I don't think their is any difference between 3* and 6*. They both seem easy 2 me:D

I am begining to see what you mean. I won 7 - 0 on 6* earlier.

If you are just starting out it is better to play on a lower difficulty. Its more fun as well sometimes. I have two Master League files, one on 3* and one on 6* so wether I want a challenge on just a few hundred scoring chances I got them both.

I was only jokin Orky :)

Playing al longer game settings

I can imagine this type of thing happening but I really wouldnt want to increase the game length - the score would just get stupid and it would take way too long.

Could be... The weird thing is that if I go maximum time (30 min) and 4 stars I can score 5-7 goals, but at 20 minutes and 4 stars it seems to be about right (2-1, 3-2, etc.) for scoring, though I average waaay too many shots on goal. Another thing about longer time settings - you definitely get a more attacking AI and the AI team scores more.

The reason I have been playing longer games is I have been getting a much better "ebb and flow" gameplay experience; the AI will come at me hard, putting me in a very defensive position; sometimes I can counterattack successfully, but sometimes I have to sweat it out and then methodically move the ball up the pitch, etc. Another cool thing about longer games is that you can really see a team's spirit "break" if you get up on them late in the game, and have a chance to score easily at that point on.

The AI "switching" thing is also much more noticeable in longer games; you really notice attacking flurries followed by a period where the play is more "give and take", etc. The excellent AI versatility is shown more when playing longer games.

A warning, though; It is also much easier to be thoroughly beaten when playing longer matches - I have been playing a while and would be counted as an experienced ML player (More seasons than I can count over the last 3 years, and head to head play also) and I just had my pretty good ML team whipped by Arsenal 5-1 in a cup match this week (20 minute setting) and I can tell you that I have never been beaten that badly at 5 or 6 star level, let alone 4 star! They had 27 shots, 16 on target, and I've never allowed that many shots in a game before. But it was fun getting revenge in the league match the following week by beating them (1-0)

I really recommend playing around with the time settings - you don't necessarily score more if you keep the difficulty level up.

One other thing - In ML play, have any of you noticed that certain Clubs give you more trouble than others, even allowing for the talent differences? To be clear; certain team(s) that regularly seem to be more difficult to beat than they should be, when compared to playing a powerhouse team...? Just curious. Almost like their particular AI style causes you more trouble - even allowing for different formations, etc.

Cheers

I might try fiddling with the time settings but if anything I need to make them shorter - I can comfortably score 4 or 5 in a match now.

I agree that in ML some teams are just extremely hard to beat even though they may not be particuarly good. In my last season I lost only two games in all competitions, both against Porto. I tried different formations and players but could not score past them - wierd!
