goalies, penalty box, master league injury and fatigue feats and defense
1. konami slowly gets to the real level of goalies, reaction time is improved but still not perfect. a good thing would be to make them come out and, say, narrow the angle if a striker enters the box from the wings (and even if he`s marked by a defender). they occasionally do it, but there`s still much room for improvement. maybe konami should make an sub-option with the difficulties, to say, have the possibility to choose `world class keeper skills`, something that direction, so the pro gamers are not bored (maybe i sound too hard, but then i was a goalie for some time).
2. the ref blows the whistle far too easily on contacts in the penalty area. you touch the opponent, or vice versa (sometimes you don`t even stumble) and there`s a threatening big chance of that to be a foul. laughable. a penalty box parameter should be that the fouled player hits the ground or at least has a believable animation to justify the ref`s decision. these things really bug me, even if you`re the one on the sunny side (hate to win a game against arsenal on 6 stars 3-0 with 2 of them being ref`s presents). destroys the realism konami`s promoting with the we/pes series.
3. a new injury system (or an improved version) would be nice. especially talking about the `c` rated players. i can hardly even put that kind of a player in the lineup (the more so if it`s a very good player, in this case, be it robben) without thinking about the player who, in the end, will replace the former as the possibility of an injury is very high. i would not protest if it were in a tackle or a vicious bodycheck ect., but even a slight touch, player falls, and he`s out. i`m developing a robben-phobia.
4. ML fatigue accumulation is vastly improved (at times, or in specific player`s cases, too harsh and not convincing). on one hand it`s good so that you really have to rotate your squad, and players returning from international duties are really tired, but some were so tired that i had to rest them for 3 weeks. that is too much. on the other hand some players who in real life usually represent the backbone of the team`s starting lineup and feature almost every game, getting tired too fast (i play terry and cech in 3 games in a row and have to give them a break for 1, sometimes 2 games after that).
5. konami`s illness with the chaotically jerking defense from we8/pes4 might be visually cured, but it`s still there. through passes into the defense are too easy as your defenders will always react a whole lot later then the charging attacking player. and yes, i`m using all the tactics there are, marking players, defense behavior, matching the speed, reaction and balance attributes of the marking defender and the striker ect. very often you will know in advance where the ball is going to be played, but for some reason, not matter how hard you press the R1, in combination with the super-cancel (and scream at the defender), he will not sprint until some (programmed) moment where it will be too late already. frustrating that intercepting passes would be so unfair (but hey, it still works...sometimes).
ps: the opponent CPU defense on 6* should be harder, or let`s say, more intelligent. the game`s too easy (i haven`t even touched the other star difficulties). you still can pass the ball around with a pinball feel to it. but now there is at least more midfield play (but still not enough!!).
ps2: the slow feel on the pitch is just purely realistic. if you`re cool, you still can launch lightning attacks (reminds me of ac milan`s philosophy; you can really stupify your opponent with a boring and slow AND stamina reserving display, THEN sting them with a goal, and THEN get back to the previous playing style and hold on to your goal and the 3 points). bravo seabass & konami. the guys who want speed over everything should go play fifa.
