Being a diehard supporter of England team since god remembers when, I was kind of peeved off by Sven Ericksson recent lamenting on the absence of several key players out on injury during their build up to the Macedonia encounter. C.mon England is placed no 7 on the Fifa standing whereas Macedonia is no 85.
On paper, it looks like even England B can beat them. I was kinda of flabbergasted when England beat them only 2-1. Perhaps Sven should start playing WE7, perhaps he could pick up a thing or two.

Being an Englishman that lives in Sweden I just have to reply to this, don't I?! Firstly, his name is Eriksson, not Ericksson. I also feel that the recent games that England have played since the World Cup have not been very reassuring, but we have won a lot of games. Not convincingly, not spectacularly, but we've won. I think these games have provided Sven with a lot of answers to some difficult questions, such as 'is Wayne Bridge a better defender than Ashley Cole?' and so on. But I also think that we're gonna have a tough old time in Istanbul on the 11th October. We are a better team than the Turkish, but that doesn't mean shit . Almost anything can happen in footie, that's why we love it, isn't it?

And if anyone want's to impress there English friends by knowing how to pronounce Sven's name properly then I'll share it with you all.

It's pronounced Sven Yer-an Eriksson. Göran is pronounced 'Yer' followed by 'an' (like and without the 'd'!?). Nice to get that out of the way as well in the same thread!!! As far as I'm concerned Eriksson is the best manager we've ever had and this is proved by his track record.

Plus whenever England play the bigger teams they generally play better anyways, i mean we beat Argentina & Denmark in the world cup and also had an impressive victory over turkey.

I agree with the MumPleaser, we should be happy with the win, we are not going to beat all teams 5-1 no matter what their ranking. The important thing at the moment is that we qualify, after that bringing home the trophy; we can discuss how well they have played back in the pub once the open-top bus has been parked up.
