WTF? level 3

Hey fellas, I'm on level 3 and can hardly beat anyone by even the smallest of margins(admittedly I'm a convert from Fifa).

According to this game, Thierry Henry is slower than my grandmother and my girlfriend shoots more accurately than David Beckham. Light me up on this one please?

Anyway, when I play on level3, all the opponents are quicker, stronger, swifter than any of my players.....WTF is up with this? Is there something I'm not understanding??

Welcome back...
It is not like the old pro ev and you can't just run your way through. As in football the best way is to either play wide and draw the fullback on to you or if you are a patient passing side i.e arsenal then play to their abilities. Move the ball quickly play one touch football near the box.

I get a ridiculous amount of penalties with Arsenal because when in a shooting position I sub consciously hold the ball longer than I would with other sides and try and walk it in the net.

Another few things I have learned:
-the opponent is always quicker, more agile, stronger,
-your players stack off the white line
-they stack just like that, for fun
-they can't header a ball
-they can't shoot on goal, every ball is blocked
-they can't pass
-they can't run
-user players have 2 second lag(press a button, 2s later he passes or shoots)
-very biased towards CPU opponent

I can hardly see how this is realism.

well if you feel this way all i can say is go back to playing fifa and stick to that. and dont play pro again then that will sort your problem out.

i can not think of anything all i can say is maybe try a diffrent star level and see what that is like.:)

I'm not bagging the game.

Can someone explain why the opponents are quicker?

Any logical explenation for that?

What game are you playing ? International Superstar Soccer Pro 98 ?

The fatigue and fitness arrows matter too, if they're in bad condition then the players aren't fully fit.

I play PES4. Doesn't matter, I've just gone back to 2 stars...which is too easy.

Hope they improve the cpu bias in PES6 and supply a balanced gameplay.

They're porting the majority of PES5 to 6. So don't get your hopes up. Learn to deal with it, or just sell your all of your stuff and play more real life football, like I did.

As for some helpful information: 3 stars is rediculously difficult for not being the toughest skill level. Move up to 4 stars and try it. The CPU is less aggresive and more tactical oriented.

There is no CPU bias but there is a lot of subtlety to the control in the game. Practice and you will consistently improve.

If you want speed, try the R1+R2 touch to move the ball around and practice with that. Next fastest is tapping R1, after that holding R1, after that holding R2, after that holding nothing. If you're close to a player he will jostle you and grab your shirt, slowing you down.

Practice.

Edit: practice on 5 star..

"Hey, I just saw a real game of arsenal playing and Henry didn't drible past every defender though they are much slower than he is. Now what's going on here! Is this supposed to be realistic?!"

...... A few golden rules

Pass the ball around, wait for opening do not force play

Use the rader, start from defence spread the ball to the wingers, look for your strikers or wingers for that matter making runs

Speed ) Speed is fine once your past a player but don't expect to be able to run right past him. Once your infront then aslong as the player has decent speed attributes you should get round him.....

shooting, all try and come onto a players good foot, try not to shoot across yourself it tends not to work, say if your running diagonal right then aim for the top or bottom right not left side.

To clear things up a bit.

I don't expect to run past 10 guys with Henry.

I do expect however, that after I drible past a single player and leave him behind me 5-10m, that I have finished business with that player. In PES that is not the case, because the fella catches up 10m within 2s.

And yeh, I played U20 for Germany so no need for smartarse comments.

Cheers for the tip mate, 4 stars is more like it. ;)

I don't know mate, the game I play has a lot of cpu bias...which is fine.....to an extent.

Whoever says that there is no CPU bias is not retarded, just overly optimistic that the game is actually fair and realistic. I don't think this version of PES was made more difficult with better CPU AI, it was made more difficult with the CPU given advantages... and maybe a little bit of player teammate stupidity.

Wild if you're still looking for advice. I think every one of us here has been through what you are experiencing, you just need to be patient and keep playing 3 stars, 2 star is no use coz the computer doesn't know how to run with turbo on... What I did when I first started was to just keep playing the world cup with a decent team on 3 stars until you win the cup without cheating, and then go up a level and then repeat the whole preocess.. It took me about 3 months to win the cup on 5 stars. And once you win that you would be thinking why the hell you were playing fifa for so long..

As for advice to play a good game, I think Wrigh2UK is right on the money there.. Just do everything he said and you should be a competent player in no time.. The only thing I would like to add is on defence, since 2UK never mentioned it.. Don't double team unless you have the man with the ball between your two defenders and you are very sure you can quickly steal the ball off him. And when defending one on one, always keep your defender between the goal and the man with the ball, play your position until the he exposes the ball for you to pick off. I hope that helps.

Hi all ,first time post.I nearly put a controler shaped hole in my tv screen over the weekend and was looking around online for some help. Then I came across the above bit of advice and its working a treat. It makes a huge difference playing on 4 stars(prof),its a much more open game and the whole thing runs a bit smoother and feels more natural. Thanks for saving my tv man.

When I first bought PES1, I litterally ruined the control pad with my thumb (tearing off the rubber coating on the analogue stick with my nail (pushing s hard repeatedly) and thought whats all the fuss about-Its ridiculously difficult, and I believed I was apretty seasoned gamer (Still do). Just play on 2* stars and you will kill it, then move to 3* nd and chance you get shoot, dont try to create the perfect goal. The series has asteep learning curve but now into PES6 I can easily say it's the most rewarding game and series available. Keep practicing and keep at it, 3* takes some time and 2* is too easy. Use your wingers and pass alot. Good luck, persevere and don't go back to FIFA- believe me.;)
