What does PES2008 get right?

We have all bashed PES2008 in one way or another and hopefully, Konami has gotten the message, but what do you think is good about PES2008?

I'll start us off with an easy one:
Tight Controls: As always the controls remain more or less unchanged and even though there have been some flaws, the movement on pitch is still as good as ever, you want to stop dribbling? its done within a milisecond with the same fluidity we've all come to love.. next up is..

The world tour mode feature is an awesome addition although i hear its not on all versions but still a great addition for me!!

NAY WE ARE BUT MEN. ROCK.
The more you play it the more you notice the gameplay does change during the match and the AI changes its tactics to the scoreline... going forward more when down and defending more when ahead.

Whilst I'm enjoying Fifa, I'd say the movement of PES08 and the graphics are leaps and bounds ahead, but Fifa doesn't feel so one-sided when all your players are fatigued.

hands down:

In the US version, you no longer have to choose the language every single time you start up the game! It remembers! Konami has caught up to 1992!!!

In my opinion, pretty much everything.

It would be nice to see a few extras but the game as it is is great to play.

What the game gets right is the promise of a great sequel, gameplay-wise. While I am one of the proponents that PES 2008 is pretty much a mess, that does not mean it should be thrown away and redone from scratch, as there are clear improvements over the PS2 games, particularly in player movement and response. My opinion is that there are just two or three things that bring the gameplay down, and they are speed/pace, AI, and stats tweaking (e.g. players with 90+ balance can sail through a team's defense single-handedly).

The physics feel just right, the animations are sweet, and the player models are truly realistic. Plus the classic PES feeling and breathtaking plays, vertigo included, are still there.

It's a pity that the three weak points I mentioned have such a noticeable effect and bring the gameplay down so much, otherwise it would have been a great game.
