if barthez was so bad then why did man u get him, if busquets was so bad then why did he play for barcelona non stop 10 years, if rossi was so bad then why did he play for milan 15 years

Cudicini and Friedel are both very good 'keepers. It's all about form. The only 'keeper to consistently play well I've seen in England is Schmeichel.

A season ago, Dudek was the best 'keeper in the Premiership. Then it was Cudicini. Then it was Friedel. Now it's Howard. Next week it'll be Lehmann, because he makes the odd good save.

There was also a time last season when Richard Wright was playing superbly for Everton.

At one point Paul Robinson was being touted as a potential replacement for Seaman in the long-term. Then, all of a sudden, being Seaman's replacement was an insult, because Seaman turned poor and made loads of mistakes.

I do, but shouldn't "best keeper" be graded on skills, and less on form and performance?

In my opinion Barthez is one of the best in the world, just that he's inconsistent, and make blunders once in a while.
When Manchester United finally couldn't tolerate his performance against Real Madrid, they let him go on loan.

oh come on,what a load of mince.All of these goalkeepers are exceptional,with the possible exception of Barthez.Oh yeah whatever,if Casillas is only thought of as good because of Real Madrid,then why has he had so many man of the matches this season,including an amazing game v Barca,and how is he in the Spain squad,and why was he the most prolific penalty saver at the world cup,and 1st choice for Real and Spain,at the age of 22

no,canizares is not 1st choice anymore,it is casillas now,and rightly so.

I've watched Casillas' performances on several occasions.
He doesn't commit blunders, but his saves all look standard.
