I dont think it would be 100%, but somewhere around 75%-80%.

Besides, IGN says PES4's frame rate would be optimized, which will HOPEFULLY obliterate the slowdowns.

No, IGN said it most likely will be optimized, so it's not a clear fact that they will... I surely hope so, but I don't want to have false hope here....

Hmm, true. But, if Konami of europe could optimize the frame rate, why didnt Konami JAP do it too? I mean, surely they were better off releasing it at AUG 15th or 20th if it means a more swift game. Hopefully it will be fixed by PES4. I, for one, noticed that many things were modified from WE7 and PES3. PES3 felt better and alot more smooth, it was also easier to dribble and fake players. Also, the difference in speed is really noticeable (they screwed this up in WE 7: I though.)

Oh well. I'm still anticipating the release of WE 8

Agree, it's pretty stupid to release a game with a flaw of that amount and then fix it for the european release in PES4. I haven't played WE7 that much, but PES3 was/is pretty smooth, and I really hope they fix the problem of WE8 in PES4... I do think they will, but I'll go for the worst scenario so in the end it can only be better...

Precisely. Dont expect MUCH and you'll be pacified with what you get. Thats what I tend to do. Still this game will rock, I feel it. One thing for certain, it'll be better than WE7. I cant wait for PES4. :)

it is quite clear already that it does not depend on the tv.
it is a software problem.

- it only happens when you're near the goal
- worse if you use wide camera
- worse if you use a camera angle
- worse on night games
- worse when the stadium has supporters close to the goal

as a programmer ;), it looks like there's too much off-screen action rendered, so you might not actually see the supporters behind the goal but they're still rendered. this off-screen rendering is well needed when you're in the middle of the pitch so the camera can keep up with the action, but it should be reduced near the box. this might however just be a limitiation of the renderware engine used which is probably not as configurable to solve this issue... or Konami just didn't see the problem.

Possible solutions:

Play daytime matches,
Turn crowd attendance for both teams to minimum (1*),
Turn off stadium effects.

I've got the original game. I play it on a NTSC projector. There are only two good side camera views that work with no slowdowns. Far and Default and as soon as you change the camera angle the slowdown comes back.

There is slowdown

Guys, I've been playing WE8 in a Japanese electronics store and the bottom line is that there is a lot of slowdown throughout the whole game, and the ball can be very floaty at times. The worst of the slowdown is during the cornerkicks and when the penalty box gets crowded. It has nothing to do with the disc or if it is being played on a modded PS2. It is also very apparent during all of the camera angles, period. Additionally, shots seem to be slower, even hard bullet type shot by the likes of Owen and Henry seem to head towards the goal as if they were passed. It is going to be a problem for WE fans as it seems to be a step back for the game. It feels like Konami started working on this in june and rushed it for release over here. Hopefully it will be fixed for PES4 and WE8 in North America...

Mr Zyg, I hope that your implication is NOT "satisfy yourself by reducing the atmosphere in the game so you can play it as it was supposed to be played", because it is pathetic to do this, especially with WE. Reminds me when I didn't have state of the art PC and 3D card, so I used to reduce game details to be able to play it. AS far as I see things, that's what is good about consoles, games are designed so they are smooth and playable. I don't want to satify myself by reducing the athmosphere. It shits me. It is Konami's fault, and they should be "punished" for it, as Driver 3 was and many others.

What do you think???

I think this slowdown bug uis worse than a stutter bug.

This is what I think. Konami already knew about this bug, but they didn`t want to fix it, they didn`t want to reveal that bug to anyone so they just went with the procedure. The bug WILL be fixed in WE8IJ and PES4, you will see Konami saying something like this:

"Dear WE and PES fans, we are happy to let you know that the slowdown issue has been removed and now WE8IJ "or" PES4 play without any problems"

This is how KONAMI makes money. Sometimes it makes me wonder KONAMI and EA are all the same..

I have changed the camera angle to further out and I didnt get a stutter or a slowdown. It's running off the HDD and occasionly it does occur. Lets hope it doesnt rub on to PES4.

yeah jag87, it shouldn't. Remember last year WE7 had that stutter bug, so did the PES3 BETA but the legit PES3 had no problems.

its obvious they didnt want to let anyone know about the bug. thats why there werent any vidoes of the maythces themselves whereas for winning eleven 7 trhere were.
