I think this is correct:

The US version is basically PES3.
The Jap version is a superior game with new features and much improved gameplay.

Easy now, it's not that bad. I've been playing it like a maniac, and haven't seen one handball.

It's a damn fine game.

The Jap version is far more superior. I havent touched the official PES3 since Late last year. The Jap game is out of this world!

PES3 is PAL not NTSC, they converted it to NTSC, and it´s called WE7:I US and it sucks completely compared to WE7:I Jap.
I´m sure there will be patches for the US version though

larsson, i believe he is referring to the fact that japan uses NTSC, europe alone uses PAL.

therefore konomi doesn't use PES to make US verions. The US versions of their games are closer to the japanese than the european ones.

i was in japan last august and played WE7 right when it came out. i now play WE7:I US version, and they are virtually the same, except that the us version has some newer animations, less handballs, a few transfer changes, etc...

obviously, WE7: I (jap) updated as well, but seeing as though the US version had the same release date, i dont' see why there would be much different.

by the way, since the japanese version now supports all those languages, i'm curious .... are the teams and players still in japanese characters? or when you select the language, does it convert the teams and players to roman alphabet???

thanks

WE7:I US is a port of PES not WE, US versions always were ports of the European and NOT Japanese versions. Eg WE6:I US was similar to PES2, and NOT WE6. That´s why you cannot convert your old WE but only your old PES option file into the US International version. WE7:I US has almost the same gameplay like PES3, which is quite different from WE7. Since everybody who owns all 3 games (PES3, WE7 and WE7:I US) alleges that WE7:I US is a port of PES3 and not WE7 I think I´m right ;) If I´m not then sorry :D
So the US International version sucks compared to the Japanese. The Japanese has 6 languages for both, menus and commentary, player names are in Japanese, no matter which language you choose.
Hope this clears things up a little bit, anyway, both games were released almost at the same time and are two complete different games, great Nokami
Like I said before I´m sure someone will make patches for the US version as well

alright, one more question, i've never been much for the patching mostly because i'm just too busy to mess with keeping up with it all.

but when you guys patch the japenese versions, do your patches put the player and team names into english, or is that outside the scope of patching?

i ask because i desire the game with the superior gameplay, however, it just drives me nuts to not have the player/team names in a language i recognize.

may seem a dull question, but like i said, i don't usually mess with it.

oh, and larsson, on your last post... when you are talking about WE7, i assume you mean WE7:I (jap) ? just trying to keep it all straight.

no, when I wrote (WE7) I meant WE7 and when I wrote (WE7:I) I meant WE7:I
WE7 came first, then PES3, then WE7:I Korean which is a port of PES with a few improvements, then WE7:I Chinese which is the same like WE7:I Jap, but has only Chinese language in, then WE7:I Jap which is like a WE7 Final Evolution and then WE7:I US which is again, like the Korean version, just a port of PES3 with a few improvements
Seems confusing, but the abbreviations in my post above are all correct ;)

And yes, of course you get all player and team names in English, actually that´s the easiest part of the patching work ;)

alright, well i believe i understand....

i was assuming you meant that WE7:I JAP (NOT WE7 JAP) had superior gameplay to PES3/WE7:I US .... so i'm hoping that's what you meant

because like i said, i played WE7 JAP and I now have WE7:I US .... and out of those 2, i like WE7:I US better. But I have not played WE7:I JAP

if the gameplay of WE7:I JAP is much better than WE7 JAP ... and i could get a patch that put the names in english.... i would definately import it.

By using a simple option in the Option File menus, you can convert almost all of the Jap player names in WE7:IJ to English using your WE7 file. I'm playing WE7:IJ using all English names thanks to the X-Port option file released at evo-web. The flags and kits aren't great but all the players are in English and that is good enough for me until a patch comes out. I've been editing a few of the team kits for those teams that I use more often so it's up to you.
Anyone know if anyone is making an option file for WE7:IJ like the one they made for WE7 at evo-web (a la Kez) ?

akk423, you do confuse yourself a lot. WE7 is just plain WE7, only released in Jap so no need to call it WE7 (Jap), is there?
larsson has explained himself as clearly as can be, despite the nature of the names of the different games so if you read it slowly, it should all make sense.

However, you said that you have not played WE7:IJ - DO Give it a try and you will see it is the best one yet. I know I haven't played the US version but according to what lots of other people have said, WE7:IJ is the bestest version out of them all, with new features (edit goalie kit, R1 to drop the ball when you keeper is holding it) and Much better gameplay. So try it and end the confusion :)

Yes :)
Well, you might have thought that WE7:I US is a port of WE7, but when you play PES3, I dunno if you played that, you´ll notice that WE7:I US is more similar to PES3 than to WE7 :)
Like Zyg already said, WE7:I Jap is definately worth a try
