What is the problem all of a sudden. WE8 hasn't been getting any love lately. the threads are all over the place saying it's been a failure. slowdown this runnning that. jeez calm down. First off there are ALOT of tings to consider if there is slowdown. First and foremost. WE was always made on the NTSC system. that mean British tvs will not play it correctly just like japanese and american tv sets won't play british pal standard either. secondly, the PS2 has under gone a chnage recently.it's gotten a revamped laser revamped it's drivers along with prog scan support and quiteer noise ratio. older machine might be problematic with the new WE8 and again display calibrations could be off as well. 3rd, ALOT of the impressions have been coming from other countries that would mean they'd have to have had overnight shipping ASAP, which I hardly doubt. leading to the concern that they have in fact burned a ripped version. albeit a ripped version downloaded from the country that got it the earliest...Hong Kong (would YOU trust that?).

No rip, there is an illegal DVD version available which is 100% the same like the original one. Plus the slowdown also appears with the original disc. And I have a NTSC TV, still I have slowdowns. It doesn´t really hurt me, WE8 is fuckin brilliant. Just wanted clear some things up.

Yeah it is amazing. IF your good enough, you'll play the perfect pass and beat the offside trap and experience no slowdown at all - I can't judge it after 2 games.

slowdowns depend on the stadiums, day/night, rainy/dry, crowd, camera angle etc.

What a load of ballacks, thats all i can say, the ps2 outputs what it gets given ntsc or pal unlike the xbox. So if your tv can display it then its pure ntsc its showing. As for the slowdown, f all to do with a dodgy copy media etc, so why u on about the laser?

I have a major flashback mates. I heared the same shit before on PES3/WE7 about it was not that good and shit.. A couple of weeks later its all that all of the sudden. Dont we all tell the Fifa fanboys that the reason they dont like PES is because the never took the time to learn the game???? That in the beginning it is a very difficult game to master and you will not be able to see the depth within if you dont learn to master it? Yes folks we tell that to everyone that likes to hear (or doesnt we dont really care) it. Play it, learn it, love it, feel it and master it....

I have to admit, i didnt like WE7 after playing WE6:FE. I am not sure about WE8 at the moment either. I'll learn to love it.

The slowdown is also evident on the harddrive which has faster loading times than the disk so it will be a simply be that the ps2's cpu has got to much to handle at that particular time.

when your in the middle of the park - there's going to be less players naturally so its just a CPU thing which we cant fix,,,,,,,,,,,,,, unless perhaps if the crowds are down, no flares in the crowd etc, turn off commentary etc,,,,

I haven't played the game yet so have no opinion on the gameplay or any features with the game. What I will say however is that Konami hasn't failed to deliver a top quality WE/PES game with constant improvement of gameplay and presentation of the game and I doubt they'll start now, WE8/PES4 will be the greatest footballing game on the planet, so a bit of trust in the company that introduced you to the magical simulation of the game

Mate no offense, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Especially with the first reason.

Do NTSC DVD movies play different on your TV??? I don't think so...

Laser revamp is only about RW+- disks, nothing spectacular that would affect playing games. (By the way, they are ment for music CDs and DVD movies anyway).

Progressive scan is just refresh rate so that doesn't affect games being slower, since it has to do with picture quality. (reduces flicker)

And last but not least, I have the original disk, from Japan, and the game slows down.

Just face it, it is too much for poor PS2 to handle everything with it's (not even) 32mb of RAM.

But it isn't THAT bad as people are saying, it's still great game...

i think theyve tried to hard to improve the textures on the players and it hasnt worked, they look nicer but perhaps they could have coded it to reduce the detail levels when displaying more players.

At least when my xbox gets its teeth into pro evo 4, i can be sure it will be able to cope (unless they do a sloppy conversion like the pc)

Yeah fingers crossed the xbox version lives up to expectation. Either way I'll be getting both versions. It will prove to be the greatest football game to date (asif it's not already )
