What's really bad in WE 9 and PES 5...

sry if someone wrote about this before, but I didn't check the forums really long time and have no time to scan through. so, here goes my moaning...

first of all, I mostly play WE/PES (on PS2) with my cousin - we play together in the team against the computer. secondly, we play on the hardest level (6 stars, which you can acquire when you collect enough pes points) and we mostly play the hardest type - the master league starting with the default players. we never buy any prominent players when we manage to get some extra money. also, we play the game with manual long-pass and player switching config and with auto save games (so when you lose you cannot load the status and replay the match). the bottom point is - we try to make the game as hard as it can be.

my cousin and I were so happy when we finally got new PES. and after a short time of admiring the new game, we found (what we belive is) a big glitch, noticable only when you play with another human player at your side: when you're doing the one-two pass with your mate and the switch to another player (3rd) after you pass the ball, your player on the screen will first automatically run backward/toward the ball, after which you gain control to run where you intentionally wanted to.

this makes the game often totally unplayable, at least to such hardcore fans as us. because you just cannot make that nice advantage which you otherwise would pull. as, when one-two pass happens (maybe I should call it 'one-two-three' pass in fact), your player undesirably and automatically runs where it should least run - mostly to the back toward your own goal instead to the front where you're passing the ball.

I dunno how many people noticed this, I guess most people play the game by themselves and not with another mate at their side. maybe it's something related to the difficulty level, but I doubt it.

cousin and I tried everything we could think of: from changing manual/automatic gamepad and player switching controls (although we would hate playing with anything to even semi-auto), to trying the WE instead of PES. but in WE the problems seems to be present just like in PES, maybe only a little less.

although I must say that this is the first time we tried WE (we always played PES) and that we think WE is a little better game. it was WE9 + Fernando v5. maybe it's totally subjective, but it feels like WE is a little slower in pace (which I prefer) and somehow plays a little better than PES. I dunno.

anyway, we're now sticking with WE, but we just cannot enjoy the game like we did before. this few-steps-auto-running-in-the-bad-direction thing which occurs with 'one-two-three' passes just spoils it enough for seasoned players spoiled by the all previous Konami's great PES/WE releases...

I would appreciate any comments on this - anyone else noticed this or how to fix it (just please don't say to turn the switch in the head ;))...

yes, didn't help as far as I remember. but if it did, it'd be pretty clumsy and awkward to have to do it like this every time (if I remember correctly, super cancel default is R1+R2, right?). tnx for reply though.

btw my cousin read my post and said I maybe didn't explain the glitch in the best way, so I try to revamp:

- you pass the ball to the second human player. but instead of doing the one-two pass and starting to run with the player with which you made the pass, you want to switch to some other field player.

- so while the ball is still traversing, you switch to some other field player wanting to start running with him (usually toward the enemy goal).

- GLITCH: (ball is still traversing) but as soon as you switch, that player will first automatically start running toward the ball, although the ball wasn't meant for him nor you wanted him to run toward the ball.

- after few steps towards the ball (when the other human player receives the traversing ball which you passed to him), the controls start to listen and the player finally start to run where you pointed with your gamepad (usually toward the enemy goal).

---

so this is what drives us crazy. we can't pull off many nice actions as you lose significant space advantage due to this issue.

sry if my english is bad and I hope you understand what I'm talking about (we're from Croatia :))...
