Volleying

In all my time playing PES2, I still haven't mastered the volley. I'm pretty sure i've never scored with a volley and the closest i've come is with Patrick Vieira from about 25 yards, but it was always going wide.

Is it down to timing? gimme some tips please :(
how do you guys normally score from volleys

wait a minute, i did score 1 volley before with denilson from a corner .. and it was probably the nicest goal ive ever scored :D

but anyway.. it's a weak point to my play

You're right mate, it is down to timing and also positioning. If the player is not positioned properly then it's a fair chance that he will not even attempt to volley but will try and header the ball instead, or, let it by for another player to have a crack at.

Go to the Training Ground and Practice...Practice...Practice!

do you normally score with volleys from crosses into the box then? or little chipped balls over the defence?? what type of plays should i practice to volley??

does the 1-2 air pass work?

I find a good way is to do a high cross to the far post and then head it back across goal with X to the striker who volleys it in.
I point the controller to the side I want him to aim at , eg up or down and it seems to work well.

Perhaps the player's shot technique stats affect his ability to execute them well.

the best way to score with a volley is to cross the ball with the double circle cross, when you arrive at either wing near the box, cross tapping circle twice, then it's all up to timing...

go to the practice ground and try it....

i think my method is better for when there are defenders about as they'll cut out the low cross.

volleys are easy when you close to goal and the crossing player does a quick double tap to cross it low.... ur player shud volley it in when this happens. volleying outside the area is almost impossible unless you first chest it down. i have only scored one long range volley with scholes.

well i hit the training ground last night and it helped me with volleying. it's definitly all down to timing and i'm yet to score a spectacular volley but have still scored a few

yea i also had problems with scoring volleys , when i wanted to volley them ball it used to header it instead , but now i found out the longer you hold the sqaure button [] down the player will try something different like a volley , bicycle kick and scissor kicks. the best thing to do is go to the training ground and pratice it from corners then try from normal crosses.

try the lobbed through ball for sum strange reason players feel more compatable to control the ball on there thigh or chest the hit it for a volley, i scored one wid bergkamp its amazin and have done it several times u need a player with good technique.

hintz

my favz amonst the list of hints r-

1- watch football on tv from all over the world to widen your knowledge of differing styles of play.
2- play formation 3-5-2 b and position edit players to suit your style, cause in this formation there is a player in every key area on the pitch and is effective in its own way if you r a quick player change type of player!
3- R2 is the most effective for control as we know, but for pulling opposing defenders out of position to leave you gaps in behind them for through balls etc, is l1 belive it or not! for example in my 3-5-2 b when my playmaker off of the front 2 has the ball use a l1 + triangle chip through ball, the def will retreat and stop it with a header. Now because the defender is running backwards to reach the ball he cannot head it hard enough to clear so he heads it straight to a key area to your player either at his feet or within five yards of him so if it lands at the oppositions feet before they can move you can tackle, then your off, pass to shevy-chenko, cant catch me, bam, goal. done.
4- remember football is a team game, its not the player with the ball that counts, its the ten moving targets he has!
5- in need of a goal dont attempt a volley, half volleys r more likely to net from the edge of the area, use your players takedown to position him with a shooting angle , instant touch -1 second-square. not always gaurenteed.

any tips for me? please dont send obvious ones like one-two.

The best way to volley a ball is using players that are good jumpers and good shot technic.Without the shot technic the probabilities of scoring is very low. So what you have to do is do a double circle pass to the second post and then press X to another atacker and then square without pressing any directionals... Good luck scoring

knew that but thanks anyway, all i am sayin is that if u need a goal desperatly you have a higher chance of scoring with a halfers rather than the volley cause if it falls to a low stat player you may still score or settle for corner! but it all depends on where the ball gets crossed to, although in my above post i was talkin edge of the area shootin, where halferz have a higher scorin rate as you position player better first before pulling the trigger.

The only problem is, that a crowded penalty area will make it tricky to bring it down and score. You'll often get closed down.

I still definitely agree, it's easier to hit the target after taking a touch first, but that's obvious.

Recently, I've been trying to get the "dummy" to work. The one where they step over the ball and let it run. Any tips? I'll share when I get it working. No success as of yet.

I find that if I need a goal 'desperately' I won't be looking to volley it. Taking time to find space and bang it into a corner would be easier.
But I know what you mean otherwise.

i think the easiest way to volley/half volley is by doing the chipped through ball .. the player runs on to it and jus press [] then. make sure the power bar is jus over half way to make it go into the top corners, be careful though because different players have very very different techniques. such as Shevchenko just volleys it normally while Vieri volleys it straight on and tries to put dip on it all the while, with players like vieri on some volley u have to make sure that the power bar is right up, its weird no matter how far away from goal u r it still managers to stay down.
