Which one do I want to be able to play a patched PES?

Hi, I'm currently on the look out for getting my PS2 to be able to play 'backup' games and also imports. I've been looking on www.psxservices.co.uk at the various different products available. I'm against going with the option of sending my PS2 away to be chipped up, so was going to go for one of the following:

PS2 Swap Magic Discs (with Slide Card)
PS-X Change v2.0 Boot Disk

Ok... The main reason for me getting one of these is because I have heard that you are able to play PES with patches? Apparently you can have proper kits (with sponsors and everything), proper stadiums with advertising boardings, pitch logos, etc...?? I would also like to play import games too, but this is secondary to PES!!!

The things I would like to know is :

1. Is the above mentioned about being able to play Pro Evo with proper kits, etc... true? And how do you go about doing it? Do you need special software/hardware?
2. Which of the above mentioned products would allow me to play a 'patched' PES?

Thank you

Paul

But if you have a spare hard drive and xport plus network adaptor you can play alll of the WE with out any problems thoses methods above have some problems.

I would go for getting an X-Port or X-Link, and getting a Hrad Drive and a Sony Network Adapter. The Slide Card is getting out of fashion.

So whats this option then? Getting a hard drive and a Netwrok adapter?

Could you explain this a bit please? I'm new on all this sort of stuff!!

Well if you get any IDE hard drive, there are non specific just for PS2, PC ones will work. You get a Sony Network Adapter as well. Then on the back of your PS2 there is an expansion bay. You put the hard drive there, along with the Sony Adapter. Then get Xlink or Xport, then you transfer the HD loader program to the HD.

Sounds good... Where can I get one from and how much would I be looking to spend? Hang on... how do you get your PS2 games onto the HD in the first place!!

What is the FLIP TOP LID option? Is that better than the Slide Card? How do they compoare? I understand they both use Swap Magic Discs?

I was looking at the HD option too and was trying to work out how you get a patched version from your pc to the PS2 HD.

I am correct in assuming you :
i) slap any old IDE drive into the expansion bay along with a sony network adaptor
ii) get hold of HDLoader (which I believe has been banned thanks to the sony lawyers ?)
iii) Installing HD loader is just a matter of popping the cd into your PS2 and following the instructions ...

then to just put a game from cd/dvd to the HD you just put it in the ps2 and use HDLoader to copy it the PS2HD.

with a patched version of PES can you copy the patched file from your PC to the PS2 HD using XPORT ?

Zim Zimmer -> the flip top and slide card use the same "idea". With the slide card you have to remove the facia on the cd tray and use a card to push a pin across inside the ps2 to open the tray without the machine knowing you've done it.

The flip top is just something you install on the top of the ps2 so that you can remove and replace cds in the drive without opening the tray.

There's plenty of FAQs in the forum that explain it better than me though, just have a dig about.

Just thought I'd put my tuppence in the in the pot!

I have a PS2 chipped with the DMS3 modchip which is in my opinion the best modchip on the market. I also have a 120gb Maxtor hard drive and the Sony Network Adaptor.

I have a version of HDLoader that you can put onto your memory card so that I only need to hold down :triangle: whilst booting and I get the HDLoader menu screen come up straight away with a list of all my games on it (12).

Because of the chip, all games (back-ups, imports + most importantly patched WE/PES) work like a charm. :D
