Totally agree about Xavi. I have he and Gerrard on my team and Gerrard is an absolute monster back there, winning aerials and muscling around, and then clearing easily and accurately. Xavi's passing is great but he is too small to make a presence; he's easy for people to muscle off the ball and I can't win aerial battles at all with him.

yep, your team?? do you have a custom team?

cause if you do, i would strongly recommend vieira as a DMF with gerrard as a CMF or AMF, i have them both in my custom team and they really do the difference when they play together.

Well myself and 4 friends have created custom teams from drafting players... so they don't age or grow or anything.

Vieira + Gerrard is a good tip... right now I play Gerrard - Seedorf - Kaka as my midfield but I might try maybe getting rid of Seedorf and getting Vieira in the back... if I can convince someone to trade :D

it's great to hear that other people feels like us!!
we do the same since PES3, 10 teams, we have our own system, like the MS but wothout growing, i won a 5 out of 7 champs, so i always have the points to buy players from my freinds :)

seedorf is great i wouldn't give him up, my midfielders is vieira, gerrard ronaldinho, seedorf, and as substitude i have nedved, scholes and davids, my freind refuses to sell me kaka! he have a nice budget too :(

anyways isn't it great to have your own team!! mine is called S.G.U...

Nice! Yeah we use them for tourneys and the like, and it's a lot of fun. Progression in ML's is a little too crazy imo and I prefer a more realistic team.

What's SGU stand for?

My team is Guardians FC, and I am quite happy with them in this version. They are much better than they were in the last one, because it seems now physical players make more of a difference, and Gerrard is now a beast in backfield (he was my #1 draft pick :D). I also have Stam and Puyol as my CB's, and between Gerrard and Stam my team is now extremely dominant in the air for crosses and goal kicks etc. Very happy about that.

I like Kaka but he never seems to do it for me. TBH Seedorf always seems more significant :\

I am also sad that I can't use Xavi as a DMF or CMF so much, or find a good role for him there, because I like him as a player. My favorite role for him so far is swapping him for Kaka's position, as an AMF playing off of Eto'o and Adriano. He is not really either physical or quick enough to consistently win balls on defense, but he is perfect for a quick surprise slide tackle or whatever to convert into a counter attack with his excellent passing.


Another great player I'm very pleased with is Cocu. His stats are fairly average compared to the rest of the top drawer players, but he has the best teamwork in the game, and no real weaknesses. So you can play him almost anywhere. I play him as my LB usually, but regularly swap for CB or DMF or even CMF depending on the arrow situation. He rarely comes out with the big important plays but he seems to always get 6.5's and above, just playing consistently well.

CB: starting: Puyol :), nesta, J. zanetti "which i believe the the best SB in the game", and jankolovski "a great player cause he realy can attack even as an SB" and the subs are: maldini, ayala, cordoba and carlos "who realy lost his carlosizm!" i wanted to buy canavaro but couldn't get the deal.

dmf: vieira, davids "he surprised me!" recently sold rui costa., if the two players have a bad arrow or injured gerrad gets there.

amf 1: ronaldinho "the MAN" and nedved is his replacement
amf 2: Seedorf and scholes is his replacement
of course gerrard is the joker, he plays where ever someone in the mid is not playing. and as subs: riquelme, simao "bad in stats, but he is just great"

center CF: henry, his sub is the SAVIOLA, trust me he is excellent!!
left CF: eto'o"i payed 17000 points for this guy!!" still don't know him much, his sub is drogba whom i bough also recently "12000 points"
right CF: ronaldo "he have a bad stamina, he is a "C" player and he's not stable, but i love this guy!!" his sub is trezeguet, whom i got a good offer to sell him but i refused "14000 points"

other reserve players: inzagi, del piero, martins "the bullet!"

anyway man, i'm in dubai to visit these days, so i may not always connect this days, but i would like to hear from you, and your strategy and your opinion and suggestions. :)

Your team has a lot of great players, some of the other 9 people must be hurting. In our little circle we have not made any point system or anything (yet) but we do trades occasionally.

We play with only 19 players on a team so our options are a little more limited.

The same guy in our league who has Henry (another #1 draft pick... #1 overall I believe) also picked up Saviola and Savi is indeed very good. I find actually that Konami did a pretty good job with stats, and players play a lot like they do in real life. Ronaldo for instance doesnt always look so dangerous, makes mistakes, etc, but always seems to pop up for a goal (he is maddening that way :)).

My full first eleven is as follows, I play a 4-3-3:

Keeper, Van Der Sar

LB Cocu with Bouma as sub
CB Stam with Heitinga or Cocu as sub (yes I am a dutch fan)
CB Puyol
RB Zambrotta (very consistent and overally good player)

DMF Gerrard, sometimes Cocu but Gerrard is rarely unfit
CMF Seedorf, with sub possibilities of Van Bommel, Xavi
AMF Kaka, with sub possibilities of Seedorf, Xavi

Up front I play Robben on the left, Adriano in the middle and Eto'o on the right, with Robben as a winger and Eto'o as a SS. I also have Robinho and Recoba to sub here. As you can tell I am lacking in CF subs :( Not sure who to go after, all the good ones have been taken and to trade for one I'd have to offer something in return.

Robben was originally an iffy pick... I picked him quite early because I like him, luckily now he's turned out nicely because he has improved his passing and especially crossing, so he makes a great winger. Also I am very used to the way he dribbles by now and that makes a big big difference in the timing of moves :)

As for Davids, he has been a favorite of mine since PES4. I use him now on Ajax, and I find he works best as an AMF played deep, like on or even behind the center line, with a high defense arrow. He has good stamina and playing him as AMF makes him a box to box player who hustles and runs on to shots etc, instead of wandering around like a CMF does.

Too bad about Stam, he is my favorite defender and is very very good in this game. He pushes people around and is great at pissing off my friends :D And if you get him selected for corners and crosses, you are pretty much 80% to win it with a nice clear.

try mauro da silva for dmf. he is a classic player i think, brazilian from early 90's. he is dead classy and really strong. great player.

i know o'shea doesn't have stats like viera or gerrard. But he does the job for me perfectly. Or marquez too. But Gerrard as a DMF. I would never do that. It's a insult for him.

Moutinho from Sporting Lisbon is a great all round midfield player and his stats are great (especially passing). Traded him with Dacourt and a lot of cash but well worth it.

i recommend pedretti.not world class but he is solid and pops up with the odd belter goal.i like him coz he stands out with his white boots short socks plus he has a real face.if you can get it so he hovers around the edge of the area on attacks youl score some beuties.

Pirlo is class you cant go wrong with him, i always find him in the right spot to make a play defensively.

i think if you want young and not known Aissiati or something like that hes not quite fast buit on volleys and controll i personally think hes brillliant
only new people i have that i bought are Lennon (tottenham), Lennon(celtic), ribery, Mutu (fantastic on 1-1), Kompany, schwarzer, Ricksen and Aissiati
