Is it just me or is this the worst PES EVER? I dont want rants from PES nuts telling me I'm this or that. PES used to be the most played game I had but the last few years have been really bad. I actually took back my PES 2009 and bought FIFA last year because I was so pi**ed off with it and thought this year would be different. How wrong I was. I am nearly thru the 1st season of master league with Real Madrid and am ssoooo frustrated with the game. My biggest disappointment is you can no longer go on mazey runs with the likes of Ronaldo (or messi or any other players, who in real life can actually run faster than someone a lot slower than them). In Past PES's you could turn on a sixpence with certain players but in 2010 when you try and turn, it takes that long a defender is on you. Or should I say 4 defenders and 2 midfielders!! Also, why are the players constantly running right next to each other? On lots of occasions I have had the ball at my feet with most of the opposition running at me and when I try and pass the ball it bounces off the player how has been running beside me!!! I really liked PES but am on the brink of returning it for FIFA again. Can someone tell me if it's just my settings or something so I dont have to take it back.:no::no::no::no:

I think 99% of people who play football games will be happy that you can't just skin people without any real effort. It's a compliament to how PES has been developing if you ask me. I remember up until around PES6 (?) I found it far too easy to just run with the ball. Since then I feel it's been progressing as a game in the sense that you have to really think about your movement as opposed to just holding R1/RB.

But to answer the initial question. The problems your having are how you are playing/reading the game. Try going online and battling against someone who has super fast fingers, they certainly don't have the problems your having. If you know what i mean. You simply have to keep learning the game.
I have been playing online and the problem for me is still there. As soon as the opposition touches you, you lose the ball, as soon as you have the ball (in master league) the opposition are all over you, even if you are well ahead of them when you get the ball. And I disagree that players like Messi dont go on runs and beat people of a lot less standard. The PES games have, in my eyes got worse not better. Granted this years version, other than the gameplay, is different in that you have more control of the team in master league but I find myself more and more just letting the AI play my games as I am fed up losing the ball when I try and turn or cut inside or when it takes forever to pass the ball or when my pass bounces off one of my players that keep running beside me.
I take on board that PES players dont want the game to be easy, but there is a difference between easy and so frustrating you dont want to even play the game!!

So when you play online do you tackle easier? Don't mean to sound like a dick, but either your not the best at dribbling or your opponent is particularly good at tackling?

When I'm online it's easier. I'm not saying that I'm good or bad at tackling, My point is that when I've got the ball, there are so many players around me that I cant do anything with it. Take Ronaldo for instance, I have just came off a game there where, when he gets the ball a good bit in front of the opposition (from Malaga) they surround him so quickly that I have no time to pass the ball and when I try to dribble, a player touches me and I stop dead!! Like I said, thats not right, regardless how good you are.
On a separate note, can you change the trainer/coach etc and if so how? Any help appreciated. (The instruction book for the game is covered in baby food, so cant read it lol)

THE LAST two pes games were plagued with this run past everyone crap ! .
im very suprised that one person loved it ..... which makes me think you cant play a footie game for shit.
keep pes10 and prove me wrong. lol
pes is now more of a team game , runin past everyone spoiled it .

Why does it need to be realistic?
The matches are 10 minutes long - you need to be able to pack as much action in as possible in this time. You're the one making the decisions and controlling the players they're supposed to be able to do what you're asking and they don't.
Thje mechanics of the game are completely flawed.
1. Passes don't go anywhere near your players.
2. when you press pass or shoot the player just refuses.
3. can't do first touch pass or shoot always takes a first touch.
4. first touch is abysmal - it either goes out or straight to the opposition, or in the case of attacking wide of goal before you even get a chance to shoot.
5. you try to run but the opposition magically gets the ball every time. I don't care if in real life people don't just do what they want to do, it isn't real life, I'm controlling the playing
If you want to make the game harder and encourage people to run less that's fine but don't just destroy the playability of the game.
Literally - all you people who think this is the best thing since your sister's snatch need to play pes6 and realise that all they needed to do was improve the graphics, animations, game features and physics of that game and all would be good.

I agree 100%. Can I ask, Does practicing and playing the game more stop your players from coming to a complete halt if an opposing player touches you but when you touch one of their players, they just shrug and keep control of the ball or the ref blows up!! The players are much much much slower to react to anything than in previous PES games, a flaw I found with FIFA last year (one of the few flaws in gameplay) and Konami seem to have just copied EA Sports on the gameplay for this 1!

THIS WAS FROM HARDCORE FIFA FANS who switched over to PES

No It's not getting any better the more I play it.
It's better against real people than on master league because you don't get that one sided invincible cheating that the computer does to make itself win. Like all their passes being perfect and having loads of space around each player so even if they do those gay first touches they still are in no danger of losing it.

From what i hear about your problems and you saying pes got worse this year, it shows that you really dont know how football is played and you're the one of the people online that on pes 09 wud get the ball with messi or ronaldo and just dribble it to the end of the pitch then cut it back to score a tap in, and don't say that's not what you do because it obviously is if you're complaining about not being able to run straight round a defender without being tackled. And obviously when you get the ball, the other team obviously will surround you and pressure you, to get the ball back, therefore not giving you lots of time to pass, thats what happens in football believe it or not.. Also messi with a ball at his feet will not be faster than a side back(who are also fast) without a ball at his feet, think about it.
However, i agree on the fact that there are many flaws in pes 2010 and that's why im moving to fifa after all these years. Although fifa has flaws too, it's just been an overall better game after pes 6.
I would have been happy to play pes6 with better graphics tbh.

If the simple passes are not getting to the players- why blame the game. All too often, real life teams sometimes give the ball away too cheaply. It happens. Especially my Celtic???
You still can get round the defender with messi, but not as fast as he used to be in PES2009. Go online and you'll see. It's all about the timing.

yer i know that wasnt my point i was responding to other guys comment saying he couldnt get round defender with messi and expecting it to be easy.
For the record, I'm not one of those people actually. For 1, I very rarely play online because of the rediculas lagging problems PS3 has so please dont make assumptions about me. I like to try and play football when I'm playing PES but it is difficult when all the opposition has to do is touch you and you stop in your tracks!! I like to pass the ball not run with it all the time but, as in REAL football, you get the oppertunity to make runs with the ball. Only, in PES you get swamped by players (in master league) who are infinitely slower than you, and I'm not just talking about SB's, Im talking about 7 outfield players all surrounding you. I dont mind being told I cant play the game properly, but tell me I'm doing something I'm not.
I dont think anyone wants it to be easy, but when you get swamped by 7 outfield players when you have the ball it's just crap. I'm not talkin about online, I'm talkin about master league.

So correct me if im wrong, do people still do that unrealistic run with messi where he dribbles 3 defenders, cuts back to the center for a easy shot from henry\etoo? If not, then its a big step forward in the realism part since a real player wouldnt dribble through easily, more when the defender marking you is John Terry supported by Ferdinand. PES 09 was so unrealistic where C.ronaldo could just fly past puyol like he wasnt there, come on, in real football puyol would of just pushed him away with his body even though ronaldo is faster.
