Well, after watching Arsenal vs Chelsea, and Real vs Monaco I just have to say something about WE / PES series.

Me being from the states, and not watching alot of football matches (because Americans don`t air them alot like in Europe, etc) so after watching a good football match it just shows me how good and bad WE / PES are.

The only thing that is perfect to me is the gameplay. Just like what you see in real TV football match, you can do that in WE / PES aswell. You can do whatever you want with the ball, without any limitations..

However there is still ALOT of things that KONAMI needs to improve on..

Just imagine FIFA with WE / PES gameplay, then KONAMI would be out of the business in no time.

Why am I saying this ??!? :confused: mostly because of the licenses, good cut scenes, better stadiums (the goals are shitty kinda small but that could be fixed in future FIFA games, FIFA has the best commentary, the menu music is just awesome, career mode aint so bad, and the graphics are superb..people say FIFA SUCK mainly because of the gameplay, but I guarantee you this, if FIFA ever brings the same if not better gameplay than WE series then nobody will buy FIFA anymore. I really love the crowd chans.. and I was watching the making of FIFA 2004, EA recorded real crowd chants and then put them in the game.. that is really cool. Even though FIFA is bad compared to WE I still think FIFA is very missjudged and very underrated. One more thing that EA needs to do is have the edit more present in the next FIFA game..

Yes alot of people patch their WE / PES games, and what they are trying to do is bring it more to life, but yet again it could never look "original" just like in FIFA.

Now, don`t get me wrong, I don`t like FIFA, I play WE7I-J all the time, I`m just saying this because I wanna know if you agree with me or not..

Just wanted to check you meant that. Looks wrong.

I agree with some aspects. But it seems to me that it'll take longer for fifa to match the gameplay because they can't be assed to do the work at the moment (who knows about the future) and because they know they are the number one selling footie game already so why spend the time, effort and money on all that work?

Konami just need to dig into their pockets a bit and buy licences to improve the atmostphere a bit. Kits, names, stadia, ad boards etc. I think this is more easily achievable if they wish to do it.

We'll just have to wait and see which one is number one in a couple of years.

He is constantly playing FIFA all time cause he can win easily, he said all his ''mates'' also have FIFA. I said do you know about PES?? He said no, we started a match after 3 min he had enough. ''This is so difficult, this is stupid''
You see? I bet this is the biggest market (young boys) who get FIFA from their parents, so if EA changes their gameplay I bet a lot of kids wont play FIFA anymore so no money for EA. Maybe you totally disagree with me, but I think this is reality.

The people who work on the FIFA games arent they canadians? Arent most of EA staff canadian?

And like has been said, PES only needs the licenses, cool menus and music to match that isent difficult to get for the proper amout of $$$ but getting great gameplay that FIFA desperatly needs..well thats impossible for that studio of individuals, we have seen them try things but nothing really works

Konami will get game polished up, PES3 was a step in the right direction with the 8 licensed teams so we are getting there

Fifa2004 is still miles behind in anything remotly playable

Well, I do agree with you. WE / PES games are hard, maybe too hard, so if they are too hard what you do is get FIFA, because you`ll be able to cheat and destroy the CPU.. next time when you play with young kids let them play on star 1 or 2 vs CPU..

I'm gonna disagree with you on that. Sega makes better, ESPN NHL Hockey series is a lot better. I use to play the NHL series and get 8-0 wins it was just stupid.

There's no such thing as perfection. And PES is far from perfect gameplay. FIFA won't be tempted to change from their arcadey formula. It's what most people like: mindless and easy and it looks nice. They are driven purely by making money nothing else. Whereas I believe Konami genuinely do want to make the best Footie game possible (as well as making shit loads of money of course ;))
