Hi there,
Can anyone please help?

I am not able to play PES2008 on my machine. I am running Widows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
And get this error message.

I have also installed the patch version 1.2. This does nothing.

I have tried right clicked it and running under windows XP. Nothing
PES2008 worked on my XP system.

Tried it all

Tried kitserver. Ran it under administrator. It picked up the settings file but said the the PES2008.exe was not the correct file. It would not do anything after that.

I also looked at the d3dx9_30.dll file. I already have this in my windows folder. So I think I am goosed. I will try a few other forums.

Thanks for you help

Have you installed patch 1.2? If not, there should be a link somewhere on here or just randomly on the internet via Google. After it is installed, try to apply Kitserver again. If the patch is already installed or it still doesn't work, try looking for an updated version of Kitserver.

I'm not sure you'll need to download d3dx9_30.dll from anywhere. If you do, a Google search will both find you somewhere to download it and where to place it on your system (either Windows\System or Windows\System32).

Sorry for not being more particular at the moment, I'm in the middle of something.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes i have downloaded the v1.2 patch. Ran kitserver as administrator. As above, it picked up the settings file and said that the PES2008.exe was not the correct file

I can only suggest uninstalling, reinstalling, patching and then trying to apply Kitserver (make sure its the latest version) without even running the game.

I have tried this and it still does not work. I have only got 1gb of ram. This may be the problem, so i will get more ram and see if this works. Thanks for your time

It really shouldn't make a difference in this respect. As I clearly missed it earlier: is the Radeon 9600 supported by the game? My guess is that a better graphics card is needed.

That said, a user on this forum is playing using a 9600. Not sure if they are in XP, however.

Yes I have played the game in XP with no problems at all. Played online with no problems. It just seems to be Vista

I'm guessing then that ATi have never released proper Vista drivers for the 9600 and that's the problem.

Don,
I think you are probably right because when i first installed vista, the driver was a vista one. In vista there is a section called 'Performance Information and Tools'. Within this there is a section called 'Windows Experience Index' and the score that I got for Graphics was 3.7 and for Gaming Graphics it was also 3.7. After I installed the ATI Catalyst Radeon driver the scores went down to 1.0
Now I cannot even play the games that come with vista. Great eh!!

Do you know how I can get the old vista driver back. When I roll back the driver all it gives me is an earlier ATI driver. It will not let me roll back any further.

Have you any other ideas apart from buying an new graphics card??

Thanks very much for your help so far

Can't you just uninstall the driver completely (not rolling back) forcing Vista to detect the graphics card the next time you boot?

That aside, you're generally stuck. There will likely be a way to sort this out even if what I've just suggested doesn't work but I've never had an ATi card (or only had one once) so I can't experiment on my own machine for you.

I'm assuming you have the Catalyst 7.12 driver (released on December 20) installed and not 7.11? If not, go to http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=vista32/common-vista32 (if that doesn't work go to http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html and filter via the OS, type of driver and card) and download it.

Weh Hey!!! Guess wot Don. I unistalled the driver re-booted and windows detected the graphics card and installed the up to date driver. So i went in manually to update the driver for device manager and there it was the vista driver. Installed this one, now Windows aero is working, my vista graphics score has jumped from 1.0 to 3.6 and yes PES2008 is now fully working. The graphics are not as good as they were in XP. But so what. Its all looking good. Nice one Don. Thanks very much for all your help and time.
