Clearly you don't remember the AKI games at all and how good they were.

If you haven't spent literally hundreds of pounds on playing this back in the day, walk away from this thread now and don't ever take that tongue with me again about legendary games.

I used to walk about 6 miles a pop to play it.

Why because it took timing and skill? ;)

Hey, I never said I wasn't good at it, I just said I shouldn't have to do it

I say it was shit, but when it first came out I did enjoy it. Especially since it was my first wrestling game since the SNES Royal Rumble game.

Any pre-N64 wrestling game - with the possible exception of Saturday Night Slam Masters - was shit. The ones on the NES and SNES are putrid wank.

And did you pay 75 quid to get Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 on Japanese import? 70 quid to get No Mercy on US import the day it arrived in UK import shops? Ditto for Wrestlemania 2000 and Revenge? No, so eat savage cunny.

Has anyone played Fire Pro Wrestling? I've got Fire Pro Returns, it's not bad but not a game you can play for a long time.

Look we both know it all changed when the 1st WCW game came out for the N64 and then after No Mercy this whole Smackdown business kicked in.

My point still stands that the Nintendo version of this game plays and feels like No Mercy.

However you been incapable of mastering the Wii controls won't work in your favor so it's best you don't play any wrestling games instead, period.

It's a decent little multi player game, but just lacks a few things to make it a really good game.

The ladder match in the wii version is just unbelievable, the one player game doesn't interest me much so I can't really comment on that.

The Wii controls work great for first-party games but beyond that I'm never convinced. And only the N64 joypad can recreate that wrestling game feel.

I heard rumours ages ago that they were going to release an updated No Mercy with a modern roster on Wiiware. Almost certainly bullshit, but I would - honestly - wank myself into a coma if it was true.

The Wii has some shocking titles I'll agree but like always the better end of the games spectrum on Nintendo machines generally are excellent, the Wii and it's controls are no exception.

Two questions, do you own a Wii and have you played the likes of Zelda or No more Heroes?

I didn't play Zelda much but the controls were great. And Super Mario Galaxy was one of the best games I've ever played. As I said, first party games I know will be good. The rest - not convinced.

I started reading up on what you said about them releasing No Mercy as a WAD but most of the articles I seen were fair old, have you seen something more recent maybe?

I just hope they don't take out the likes of Steve and the Rock, I know they will be axing some of the roster that are working for the enemy these days.

No Mercy To Return On The WiiWare Service?!!! Anyone remember WWF No Mercy? If you don't it was one of the greatest wrestling games ever. It released on the Nintendo 64 after AKI/THQ ditched making WCW games and made two of the best WWF wrestling games of all time. The games that the RAW Vs. Smackdown series have always failed in measuring up to.

1Up.com reports "THQ's WWF: No Mercy for the Nintendo 64 is coming back via the WiiWare service with completely updated rosters."

This means fans will get the chance to play the single greatest wrestling game of all time on the Nintendo Wii with the current WWE roster, which is freaking spectacular. In the underground gaming world, fans have managed to do hack downloads and upgrades on the N64 game incorporating new features such as ROH, TNA, and indy superstars as well as arenas and rings to the game.

Hopefully all of the great things that we loved about these games, including the ladder match, the extremely less complicated CAW mode, as well as the nigh-perfect grappling and combat system that other wrestling games have tried and failed to replicate will remain intact. That's actually one of the best things about the game. The smooth, controls that aren't too hard to adapt too. And continuing the match beyond one finisher as well. I'm very much looking forward to the return of No Mercy to the Wii.

If THQ is going to update the roster, that means that moves and finishers will need to be updated as well. But will they? Will anything else be updated? Will the graphics or entrance themes be updated or improved as well? It'd certainly be nice if they juiced it up some of the Wii. The updated wrestlers on the roster should come with their current theme music. What about the wrestlers on the roster who are no longer with the company? Will they remain in the game as well?

This is definitely an excellent idea by THQ, and it's even better if you already own or are looking to invest into a Wii, which remains the best next-gen console on the market. And sorry folks, that's the fact. Spin the crap whatever weigh you want, the PS3 is an over-priced brick. And that doesn't make me a fag.

That sounds pretty funny actually, it'd be a laugh making someone and then have him getting hit by a car and then caned throughout the show in gang attacks.

Shame the game mechanics will still be shit mind.

That's the thing. I wish they had done a complete overhaul. They spoke so much about the create modes, that it's obvious the gameplay is the same. It gets boring after a few hours.

Yes, I'm buying it tomorrow. Guys who already have the game have said the gameplay is awesome for once. Couple that with the new story designer and downloadable CAW's and I'm there.

Is the General Manager mode back? The one mode in 08 where you become a GM and be able to pick your show, draft superstars and make sure your show is the best at the end of the year? Or was that 24/7? They took it out in 09!
