Doesn't L2+X activate a strategy?

Do you mean different buttons or do you change your controls?

That's amazing no?? I always think this way... but this function in defense, brightens up the falls by referee!!!

It's logical in the game the Strategy changes, but's the focus is not stop with falll!!!

And I never change button functions in the game, try this alternative and then, talk to me....

Hey Guys,
According to the in-game training, you have to approach the ball possessor and:

Block his path and potential passes until your team mates arrive. The tutorial message emphasized not to tackle the ball possessor until help from your team mates arrive. Very useful tip.

Team mates in position? Moving on;

Try to force your opponent to dribble towards your team mate while performing the second press :square:.

This is difficult in concept but very easy to perform. The better you put pressure on the opponent and force him to expose himself to the second player, the easier it is for the second player to steal the ball. However, this isn’t a fool proof technique. Skilled opponents sometimes perform miraculous feints, dribbles and shots on the expense of my second player. So, all the info in the tutorial is still correct. However, if you suspect your opponent might find an gap where your second player is coming from, press :L1: after your first player completely blocks the opponent and the second player is ready to steal the ball to switch the roles of your players and react accordingly.

You will know if you correctly positioned both players to intercept if you are able to steel the ball by simply holding :x: and :square:

That's what the game says in a nut shell. Other defensive tips such as :R1:+:R2: can be implemented in this technique to a level that would truly frustrate your human opponents, except yours truly.

I steal most balls by simply using nothing except direction pad. :R1: is evil in so many ways, :x: results in more fouls. I use those if I have no choice but to take them down, which is useful to stop counter attacks and slow their momentum. If I'm not caught on a counter then the 1st method is perfect, will result in fouls only about 10% for me, u can run side by side and bump them off without committing a foul, great if using player with good balance (88+). Just run onto the ball at their feet diagonally and its urs if the def rating is good enuff. Otherwise its better to just stick with ur man and block his path and force him to make a crappy pass. Don't be too close cuz it'll be easier to get around u, and too far it'll be easier to cross/pass.

If your talking about PES5, :square: is rubbish and is to be avoided!

:square: is my fav and most used def button, not in the sense of holding it to steal a ball. I use it in short bursts to defend with AI while I control a player behind and mark someone else. I'll hold it for intentional fouls. It is used for headers, clearances (especially off the goal line), it can perform perfect sliding tackles when u know when to use it. So I can't agree with u on this one. :R1: or :x: are 'rubbish', but useful in certain situations, like intentional fouls.
