What If FIFA 07 manages to surpass PES6?

I'm genuinely excited about what EA, FIFA 07 (360) & Konami, PES6 (PS2, 360, DS) have to offer us Football fans this year, hence I have them all on preorder LOL.

Form your own opinion, play the games before passing judgement. Else join the herds of closed minded Fan boys.

Exactly... a lot of people on here need to take those bit of knowledge to heart.

Nobody besides the people at the game critics sites has played the next gen version of FIFA 07. I've said this on another forum, you can't feel what you can see on your computer moniter... much to many people's dismay. You have to know how it feels before you are legitamately able to talk down/up on it.

i'm not too sure. I use to play fifa but PES is so much more realistic. You can tell differences between player size. Bigger players able to hold ball to smaller and smaller players (Wright-Phillips) utilize their quickness to get around bigger ones. First time i played the game I was surprised to see u could kick the ball out for fair play when someone is injured, and still get the ball back. Plus there are more animation count ingame than there are in Fifa. I read that Fifa's fixing alot of these stuff (animation, gameplay and actually being able to tell speed differencial !!!!). But they still have a long way to go to catch up to PES gameplay wise.

Surely thats the 'amazing' feature they have for us this year.. fair play. Wow.

But the rest is all the same.

PES is better.

Note, the following is all presumption and my opinion as I haven't played either games but... I think FIFA is headed in the right direction. I think it'll still lack in the gameplay department compared to PES, but they're getting there, and that's the important thing. I'm guessing 2008 (with FIFA 09) will be the year we see both games really being close. But I think FIFA has made important strides to try and win real football fans back and that's good for all of us. It could be all hype, but you never know. I'm willing to give FIFA the benefit of the doubt and give the game a shot. You just never know...

In the past year I've played both FIFA 06 and WE9I a ton. Personally, WE9I is my choice between these two; however, I think that some of the 'lite management' elements that FIFA has in it's version of Master League are great. When it comes to gameplay, and I mean 'most realistic gameplay', I believe that WE9I/PES5 is superior hands down. Thus, IMHO the IDEAL game would be a WE/PES base with a bit more TO DO in the Master League. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE playing the games in WE/PES but even they get repetitive when it takes all of 20 seconds to make lineup changes in between matches. I actually prefer the detail given to the FIFA League/Dynasty mode. I'm sure I can't be the only one out there of this opinion...

Thus, I'm anxious to see what IMPROVEMENTS each one makes and which is, as it was put earlier, moving in the right direction.

The thing i would prefer to see in ML for PES6 would be the ability to be a manager that can change clubs and seek new challenges with other clubs.

Fifa does have a better manager mode(master league). But their sub system sux balls. They do not understand there a forwards that play midfield and midfielders that play as forwards or defenders, maybe even both. I think their goal was to make sure players play their prefered position in manager mode but it doesnt work that way in real life. Hope they change it in 07.

That said PES needs to work on manager mode. They need to add fake second division teams for each league that are completely editable. During master league other leagues should have teams relegated also.

Well its that time of year again when the 2 football games go head to head.

As usual the die hard fans of Pro Evo are refusing to give Fifa a chance, but I think its ignorant to say it will be crap.

The 360 version is looking very promising to me, and yes im a big pro evo player.

You cant judge a game untill you have played it, you cant make a judgement off a low res beta version video.

But as usual some people will refuse to give it a chance.

If it happens to have everything it says it has here then i will reconsider. Because it's just the gameplay for fifa that really hurts the game. I hope all the players they didnt happen to create faces for don't all look the same and they work on sizes of players (short, tall, built, skinny, ronaldo).

http://fifa07.ea.com/gameinfo/gameplay/

Gameplay has been a huge focus for the FIFA 07 team, tweaking every aspect of play from how the ball acts to the variety of player movement in the game. Here are some of the highlights:

IMPROVED GAMEPLAY: Passing and positioning have all been enhanced. Players jostle and collide realistically while trying to win balls. Carefully tweaked assisted passing also lends a more fluid feel to the game.

REALISTIC PLAYER MOVEMENT - FIFA 07 features over 1500 new animations over a third of which are for shooting. Out of the game's 4,500 animations almost half have been redone or tweaked. Goalies also have many new animations so their reactions are more realistic, particularly on second saves. Quick players have also been tweaked so they're better able to accelerate past defenders.

STAR PLAYERS: The finest players in football will have their special moves in FIFA 07. Use the trick stick to have Ronaldo, Robino, Ronaldinho, Blanco and others do their footwork magic or watch as Roberto Carlos or Lampard take their signature free kick.

ADVANCED GOALKEEPER AI: Goalkeeper intelligence is authentic, with true-to-life reactions and a greater variety of deflections and saves.

SET PLAYS: Use the left analog stick to apply topspin or backspin to the ball for more creative set plays and finesse shots. Ball physics have been redone from scratch this go round so the ball will spin, bounce and generally move how it should. Players can now curve, shank and slice the ball depending on the situation.

NEW SHOOTING MECHANICS: Experience a more sophisticated shooting mechanic that gives you greater control for pin-point accuracy. Shots on goal from regular play are more realistic - the game takes into account player speed, shot angle and speed and how much pressure the player is under. New ball physics accurately recreate bouncing, skidding and topspin.

SHOW OFF WHILE THE PRESSURE IS OFF: If things are really going well for your team some players will start showing off some stylish move, pulling off cheeky moves and sneaky shots now the pressure is off.

The first 2 shots are from the regular Xbox mate...............

Anyways, for us guys in N.America it's quite a simple solution for me every year, I get FIFA in the fall and trade it in for WE in January/February when it comes out.

All 3 are from the 360 mate. According to numerous game sites and review sites.

I'll do what I do pretty much every year, I'll rent FIFA, as I'm not blind enough to just go out and buy it hoping it will be better, that's a fools trick. However the last 8 years I have rented it I haven't liked any, then people wonder why I haven't any high hopes for the game ?

Only a couple look good, the rest seem to be rather ugly and inaccurate to be honest. They seemed to have fluffed their front man Rooney up the same way Konami can't get Terry right. :(

If the gameplay is improved vastly then I'm sure it will be great but I can still imagine FIFA concentrating on whether you want your haircut for charity or what your next boot sponsor will be.

hahahaha, ur rite. What the hell did they do to Rooney. Graphic a good though and it seems all the players will be the same height, weight and build again.

The thing with Fifa is, no matter how much it has been improved, you end up seeing the same goals, the same shots and saves etc over and over again - which makes the game feel even more unrealistic and gives you far, far less control than PES.

Also, the way the team moves is so unrealistic, and when you attack, it's just you and the other striker - nobody comes from midfield to support you. On PES, it just looks more like real football simply because the team moves around the pitch realisticly and make good runs for you.

Every year they always say they have improved on these things - but it's never the case. If, as the PS2 magazine states, they have 'fixed the ball' this year, then it could take the game a big step towards PES, but any bets a shedload of work will still need to be done.

If Fifa surpasses PES I will eat all my clothing and burn down my house and then live in a bin outside Scope, not a small dustbin but a big SKip style bin. Also may I say what a daft thing to contemplate
