Why won't at least one of my Centre Back's go up for corners?....

When I get a corner, its only my 2 strikers and left winger in the box?. Neither of my Centre Backs will go up for a corner and its really starting to annoy me as both of them are a threat in the air.

I tried a basic 4-4-2 to see if that worked but it still doesnt?.....
Does this happen with anyone else?

:(

Why don't you assign the tactic "CB Overload" via the manual strategy options ...? I think this should allow you to assign a CB to join in for corners etc. I normally play with Arsenal and always assign Sol Campbell to come up for corners.

no point is there bringing ur best defender up becuz most the time if u lost the ball u will get hit on a counter attack

"so watch out ryan giggs is about "

CB overlap is a good thing to try. It also makes a difference what your CB's offense stat is, and I would guess also whether he's assigned to full defense or if he has any forward attacking arrows and such. Perhaps the best way, if you want *really* offensive corners, is to have an alternate formation ready to switch to where the CB you want is on low defense with a forward arrow, and on CB overlap.

In PES4 though I wasnt able to get anybody to move very much when I'd switch formations while in the middle of a corner :\

I've tried that overlap thing and still no joy :(

Its starting to really annoy me now. Like I said, when I get a corner there is only my 2 strikers and left winger in the box!!!! :realmad:

Can never get on the end of a cross because im so outnumbered.

Aye is that right?....Very good.

Why did you have to lower the tone with coming out with sectarian nonsense like that?.

A typical Celtic fan. Singing about being top of the league before they even are. Still need to beat Dundee United tomorrow.

Remember the last time Celtic fans were bragging about winning something they had not clinched?...

Perhaps this pic will remind you....

And the rest they say is history.......;)

Learn your lesson son.

Let's stick to pes talk in here please. None of that other stuff is necessary. Cheers.

With regards to corners, I find a random bunch of players in there. Setting the Team Attack Attitude to red can add a couple more in there but no way to control who is there. You could change kicker and check if anyone else is in the box. Or change kicker again if you're not happy.

I will check that out. Suppose I could just swap my CB'S into an attaking position but then change it back after the corner has been taken. Its a bit annoying that. PES4 never had the problem.

Cheers ;)

I've tried the CB overlap and I still didn't get a CB into the box for corners !! seems weird that Konami would not have CB's automatically in the box for added realism ...

Not too sure about defenders(will check this out when I next play), but was playing an International Cup with Belgium on 6* and Buffel nabbed the winner with a header from a corner for me. He was playing as the AM, so I clearly have more than just the 2 forwards and a winger in box and the only thing I have assigned to Buffel is a forward arrow. Will look into defenders at corners and see what I am getting.

I've not looked into the defenders at corners thing. Which is a shame.. cos i have some giant of a German centreback called Libermann.. i could do with his aerial presence. I found that in PES4 if you switch your winger (the one in the box) with your tallest CB.. this usually works. Equally effective is having a SMF that is a good two way player. That way if your corner does get cleared your SMF should hold off any sweeping counter attacks and be quick enough not to get caught out. By SMF i dont mean players like Denilson or Joaquin.. Players that at RB or LB but can play SMF and have a defensive level of over 55 can be good. Brett Emerton is a classic example on PES4 his attack 80 his defence 62.

1st u need a CB with decent height, attack, aggression, and aerial ability. SBs rarely get in the box on set pieces. Now go into formation settings->individual->attack and set his attack to -->
Do this for your midfielders and you'll have more options on set pieces.
Now when u take the corner don't take it too fast. Set the attack bar to orange or red. It takes about 10 seconds each time but your players will move forward as u raise the bar. Check your radar and u'll see the dots from the back move in hehe. Then hold :R1: for a slightly harder cross, swing one in and eventually your corner fiasco will be solved.
My Thuram is always up there for set pieces, and Rio Ferdinand is 1/2 of the times even tho I didn't set his attack to -->

Also, when u set CB overlap the defender will only slowly start joining the attack after the ball has been played in. Don't use it too much cuz it REALLY drains stamina.

TBH it's idiots like you that give the majority of decent Old Firm fans (myself OBVIOUSLY included ;) ) a bad name.

As for the corner thing, if you see, for instance, your tiny left winger in the box, try going to 'change player' and swap him for one of your centre-backs for a short period. Just make sure you don't forget and find your 6"6 centre-back stuck out on the touchline during your next attack.
