x-port v9 ps2 compatibility

I'm an idiot and bought a v9 ps2 instead of getting an older one. I have the USA version of WE7:I and have an option file. Will x-port work with my ps2? I have heard that the action replays do not work with this version (only action replay max) because sony locked out all 3rd party discs (or something like this). Is this true?

Depends which version PS2 you have.
X-Port works on PAL PS2s and you can get a Sharkport for NTSC PS2s.

The option file should work on all versions of PS2.
