WE9 Rip Kit - ripping WE9 to CD

Many people have got the original dvd and patched dvd images working using swap magic. Search around for the relevent threads.

I personally, haven't got a DVD-ReWriter. That was the point I was trying to make earlier.

However, if there was no other way of patching this game, then I'd have to get my cousin to do it for me as he owns a DVD-ReWriter.

But, I really want to try ripping (and patching) this game myself.

I mean, is it just me, or is there no point in ripping a game (onto a CD) if you can't get it to work with Swap Magic (CD Version)?

The full game, the patched dvd iso and the patched cd versions all work with swap magic. Maybe you need a different version of swap magic. Like I said, you can ask about this on one of the swap magic threads as it is unlikely to be answered here quickly.

how come i only gt the dvdimage.iso file and not the other dvdimage.mds image file??
does it really matters as i get error code as the previous members encounter

yea after an hour or so i finally got the ripped iso, after i extract the iso files to C:/WE9 instead of C:/Files.

It does for several people. Not sure which version of swap magic is required though.

NOTE TO ALL:
If you want to patch your cdrip with a patch like the WEMERICA one that comes with files that you need to import - do not import any of the SOUND files. Just import the rest and it will work fine (remembering to patch the slpm file as I mentioned a few posts ago in this thread).

I guess you can try to import the sound files and then use the ripkit again but I am not sure if that will work and whether it would reduce the size/quality of the sound files. I always ignore the sound files from the patches and import everything else. Which works fine. Thanks.

hi mate, i am so eager to try out the patch by WEmerica v2.5. but i have been try and buring tons of unless CDs already. my problem is that i cant import the o_sound, j_sound and the intro files into the iso. dkz studio gives me a popup says the files is too big. anyway i am using a cdrip, so can you please advice me on how can i solve my problem??thanks alot...

Hi. It is best if you ask these questions in the ripkit thread otherwise only you will have the answer and others will be asking me the same thing. Which gets annoying after answering the question 5 times.

For the cd-rips you cannot import any sound files. The whole point of the cd rip is that the sound files have been reduced in quality.
So if you want to make a cdrip that works, do not import any sound files and do import everything else.

If you want to import the slpm file, make sure you open it in the ps2dvdcdcheck program and click it to 'parchear on CD' (as I posted earlier).

Good luck. Any more questions, please ask in the ripkit thread.

but if i do not import the j_sound file and intro i will not get english commentary and after i load the game after the "playstation2" word come out it is a black screen. anyway when i am done i will post our conversation in the ripkit thread for the rest to see, can??thanks

The whole point of the WE9 ripkit is to reduce the quality+size of the japanese audio (and music) so it fits onto a CD. If you want to bring other sound files in it will screw it all up. Unless you want to create a ripkit that will reduce the size+quality of the english commentary too, it won't work.

alright so you mean i have to stick to jap commentary for the time being??

If you want it to work on CD - yes.
Otherwise burn to dvd.

Just to confirm that the wemerica 2.5 patch (english) does work on the cdrip.
Grab the clean iso and use dkz to import all the files apart from the sound ones (make sure to patch the slpm file with ps2dvdcdcheck program and 'parchear to CD') and then use cdmage to convert the iso to bin+cue (mode 2/2353 as shown in the guide) and burn. Done.

All the patches I've used so far work, as long as you import the correct parts. You will miss out on the updated sounds but that's the price to pay. Unless someone wants to create a ripkit that can reduce the quality+sound of the english commentary and other music?

The instructions say dkz so i used that and it worked fine.
I guess that cdmage should do the same thing.

hi zygalsky
I think you got enough from those problems that many people on this thread have had using the ripkit thing, but I still have that damned message popping up and sayin "sound cannot be found" or something like that. I've done exactly and word for word what u said in your guide and also in the readme of the ripkit but no positive results. You said at last that we should put everything inside one folder, but I didn't get you: do you mean in the folder WE9 I should put inside it that ripkit folder? Is it what u meant?

Do like the guide says and get all of your files into your root C:\ drive - including the ripkit and the full dvd iso.
Do not use a folder like C:\WE9. That should sort it.

can anyone help me? ( i have started my own thread, but perhaps this thread is better)

I have a we9 cue & bin file ( 817,768 kb & 1 kb) and when I burned it with nero, I can play it normally with my PS2 but it's still in Japanese.

my question is can I patch the cue file with ppf-o-matic3 and burned it?

because when I read the editing tutorial, it said that you need an ISO file to patch. I don't know how to change the CUE to ISO.

and is it possible to use Fernando_WE9_English_v5? Because when I read the readme, It said ONLY FOR DVD. and I want to burn this to cd...
