Well, if you really notice changes then theres not much I or anyone else can say to change your mind. But having played almost a 1000 MLO matches I don't buy into this theory. Even the best players with 90+ stats for stuff like response, teamwork, tenacity, form etc can have those wacky moments. In fact I should reword that to: even those wacky moments can happen with the best players. Again, its the programming, not the stats! The stats will obviously help you in all departments, but it won't fix things like a player completely ignoring a ball, a player not being able to move/clear a ball, swithcing players 10 times a second, etc

which is exactly his point

He's seeing if lower rated players with these stats makes winning games easier, and for him it has. He isn't looking for a fix, he's looking for a solution.

I don't want to get into any arguments about stats etc, not sure if its one particular stat or all of the ones I've chosen that makes the difference.
Played 51 games now n I've noticed a real improvement n with a bit of luck I'm on for my first promotion to div3, so something is working .

i think the way dmahn is trying to play it definitely reduces the problem so he is onto something. i very much enjoyed the last matches i played, there was a very nice flow to them and when i lost matches it was more to my fault than the comp animations.

Oops counting the chickens before they hatch is a very bad idea :no:.

On fri/Sat I managed to storm up the rankings from 460 pts to 512pts, yesterday saw the exact opposite. Had an absolute mare and am currently way down on 455pts so relegation is now almost (but not quite) certain.

The PES gods just wouldnt let me win yesterday, was shipping goals all over the place, not through moments of madness just bad play by me and all of a sudden the opposition being absolutely immense. I really do need to learn how to hold onto the ball a bit better.

I switched from Barca's tactics to Italys to try and tighten up at the back. In the last 6 games 4 ended 0-0 with 1 1-0 win and 1 1-0 loss, thats 5 clean sheets, but some how this means i lost 15 pts. I know i didnt exactly score loads but i just dont get the way points are allocated it seems totally random at times. I mean in one game I played a chap from Div 4 (same as me) we both started on 460 pts we drew 0-0 n i lost 6 pts he gained 5pts??

Anyway enough moaning, I suppose i should have quit for a few days when I was on 512pts, never mind we live and learn.

Well no surprise here, I got relegated but made more points (450) compared to (395) last time so there was some kind of improvement.

Back to the drawing board again;
I think the stats i've been picking so far most definitely help with the central players eg GK CB and DM / CM, maybe a bit more flair and excitement is needed out wide to improve things.

the kanomi AI favour one side or the other, sometimes this favourtism is turned up to the max and it stares even the most sceptic user in the face, sometimes it allows us to play an even game. Sometimes the favourtism switches mid match. I can find no correlation to it, but new teams, ie, 100 or less matches certainly get more favourtism than less.

Totally agree with u m8 don't know why Konami have done this. Maybe there trying to emulate the ebb and flow of real matches where one team attacks and puts pressure on the other for a 10/15min period before things switch round and the opposition has a crack. Whatever the reason it just doesn't quite work right and is the most frustrating part of the game.

If you have the problems with players scoring the epic own goals or just standing around watching the game go by then what I have tried works, in 105 games I "scored" 1 own goal and have not had any stupid goals scored against me.
Coupet my GK has been faultless not once has he just watched the ball go over his head from a cross or do the stupid fall over/dive while the ball trickles along the floor at 1mph into the net, I had Hart with a similar overall rating and he did this every 5 games or so.

Don't get me wrong you still need to be able to play the game well to succeed that's why I keep getting relegated :), its not a magic fix but at least my players actually do what i expect them until the AI starts "cheating".

As for the other issues there's nothing anyone can do about them (other than the coders at Konami), not gonna hold my breath on that one.

hmm. this favoritism argument is interesting cause this question always arises: should the momentum shift come from the players who are playing (humans) or the players who are in the game?

I guess we will always rely on the AI as we can only control 1 player at a time (unless you play on the Wii, which I have and is a very interesting "total freedom" style control system, but this does have its own problems).
The change of impetus should come from the player you are controlling not the AI, then the AI should support you dependent upon you players individual stats.
The way it works at the moment is just a bit backward to be honest and just frustrates the hell out of me.

There will be a time where we can control players with our eyes, so that we can still be controlling our winger on the ball with the current controller but letting our striker make an intelligent run with precise eye movement. Or when taking setplays and passing general, by looking at the player we want to pass to we get better accuracy.

I hope to still be alive by then...

nah i dont want that. this is a replication of the game, not the real game. i play football in real and its fun, but this has its own charm. so i guess i m an oldschooler in that regard...a controller and programming is what i need for a good football sim.

Anyone know if its possible to change the name of this thread (& how i can do it), at the time I created the thread title didnt quite have the same meaning as is does with the current situation in the Middle East (especially Libya at the mo).
