Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Bought this on Wednesday (25th Oct.) there. And I must say, it is an absolute joy to play. It excells in every area; graphics, sound, voice acting, story, gameplay, and online. It was this or Modern Warefare II (let's be honest, either choice is going to be justified) and I'm not even remotely regretting my choice. I'm enthralled in the single player campaign. Loving it! And I've had a few bashes online which were fantastic fun.

I'd class Uncharted II as a must buy, especially when the price comes down to earth once it hits platinum.

is it really the dog's bollocks?? Is THE BEST or ONE OF the best games???

Im on Chapter 11 and must say it is on the path to be the 2nd favourite game after MGS1. It all depends if it can finish as strong as it's played so far. The pace is exhilirating.

I haven't played online because of this.

I'm on chapter 16. How many chapters left?

Despite what I said, I was playing last night for quite a bit and I was generally getting games within a decent time. The thing that is now also beginning to annoy me is that Plunder doesn't seem to come up in the playlist often. I was playing for a good few hours and Plunder only came up once (this was after I changed from a ranked all playlist to just an objective playlist and still it took awhile for Plunder to appear). As soon as it came up everyone voted for it so I don't think I'm the only one that likes it. The gutting thing was the other team won quite quick. :(

And about Uncharted 2 as a game. I usually don't hold newer games in high regard with the likes of Final Fantasy VII, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario 64 or even further back to my love of the original Donkey Kong Country series, Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World. Uncharted 2 is certainly a game I would probably include as one of my favourite games ever. The only other titles in the last decade I could think of putting in that catagory are Shadow of the Colossus, Grand Theft Auto III and Farenheit.

Certainly the oppurtunity for the Uncharted franchise to continue.

From this weekend Naughty Dog have put the multiplayer level on Crushing difficulty (health now at 65%) and included a playlist for Plunder only matches due to fan request. I think this is good news that Naughty Dog are listening to the fans and Plunder being the best match type.

I've finally completed the game. Great game, along with great graphics.
It's one of the best games I've played on the PS3.

I completed Among Thieves (Normal) last night. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience that the game offered, from start to finish. It's one of the few games I may play through a second time, on a higher difficulty, of course.

Masterpiece.

I completed this last night. The game is beautiful and the voice-acting is once again superb. I clocked in at 9 hours and 30 minutes, which is a good length, but I was under the impression it was a tad longer.

The final boss fight was disappointing and I still think it takes far too many bullets to kill a regular enemy. According to the stats I spent close to 2 and a half hours in cover, which says a lot.

The stealth sections were a bit strange too. Sometimes you're invisible to a guard 20 feet away from you, other times they seem to spot you from miles away.

Another flaw with the AI is their reluctance to attack anyone but you. It's like once you're out in the open, all guns are pointed at you, even if a partner is within touching distance of them.

All in all though, an awesome game with a number of characters that are amongst the most memorable this gen. For the next game I'd like to see less linear locations with perhaps multiple pathways you could use to reach your location.

I actually downloaded the demo to both games over the past week as I wanted something new to play and heard so much about these titles, but I hate the combat system.

Dan you are right, it takes far too many bullets to kill people, the recognition of head shots is too low, I have shot a guy 3 times in the head each bullet connecting, but it doesnt register as a headshot and he is still standing.

Pissed me off so much that I am not gonna buy either of them.

There's a third one coming out? That would be great.

I recently completed this as well, and I pretty much agree with everything everyone has said, including Dan's criticisms. One things I must say that I don't like is Chapter 2, in the museum. I didn't get the game to be particularly stealthy, so it was disappointing to play this level. Other than that, the rest of the game is awesome.

If there isn't a third game released, I'll be shocked.

I'm sure I remember watching a video which the makers said there could be lots more to come in the series.

I think Nolan North (voice of Nathan Drake) said that the third will be in production sometime in 2010.

Like Uncharted 2, I'm already excited at the announcement of a future Uncharted. Not that I'm surprised since the series is now one of Sony's popular franchises of this generation.

9 months late but I've completed the game. Yep, a game I was declaring GOTY months before release and was tempted to buy day one, and I've only just got round to playing it.

Clear as daylight it's a 10/10 (that does not equal perfect btw). The soundtrack, characters, story, graphics; just sublime. I hope for many more adventures, regardless of whether they'd be milking it or not.

The character interaction really is enjoyable, due to it flowing so well. Nothing sounds out of place.

I think they will be more, due to its success. And tbh, I think they another one would not be milking it. The series should have a conclusion.

So far in the Uncharted series there isn't a bit of dialogue that doesn't feel out of place. There are some great games out there with some great voice acting and/or scripting but even those games at times the dialogue doesn't flow completely. I'm not saying it is terrible but so far Uncharted have been steps above everyone else in making characters much more believable by how well they interact.

I have never played Drakes Fortune. But Among Theives was one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had the joy of touching upon. And I would, without doubt, be purchasing any third installment that should come our way.

I picked Among Theives up with a few gift vouchers I got from work. An absoulte steal! And an unrivalled surprise find, for me. I say that because I don't pay much attention to reviews (other than for what to definitely avoid). So although Among Theives was being hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread, it was still a toss of the coin purchase for me. For example; I've never played that Call of Duty Modern Something-or-Other, or GTA IV, or Metal Gear Solid 4, etc.
