WE9 Substitution Problem

Does anybody else find substitutions annoying in WE9? For some reason, it takes an age for my PS2 to load the little cut scene where the substitute is about to replace the player coming off.

It takes around 10-15 seconds for the cut scene to load then it takes a further 10 seconds after attempting to skip the cut scene, to load the free kick, corner or goal kick.

Does anybody else have this problem? Or is this just a problem with my WE9 disc or a problem with my PS2 console?

It takes a while but not that long for me.
I guess the best way to find out how long it should take is to ask someone who plays their game using a PS2 hard disk.

not 15 seconds mate.. the cut scene is atleast 3-4 seconds.. for me.. maybe your cd is a bit dirty or scratched or something mate..

Actually, I was exaggerating a little bit.

It's really more like a 5-7 second wait.

I've checked the underside of my WE9 disc and I can't find any scratches or fingerprints.

So, do you think it's a game error that it takes so long to load the substitution cut scene? I remember that in WE8 and PES4, the cut scene for the substitutions loaded a lot faster. And they could be skipped almost immediately.

Most deffo.. Think if theres no scratches on cd.. could it be your lens?.. have you recently had your ps2 reconditioned cleaned or anything?
I have trouble with mine on some games but thankfully not on my beloved PES games.

No, my lens hasn't had any kind of reconditioning or anything like that.

I do clean it every now and then with a conventional CD Lens Cleaner.

Is it a patched version? If so, what speed did you burn it at?

It's not a patched version. It's an original WE9 disc.

Menu's and font is still in Japanese.

yeah, that's such a pain in the ass when it's a tight game in the final minutes and you get a corner and then the sub comes out
then again it is realistic because a lot of times subs are used to interrupt the flow of the game
but for a video game 3-4 seconds is an eternity

it may be due to a dirty lens....At one time my PS2 totally was not able to start any games... i have to tilt the whole console to ridiculous angles and i might have a chance that it will read.....

opened up the console and cleaned the lens, and guess wat, the cotton bud i used turned black after cleaning it.....

check out http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Guides/ps2diy/
to see how to clean the lens prperly....

I did it myself..... gd luck

My original WE9 loads in a few seconds, patched copy loads in about 10. I thought that would have been the problem? Strange one, maybe just a slightly dodgy disk or something.
