded PS2. I tend to use the X-Port for other things so I don't think I've wasted any of my money on it. In PES/WE terms, certainly in WE7's case, there was an option file out with correct formations, strategies and transfers before any patch had done so. Yet another incentive to get an X-Port.

Byrnee: With regard to the bitchy comments you made about the update disc. I tried both options, English & PES Update and both loaded English teams. I dont know if this is just me or has happened to others.

And also you dont need to chip your PS2 to import files from an X Port. For someone who professes to follow simple instructions it sounds like you need to practice what you preach!

Reference the ISSExtreme PES3 option being created, will it be better than the PES Fan V3.0 option file?? what will be the main differences

I downloaded the PESFan PES3 option file this week, the flags are excellent but some of the updated transfers are missing

Thanks

No chit, I'm starting to think you work for Play.com ;)

I, I brought a Xport, I dont work for Play either but it makes sense init????, you get better flags and kits, from the download sites on here and on other sites PES sitesteams & updated team line ups & formations too for now and the future i.e. January transfers/PES4

I had a update disk for PES2, I thought it was good until I brought the Xport which is miles better, I didnt buy the update cd for the cheats, just for the updated teams so it was a waste of money to be honest

Im very happy with it as you can save all your memory card stuff to your hard drive as extra back up

For £17.99 it well worth !! :p

Laters :)

The choice is yours..............

mutron....

1. Not bitchy, it just seemed harsh on the people who make the product to slag it for a reason which wasn't true. If yours didn't work, I'm sorry to hear that but it offers both options so perhaps ring the company? Or try deleting the old option file?

2. Also, I do practise what I preach. Where do I ask if you need to get my ps2 chipped to use an x-port?
