OMG,people who say PES4 is better than any other PES doesnt know anything,PES4 is the biggest let down in the series,end of line.PES5 is still the best one,its the most closest to reality,so I retink of starting to play 5 than 6.At first I thought PES6 is supeior,I lost 5 or 6 games in a row and I was happy I can lose now,but after 2 days,yes 2 DAYS,I beat Barcelona with Milan 8-2 with 6 goals of Gilardino,thats so so so SO unrealistic,Top Player is like 3*.The shooting is CRAP,total one,I can score from 45 yards,yet I miss from 2?!Whats the point then in geting the ball into space,when I can just shoot,even if I dont score it will scratch the post from the centre...The passing is men-to-men now(long pass) and its so accurate with everyone,there is no differnce now between Pirlo and Favalli for example,also I cant create gaps with long pass,because it reaches the target man to his feet in 90% of the cases.If you watch real match you will see how inaccurate the passes are,but are the only way to beat defence sometimes,but that doesnt mean it will work always!!!!The pace is slower than WE10,thats true,but the change of animations is the same,whoever said it looks fluid,look again.You can do a feint,turn,shoot in less than 2 seconds.When an animations is cancelled it looks rubbish.

Thats my rant and no,its not because I didnt get used to it,now I again cant lose a match even with Team F against Barcelona,its too easy and its a big step back,BUT IS STILL BETTER THAN PES4!!!!!

where do i start?? how about passing, they have ruined the way the game flows by using this new passing engine. for example a pass that should be straight forward turns into a sort of miss kick that travels so slow that the opposition has time to nip in and take possesion, and the comp chooses the most stupid pass for you sometimes in pes5 you passed the ball where you wanted it to go, pes6 has become a lottery.

tackling? omg what the f00k have they done here then? in pes5 the whole idea was to stop people using the x button, in my eyes pes6 is geared up for those that like to keep their finger firmly on x. and also it doesnt matter where you are on the pitch whenever you do tackle the comp (thats if your man decides to react) the ball either rebounds off you straight into touch giving the comp possesion or goes straight to another comp player.

shooting? they have well and truly buggered this. why when you are 4 yards away from goal and you tap the shoot button does the comp decide that you spooned the ball into row z? also i was playing tonight won 5 - 1 and every goal was from 20 yards plus its so easy to score from long range, yet get in close the ball will ether come down with snow on it or its nearer the corner flag??

gameplay? the whole feel of the game has changed the players are so unresponsive you dont feel as though you are in control at any time, feels abit like a philips cdi game really, pre-rendered gameplay. the idea in pes6 is to pass the ball around looking for openings, fair enough. so why does the comp collect the ball and then find the quickest route possible to goal?? also comp strikers sit nicely in front of your defence, collect the ball and have bags of time to decide what to do next. why cant a human player close down the cpu's attacker with 3 defenders?

like i said im gonna get some shit for this post but i dont care konami have systematically taken the best bits from the pes series and replaced them to turn pes6 into a fifa 95 button pressing monster.

i have tried so hard to like this game, as the pes series for me is the best football/sports sim on any format, but the 17.99 price tag is too much i feel for just a glorified add on disk.

Is it realistic that real players "glide" each time they turn or change direction!? and loose the ball!?
Is it realistic that Gerrards passes are so slow that they never reach the destination & are caught up by CPU!?
Is its realistic that Ronaldinho shoots the ball 10m above goal when shooting from 3-4 meters away!?
Is it realistic that you dont get a penalty when CPU trip you from behind in the moment of a shot on goal in the box?
Is it realistic that shiiiiit players catch up with Etoo or martins in sprints!?

Its near to reality,not perfect,and yes,thats the point of PES,to be like the real one,Fifa is a "game" as you prefer.

In PES5 it was to easy to pass the ball. It always went exactly to the player you wanted. That is not how it should be.

Ok, you might be right with the tackling system. As for the X button I have nothing to say, defenders should and usually tackle hard.

Because if you always score from inside the box you'll get scores like FIFA (6-5, 7-6, 8-1) and that is not very interesting. In real life even Henry can miss one-on-ones! Twice? Well maybe. I remeber the Uefa CL last year when he missed a crucial one and I'm shure he misses many more. Shots from outside the box work pretty well but the problem is that you won't get to many chances like that agains a good team.

Tell me the name of the team that plays with 3 defenders in real life and has good performances. I think you can close down the CPU's strikers with 3 defenders but you shure can't close down his wingers. I rememeber that in PES5 I needed a lot of time to learn how to play 3-4-3. In PES6 I still can't play but that means I have to work harder right? That is a good thing.

Well maybe you are right, I haven't played PES4 and untill now I considered PES5 to be the best sim. However I enjoy playin' PES6 because it's a chalenge. Hope you'll like this game or at least PES 7, I wouldn't like to see a PES fan playin' FIFA and swearing EA Shits.

I dnt agree with any of the points about it being bad, basically because i have a perfect rhthym with this game. I pass, pass, pass, pass,cross, header/volley GOAL!! I pass pass pass Shot from 30 yards, GOAL!! So all the moaning about shooting.. yea sumtimes you hit it over the bar but only when you are at ridiculous angles and under pressure of being tackled. I have been playing this game for bout 2/3 weeks now, and i must say, I love it. I find passing a lot more precise with the ability to actually split the defence with a through ball, I find tackling much more lenient than 5 but not too lenient. Shooting, I love more than ever, because of the amount of 3040 yard screamers i've scored, even scored a 20 yard volley with Evander Sno. Truth is, if you're using theR1 and R2 buttons in conjunction, it works a treat. People who usually complain are people who can't play the game very well or people who have only just started playing. Remember PES 4?? At the very start, this is shit, they've ruined PES Blah Blah, then a month or two later, BEST PES EVER!!! So give the game a chance to settle and actually adapt to the new style before slating it.

It pisses me off when my player is clean through on goal and with a tap of the shoot button performs a weak little chip that rolls into the keepers hands... even when he appears to be fully balanced and on his good foot. Seems to happen randomly.

Other than that I think it's a great game.. haven't played next gen FIFA 07 yet so I can't compare but I'm happy with PES6.

I recently started using the RT slow dribble and it's really effective. I used to think it was all about speed.. but using RT you can leave defenders behind with slow players too (like Zidane, Del Piero etc.)

Thw shooting system is BAD,because its TOO ACCURATE,not because I cant score,but because I score too much.The tackles suck too,you make a clean one,then a glitch happens and the opponent is diving ridicolous,that gives a red cards.Sometimes you dont press any button and your teammate tackles the opponent from behind,that also is a red card,unintended one.The fouls are way less and the cards are way too much.
Pes4 realy ruined the series,its the only one I deleted from my PC.I dont say PES6 is bad,its just unpolished and thats the only thing Konami are doing,polishing,so its like they are doing almost nothing to improve.

i was robbed by the ref last night as I had a player sent off which ended up getting me knocked out in the semi final of the D2 cup. I swear that good old Valeny played the ball before the man, but it seems that any tackle from even slightly behind the player is a foul and a card, and as he was last man it was a red. and then didn't my striker get fouled by the opposition last man and he didn't get sent off? I was fuming! but i don't blame PES6, because that's what football is really like. in a way, my frustration was proof of PES's brilliance!
and then i got stuffed in the last game of the season when all my players were tired, but fortunately second place only drew so I hung on to top spot for promotion, and earned just (JUST!) enough cash to cover my wages and stop me going bust!
Talk about pressure going into last game (fail to get promotion and go bust)
Talk about despair when i was 3-0 down in less than 10 minutes
Talk about relief when 2nd place (palmeiras?) failed to win and I stayed top.

that's why PES rocks.

Theres also no "spirited fightback" with another human that the computer gets EVERY SINGLE MATCH that you are winning (around the 85th minute)

Yah, you're so right...I got the game last weekend and to be honest...it's still a great game but PES5 had much more of an impact over PES4 than PES6 has over PES5 (I guess), the new moves are alright...they look pretty realistic although most times are useless (?), at least for me, it's very rare for me to stop the player at 100%, I only do it when the ball bounces back from a side cross to turn around...I managed to do the Matthew's (?) move once when the ball bounced back and got past the sideback which looked awesome, pretty realistic and cool too
The fact that the CPU hardly misses makes me...not mad, not frustrated but a bit disappointed, because I try to circle the ball through the players, progressing in the field with lots of passes and trying to shoot from outside the box, and the CPU can score just by putting it inside the box then a bad clear, 50 rebounds and my own player ends up putting it inside the goal...did you ever get that? It looks like it's meant for the CPU to win/tie the match...
Other thing about playing another human...as infp said...they play like...people...I mean, how many times did I slide like an idiot trying to guess where the CPU was going? It should happen more when playing against CPU, but I never aproved Human VS CPU...
About the shooting...oh well, I can't say it's the perfect system, I miss loads of times, I shoot the ball so over the bar, but I mean like 70º shots..but the best thing is that when you actually get it on, the ball flies just right into it, the GK stretches to get the ball...which did not happen in PES5...The best improvement is the GK imo no doubt...
I don't have the game for so long but hopefully shots will get better as I get used to it...

you make very good points about the game and if i had read this a couple days after i bought it i would have been saying the exact same thing.

The passing felt impossible aswell as the shooting and the dribbling and dont even get me started on the goalkeepers. but like the previous pes's it has taken a while for me to adjust to it.

Alot more emphasis has been placed on passing and movement in this game so fluid passers of the pes series wouldnt take that long to adjust but alot is also to do with the teamwork of the players, trust me on that. the higher the teamwork the better players are positioned to recieve passes.

I remember reading an interview somewhere where it was said that some styles of play that were successfull in pes5 are not in pes6 so that could be part of it

My advice don't compare it to any other game take it as you see it because only then will you notice the difference and realise that this truly is the best pes made!

in my opinion.. pes5 was very monotonous, in the sense that there were few ways to score.. such as the run down the wing , cut back , pass and shoot. whereas in pes6 there are more ways to score, tight angle shots are easier to score , and most of all , its easier to outmuscle a player rather than in pes5.. even the weakest defender can outmuscle your adriano .

It's simple, since Pes3 Konami thought they had made it... Pes4 was just a little update from Pes4 and thus still nice to play but Pes5 en 6 really suck in comparison to Pes3 !

I am really at a point where I say , just give me Pes3 with a database update & online feature and I would be EXTREMELY happy !

hhi there.first you have to excuse my english but then i have to say that everything you said is 100 % right!what the hell have they done with the passing game?the passes are that slow,in german we say "da musste noch ein Brot hinterher schicken damit der Ball nicht verhungert".So fucking slowly!maybe i have to train a litlebit more but has anyone stopped a cmp striker using the x-button????most of the time i believe my defenders doesn´t react anyway.if the defender runs close behind the striker and you press the x-button he doesn´t do anything,no little foul or something else.you only have the chance with a sliding tackle and then your defender is sent off!!!and why the hell is the hole team runinng to it´s own penaltybox when the cmp has the ball???konami told us shooting goals would be easier.easy???i think a stupid pig would score in pes6.of course the moves of the players look great but the fun of the game turns to zero.

A big problem of PES is you can get "used to it" dont you think?You can get unbeaten,no matter the team,if you just learn to play.That is supposed to never hapen in a simulation,the AI should be unpredictable.I know the PS2 hardware is so old,but ive seen games on it with FAR better AI.
I really enjoyed PES6 the first 4-5 matches because I lost them all,at last I got chalenge...then I get used to it and now is boring again.The game flaws doesnt help either.I am sure is more fun against human,BUT I have 96kbps so the lag is killing me.
Give me chalenge in PES7,thats what I want and make it consistent,not once in a year.As the game will be produced for next gen only(PC included) it should improve drasticaly.The people who said the game is hard just cant play it...
