What do you see wrong with pes08?

Can i just say that every year pes comes out and because even the hardened player struggles to move with ease from one pes to the next everyone starts to av a moan. I think that konami are very clever in changing just enough to make us learn the basics again every year for examle pes 6 it took a number of matches to be able to strike it cleanly from outsie the box. Also obviously fifa makes drastic changes every year, the reason for this is simple the basis of there game is crap and in a vain attempt to catch the king of football gams they have to start again yes they have the edge in the sponsors and graphics but it is still a million miles away in gameplay. I downloaded the demo as so many gave it a reasonable review and I must say that pes 1 was more realsistic than the same old hite that ea try to bring out. The graphics on pes 2008 are next gen and lets be honest they only come in to there own on close ups and how many of you play thegame sing a close up camera. Its the same every year but if any of you are playing pes 5 or 6 on your ps3's after the release date then you can start having a moan ..........but I bet your not you will be online trying to beat the best around on the best game around. also even the people hwhinging are wishing awy the days to release along with the rest of us. bring it on


Does anyone know how it will wok online.It there like a leagues as withxbox online were you gain points by winning games or are sony still a little behind microsoft in his depatrment.

Additionally, I have been addicted to footy games since C 64 times, Match day, Microprose Socccer, E.H Soccer (legend), Soccer II, Sensible Soccer, Kick Off etc. Anyway, It is strange that yesterday, I played another another 10-15 matches, sometimes they attempted shooting. Seeing a few attempts is better than no attempt, although they hardly try it. Now, I can cleraly state that following issues bore me a little bit more.

*Game is to fast, so players have no time to think to move cleverly, just move randomly. Fast game speed make impossible the long range shoots.
*Goalies are really crap. Even they can not get the easiest balls.
*Ball make me feel like made of marble or iron. Pitch doesnt affect the movement of the ball. (probably due to its high weight)
* Stadiums and fans look ugly.
*Sometimes collosions between players make game too chaotic.
*CPU's always try high thru balls, no variations, where is the long range shoots??

The game aint too fast mate.....it will be your monitor refresh rate is set too high...

The game runs at 60Hz. End of Story

If you have your monitor at a retina saving 75Hz......then you are increasing the gamespeed by around 25%.

IMO, pace and acceleration of players have been exaggeratted to much. (I know frequncy of LCD may affect it.) You can move from the sideline to the other sideline in a few seconds. I think spped of it shoud be decreased a little bit. I know this year I spend al my time on PES 2008, but the speed of the game, stupid goalies and CPU 's style will make me crazy. just wait' the final release.

Anyway I'm not so sure Seabass is so cynical about it. There was nothing glaring about PES2007; the last couple of versions have been massive improvements.

If I can get but one person to put down the controller and lace up the boots, I've done my job... doubly so if I can get another American to do it. Plus, this site would be dull as hell without people like myself who stir the shit once in a while.

Short Passing out of defence is worse than ever.

Through balls actually feel worse than ever (and that's saying something)
Computer 'cheats' even more than ever (I went 2-0 ahead and ended up losing 7-3) By cheating I mean those times when you just cant win the ball back unless you hack him down.

I hate the view when defending a corner (introduced in v6)

The noises the ball makes when struck are really really really crap.
Did they thump a damp cardboard box with a haddock?

The diving is stupid and then ref is still never booking the computer men and it still looks like the old handballs are still in there (you know those REALLY mysterious freekicks you give away and there is no commentary)

Has the gameplay on a final release ever been different from the demo ?


New graphics are nice though and it's MILES better than FIFA 08 which I've been playing. Why cant Konami at least include more make believe divisions/teams/countries so then we can just mod it up proper !


oh... and the way the ball rolls along the ground like a marble on glass is ridiculous. I know the friction will increase for wet conditions butits way too low on the demo pitch.

tisk tisk konami...bloody failing once again...that is untill it comes out..im sure our perspectives might change..mhmm..cant wait for that ps3 demo 2moro...then maybe ill c a bit of the real deal..the pc demo is gettin old and quick..i think the replays are a little bit 2 long..its a nice addition dont get me wrong but...jeesh...wayyy 2 extensive.

but i doubt the short-strided prancing will be changed.

i noticed that but those players that take shorter strides have alot more free movement when running. i mean they change direction alot more quicker.

the one thing i do hate s the angle of the camera when saving penalties. its awful

yea that angles terrible..yes i do admit the moves and skill play r very slick in this version..i love megging the opponents n such...but omg...these goalies are terrrible!!!!!!!!! why is it so easy 4 me 2 play on top player? i just beat portugal with brazil 6-2...like nothing...

one more thing I noticed from screenshots. The squads wont be updated. However, they announced that it willl be updated after 31th of August. I hoped we could see the latest transfers. While looking Galatasaray Squad, I saw old players such as Tomas, Ferhat etc. Where is the updated squad? Additionally, there are just a few players resembling their real appearence.

If you are a PC gamer, then you can get a patch for some shit-hot crowd chants......Why such sound is not just included in the game to begin with is beyond me.......Lazy Bastards, resting on their laurels of having produced a football engine which WAS as perfect as it possibly could be for its day.....PES3.

But still, everyone is still gonna buy ProEv2008 and will probably sell more copies than ever before........Maybe I will just steal it of the Newsgroups or something......and then decide if the full version is actually worth £20 or not.

OK, so I've played the 2008 demo for about 4 hours now and I've decided it's utter rubbish. Here's why, and go ahead and flame me all you want but this is the truth...

1/ The goal keepers are incredibly awful. I mean useless to the point where I'd rather start the game with 10 men! They pull off impossible saves and fumble or drop the easiest of catches. Had one ball trickle off Torres to the keeper who threw himself down to stop it, fumbled it to the waiting striker for a goal. I mean even I could have made a cuppa, had dinner, knocked one out, put a blindfold on and STILL have time to stop it myself! Crap. Utter crap.

2/ The game is too fast. Cross the ball from one side to the other and it might as well been shot from a cannon! As for free kicks, whenever the comp takes one the game camera actually can't keep up with it because it travels so fast! Who was testing this game, Stevie Wonder!!??

3/ Computer cheats more than ever. It's true; we all know the ball bounces and deflects kindly for the losing computer side, always has. But this is ridiculous. In one game I led 2-0 at half time and for the entire 2nd half (against Turkey) I think I touched the ball twice. EVERY challenge and tackle pinballed it to yet another Turkish player. Complete b*****ks!

What have Konami done? ISS Pro Evolution 2 on the PSone was, in my opinion, the greatest football game ever. Simply sublime. How can they mess it up so horribly?
Now, I appreciate and understand this is only a demo. Hell, if they tweak the game and make it better than this complete mess I will hold my hands up and apologise, no problem. But with just a month til release date I don't see it happening. Honestly, Pro Evo 6 (X360) wasn't great but it's so much better than this complete toss!

What are your thoughts?

I suppose thats true to a certain degree. I mean, the people that have never really been into the game of football itself might have a good time being blissfully unaware of how lacking PES is. BUT, all the people I've exposed PES to have said that it's too realistic... in that, playing for real is easier and more fun. Albeit, the consensus here is that it's much more fun to play against a human opponent than the comp.
