X-Box patching?

I'm not sure what it is you are trying to do, the only way to get around it is to extract that .iso file you have into a folder on your PC so it is just a collection of files. Then add the Dario X patch and it will be a simple file overwrite.

Use C-Xbox Tool to the recreate the .iso with the new files enclosed and burn.

What a tit-bandit I have been! Of course, you're right Wolf_Hook, I was trying to replace the files in the same way as you do in PES4 on the PS2 so that the ISO doesn't get any larger etc. Inserting larger files into the PS2 ISO means regenerating the ISO and all that mumbojumbo and is quite difficult. This seems very straightforward due to the ISO Create option.

So even if I replace the files with larger files I can just recreate the ISO and burn?

Yep, with no problem whatsoever. Xbox's run off of the xbe file, as long as you have one of those and the files names are correct it will run. I have bloated my PES4 from 2.1GB to 2.5GB

So I will need to replace all the files with the ones in the DarioX folder? I read somewhere that you can choose which files to insert and which not to? Is that right? If I only want graphical and sound changes can I just insert the O_TEXT.AFS and the E_SOUND.AFS etc?

I only ask as I read somewhere that there are some database changes included in the DarioX patch that were not vert good. Do you know anything about this Wolf_Hook?

Which files are absolutely necessary to insert (once I've inserted for example the O_TEXT) to make sure the ISO works?

You can run the game with just the updated 0_text file if you want but you won't benefit from sound etc. but then you already know that.

The files in the Dario X patch are just carbon copies of the ones already in the game with all the right graphics and you pick and choose which ones you want, I myself have a combination of different types to suit me. I have a bootpack from a PC patch, sound made by some Spanish bloke and the intro video from X-Groups Xbox patch.

I did release my own updated version of an Xbox patch on the "all xbox patches is here" thread a while back but even now that is dated.

As for database changes, I very much doubt it. I don't remember receiving an option file when I downloaded the patch and the database is only as good as the person who created it in the first place. I did read on here this morning that a guy from EvoWeb has been working on the most upto date option file you can find, I mean that guy has spent the best part of a month locked in a room updating stats with nothing but bread and water to keep him going. It might be worth a look if you want the best updates and it is easy to convert an option file to any format you want by using a Java based program.

Of course installing option files on an Xbox requires either FTP or a external memory card.

When I asked my friend if he had a memory card he just stared at me like I was retarded and said "No, I don't think so".

"Can you save your games?" I asked him and he said yes. So I am assuming the X-Box has some kind of internal memory card? Is this right? So without ftp'ing or an external memory card he will not be able to update the option file in any way?

You can buy external memory cards from game shops and you will need the biggest one there is as an PES4 option file is about 1.2MB. The memory card slots into the top the controllers, you must of seen them but didn't pay to much attention.

The Xbox does have an internal memory card, it is a 10GB hard disk which is standard.

The only way he will be able to get the most upto date option file is if sits there and does the lot himself.

I have never played a game on an X-Box so I wouldn't know about the controllers. I have been very anti-X-box for ages and I have no rational explanation for it! Anyhow, thank you very much again for your help Wolf_Hook.

here's a question wolf: is there a way to save an option file from a cd or dvd to my xbox without a external memory card, just introducing the cd/dvd and save it?, cause i don't have a max drive, x-port and don't know a thing about "FTP", don't even know what it means... please answer me cause i'm desperate there isn't any way to get a max drive here in mexico, and don't know how to patch, even it sounds easy cause your explanations are clear, but don't have a clue what iso means and how to work with them.

There isn't any other ways of transfering option files other than FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Saving it to a external memory card is a bit touch and go because I am not sure if Memory cards are made big enough. An option file is about 1.2MB.

Is your Xbox even chipped?

I can point you in the right direction of where to learn information about doing it yourself but it requires a reasonable amount of technical knowledge.

ok wolf thanks, yes my xbox is chipped (evolution x) i've read another complete thread that talks about "xbox saves manager", can i use it connecting my xbox with a cross cable and transfer OF into my xbox? www.xbox-saves.com has an explanation on how to connect, my question it's if u have used it and if it works...

I use it all the time. When I chip peoples boxes they obviously want to keep their save games. I use saves manager to rip the saves off of it and then transfer them back to the new hard disk once the chip and new hard disk is in place.

you're a true master wolf, you will ever be my master and i'll be grateful to you forever... so i'll do that and keep you informed, one last question which option file do u consider to be the greatest of all and where do i find it?, well it converts in two questions but anyway they're the last

Not to sure about option files. I think if you search around in the downloads section you might find some. Xbox patching is very neglected although in my opinion it is the easier console to patch.

I don't even have any I can upload for you. You can convert option files with a piece of software, so you could download a PC option file and convert it to an Xbox one.

hey wolf, i need some help with your patch....first, i downloaded it on Bittorrent and extracted it. I have a modded Xbox with EvoX but i'm not so good in networking so i cant use FTP. I have PES4 on my Hdd, then i burned your files to a DVD and then used DVD2XBOX to replace the old files in my hdd with yours. Everything seems alright, but the problem is when i copy 0_text.asf to the PES4 folder in my xbox, the game doesnt load...i tried to copy every file except this one and it works great with a beautiful video and a very attractive menu...but when i try 0_text.asf, it doesnt load,,,,do i have to extract and copy the 4b4e0022.zip file too to the hdd??? thank you very much for your help and especially for your great work!!

Normally this has something to do with the default .xbe file and that is why I included it.

I don't actually think the way you are doin it is the best way either, it leaves to much for error, I think you are best off just burning a new DVD with evey game file on it so in effect you are burning a new copy of PES4 and replacing the game files with mine.

4b4e0022.zip is the option file and you will need a network connection to transfer it unless you have an Xport or whatever they are called.

I do actually provide tutorials to network Xboxs and other Xbox advice on the forum I hang out on now, http://wemaniacs.com/smf/index.php
