Winning eleven 10 vs Pro 6 (short review)

ive played both. my friend has his ps2 chipped and im round there often playing winning eleven. it is excellent and always much better that the converted european version(pro evo)

so how did pro 6 fair off against the jap version?

i must say that pro 6 has improved alot over last years dreadful effort. the gameplay is a bit slower and realistic but the shooting isnt has good or realistic as winning eleven 10 unfortunetly, the shots go way too fast, lightning fast sometimes, and that takes away some of the realism. the through balls are very good unlike the japanese counterpart which are awful(they play like x passes sometimes). Pro 6 refs are not as whistle happy which is good imo.. but i think that winning eleven 10 has the better gameplay overall.

why do they keep changing the style when the game is released in europe? it baffles me. i need to get my ps2 chipped i think.

better effort from pro 6 but winning eleven edges it.

Dunno. Never played WE10 so I don't know. PES6 is pretty good in terms of gameplay, the shooting is slightly unrealistic and the refs let the play flow.

Nice review. ;)

Totally agree with you mate. WE10 is much better as a game and more enjoyable. I've been playing WE most of my life and I dun really play PES if not for the online and major competition. But the online is crap anyway cos the server is not build for us too ha... I'm from south east asia and there is no market to support any games, not like europe and US where there is a huge fan base for the gaming industry and for aisan country like us the only world ticket we have is ESWC and they play PES so no choice I have to play PES!!

Lets hope when PS3 comes out it would change this issue as SOny claim there will not be any more region code issue and we can all juz play one title with online.

yeh. i bought pro 5 for pc to play online only. i thought id give pro 6 a chance, so i bought it for ps2. its not bad, but shooting is terrible, the ball floats in the air like a balloon sometimes, and othertimes its ways to fast.

i think i'l leave getting my ps2 chipped. i'll see what happens with the ps3.

I was looking on the net about the difference between PES and WE.

I can't say that I am surprised that the WE version is better than PES. A friend was saying that the WE version has the faces of the players when showing the formations just before the kick-off (et al Andy Gray does on Sky Sports).

The same friend also told me that, as it covers the J-League, WE doesn't include as many European club sides as PES.

I have been considering chipping my PS2 for sime time but I'm just too damn lazy.

Well your 'friend' is a jackass. lol

You only have pictures of players faces in 'Nippon Challenge' mode - so that only applies to the Japanese players. Also it's 'J-League: Winning Eleven' that covers J-League teams, not the original WE releases. Normal WE has the same clubs as PES.

Anyway, i think this years PES beats WE for the first time ever. I found WE10 far too easy and arcadish. PES6 has toned that down some.

the shooting on pes 6 is poor compared to winning eleven. and shooting is an important aspect

Jackass? I am totally digging the profanity on an internet forum.

So my friend wasn't completely wrong about the players faces? Anyway, he was speaking from what he had seen on the net, unfortunatley we don't know anyone who has WE10.

I was looking for in depth info about WE10 myself but I couldn't really find anything, well not in English anyway. I Would be grateful if any one would be helpful enough to dig something out for me in regards to WE10. I've looked on play asia, yes asia, konami, etc..

Danke schon,

Bruno

ps. Anyone know the difference between Winning Eleven ubiquitous and plain old Winning Eleven?

I've got WE10 but haven't got PES6.

I will be getting it pretty soon though so when I do get it, I'll post back here and let everyone know what the major differences are (if any).

Ubiquitous = PSP WE :)

WE is basically PES with slight and i emphasize, 'slight' gameplay tweaks. Usually just the speed and passing. Although this years PES is quite a bit different to this years WE, as WE was released month's earlier in time for the World Cup, which left alot of tweakage time for PES. It'll be difficult to find info on it from anywhere other than right here, or on Evo-Web. Cosmetically the games are very similar, just Nakamura replacing Adriano/Terry on menus ect, with PES having the more updated Kits, Stats, and appearences.

In saudi arabia we play WE10 .. what people do over here is quite nice really, as soon as the new WE comes out it gets edited and it's sold edited .. i mean we get WE with all the right player names (in english or Arabic even), logo's, boots and team kits u name it .. and it's updated every two weeks, everytime i go to the store there is a new WE10 but with different editing .. some games even have the saudi league instead of master league.

Comming to the important part, how WE10 plays, I cant compare it with pes6 cuz i've never played pes in my life (i saw my brother playing pes 5 one time and i thought it was crap compared with the WE game that was out at that time WE9 i guess). Anyway, WE10 is quite perfect in my openion 'game play wise'. If you are a tactic freak just like me you'll like it. The defenders A.I is good, you no longer see defenders and defensive midfielders running around like headless chicken at the end of the match like WE9. You can hold on to a 1 goal lead if you play with the right tactics, especially against another human player. Speed wise it's satisfying, not very slow and not very fast either. GK's are shit though, one time i hit the post and the ball got deflected by the GK into his own net he didnt know anything about it. Just an example of how bad they r.

Bruno there arnt any player faces shown before kick off ..

Dean, You seem to be pretty knowledgeable when it comes to Winning Eleven.

I have already asked this question, but I didn't get a comprehensive answer. What is the difference between Ubiquitous Winning Eleven and standard Winning Eleven?

I have played Winning Eleven International Soccer 9 on the PSP, which was purchased in the Far East. As it said International and you could only select either English or Spanish as the language, I didn't acknowledge it as the original Winning Eleven. I presumed it was Pro Evolution but they had to rename it to Winning Eleven International as it was being sold in the Far East.

Any news about Winning Eleven on the PS3?

Ibz: According to issj_broly, the faces do appear on the formation line ups in Japan challenge mode.

Issj_broly: I've been searching in vein for info about Winning Eleven, I even resorted to using wikipedia. I had a look at the sites you recommended and found a couple more; Winning Eleven Nation and WEvolution. Winning Eleven Nation needs updating and WEvolution seems ok but is not detailed.

Thanks for all the info guys ;)

Well, I got my copy of PES6 today and my first impressions are that it's definitely slower than WE10.

Dribbling has become more intricate; the players now do this new turning animation while in control of the ball. It's become harder to outpace someone again. Not impossible but harder than it was in WE10.

Passing and shooting I feel is about the same, but then again, I've only played a couple of matches so I'm probably yet to discover more changes.

And is it just me or have they taken out the strip combination feature? And what the hell happened to the German league? :eek:hmy:

the shooting is different. there are more skyed shots on pro 6. winning eleven shooting is a lot better, you can hit better volleys and its more realistic. dribbling is pretty much the same but on pro 6 the reactions of the players is a bit slower when u got the ball. its nothing major really.
they got rid of the german league for some reason, no werder breman:(

i have had we10 for quite a while now. one thing that my friends tell me is this, my first copy of we10 was patched when it 1st came out, then for some reason the disk stopped working so i had to repatch a new one with a new patch. it was still we10 but 2 different patches. my friends complained that there was difference in the game play. it didnt make sense to me cuz its the same game. then when pes6 came out i got my hands on one. in comaprison here is what i thought:
passing:
pes6 has accurate passing than we10. but its slower style passing.
graphics:
we10 patched has better faces.
speed:
gameplay speed is abit faster in we10 which i like more.
shooting:
now here is the main and major change, we10 has better shooting. what i have noticed is that it takes me twice as many shoots to score the same amount in pes6. so to score 2 goals i would need 6 shots in we10 when i will need 10 to 12 in pes6.
i dont know if goal keepers are better, but sometimes im infront of the damn goal in pes6, a single light touch shoot doesnt make it in.
also the percentage of shooting to the roof is way higher in pes6. a wrong position or timing when u shoot will send the ball up up high.

what i think will make it perfect is, pes6 style passing with we10 shooting, now thats a killer combination.

later
