dusted off NHL 11 the other weekend and re-hooked. Such a well made and realistic game. Left analog controls your legs, right analog your upper body. Incredible controls.
I love wonderfully intuitive controls. EA's 'skate' series has undoubtedly the finest control system that I've ever experienced to date. It sounds like they've transferred it, or at least the idea behind it into their other games now as well if it's included in NHL 11.
In 'skate', if you're not aware, you use the left analog stick to steer your character and board, while the right stick controls the trick movements. Anyway, I'll let a couple of very short videos do the demonstrating, makes it a lot more simple!

Unfortunately, it seems EA may be done with the 'skate' franchise. Their new innovative control system which they implemented for their first skate game probably 3-4 years ago now, absolutely killed off the Tony Hawks button-mashing era. Now that Tony Hawks game are no longer being produced (I don't think), or at least they're not selling at all, I guess EA feel they can just take a break and rest, as after a trilogy of superb skating games, there's no word on whether there will ever be a skate 4 released.
