WE9 Fouls

What do you guys think about the fouls in this game?

I think it's ridiculous. I thought pro evolution 4 was annoying with the amount of fouls given out in one game but with WE9, they made the referee way too whistle happy. You get a foul for even the lightest touch on a player. I have played this game for 4 days and am getting quite annoyed at how much the whistle is being blown. Everything else is perfect except for this.

Light touch=foul
Light push=foul
Run into the player and they've still got the ball=foul

Also, in one matchthat I played, you can easily see that the referee can let the player that was slightly fouled play on without stopping the match (because they still have the ball and can still run on) in about 10 occasions but what happens, FOUL!

This would be the most perfect game if it wasn't for this.

I thought this too at first, but now I'm used to it. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, especially online.

WTF!!!!!!

It`s realistic I find that there must be more fouls man in real the referee floats also for everything in real matches there are 20 till 30 fouls (or more) and in PES only 10 till 20

take the ball away from opposite player (spanish way) decent amount of fouls
take the opposite player away from ball (english way) more fouls

yeh, first hour of play is pretty frustrating, but i find that with every new version. i like it now, takes a bit of getting used to, but hey, its worth the wait.

Whats the point posting but you've not actually said anything?

Anyways I was annoyed with the fouls in WE8:LE as I felt the ref blows the whistle too much for things that aren't even fouls.

I had to agree with you on this. After some 20 games or so, I've noticed that there are just too many fouls spoiling the fluid gameplay. Some of them were not actually fouls at all. And I've noticed that the ref seldom play the advantage. Whenever I stole the ball from my opponent without the ref blowing the whistle, I heaved a sigh of relief.
I remembered in WE7 when Konami introduced the Handball, the situation was not as bad. I am sure Konami would have realised from their previous mistake that too many stoppages would spoil the fun. So what is wrong? Perhaps we should do some experimenting and change the way we play. Perhaps we should analyse whether pressing R1 together with square button when your opponent is too close is causing the foul.Maybe there is a proper way . I am still exploring and if else fails we might just be left wondering whether it is possible to select a ref that is more tolerant.

From my experience in playing the game for a week now, playing the same way as per WE8LE and versions before, you will definitely rack up fouls like nothing.

My advice is to FORGET how you 'used' to play. Take it slow, re-learn the mechanics for passing, shooting, and defending and the game will slowly open up to you.

There are so many new tweaks in defending, i.e Using R2+stick to shoulder oponnent off the ball. Plus the new 'weight' facutor means that you don't even have to tackle to put people off. I am currently doing this muself, as I encountered the same peoblem when first getting the game.

Also if you noticed there are a lot of time when you teams AI Defence already anticpates the pass and actually intercepts a lot of passes. Somtime switching players too much causes a disruption in the animation.

Try it out, I liked WE8LE very much, initially didn't like WE9, But I'm still giving it time as with all WE/PES games, coming to a conclusion after 1-2 wks play is an injustice. Even after 5mths of WE8:LE if often discover new animations/subtleties that bring a smile to my face.

There are some many great little touches in there, like head juggling, chest passing etc.

Cheers

Also passive defending has it's advantages. Try holding off more, and closing passing lanes, see what the CPU does. They 'play' more now. So you can get interceptions easily. CPU dribbling is also better, so if you oer-commit you're going to be left for dead. And you may not be able to catch up with the player as easily now.

Also in real life, the english game allows for more physical play, where in other parts of the world these would be called as fouls. So, in perspective there has to be a compromise somewhere.

i agree with ya , its the most annoying thing in we9 beside the substituting animation wich takes an hour to be done *_* , but i try to use it for my advantage , like i get a minimum of 2 penelties per game lol , just get into the box and cover the ball ,hehe

I agree with UncleJ, don't try and play the game like you did with WE8 and WE8:LE. Learn the new mechanics and you will be suprised.

When I first started playing I had the same problem, everytime I went to tackle with X i gave away a free kick. Now I simply run with the player and try and run him off the ball by holding R1 or R2. It works well and you won't give as many free kicks away.
