XBOX is far better

x box no slowdown and live

Damn right. Me and my mates from work have a pro evo tourney ever month or so and we always used 2 PS2's cos it was pro evo 3 days. when 4 just came out we had one the other day and i brought my xbox up to ma mates so we had one PS2 with evo 4 and the xbox with evo 4.

Just so there was no complaints I have 2 ps2 to xbox pad convertors, allowing you to use the ps2 pad on the xbox(sweet). Everyone agreed the xbox version played alot better and smoother, passing seemed better too.

Well I've went on long enough. Big up the xbox version

Can't comment on the xbox graphics yet as the default scart cable for the xbox makes the game look rubbish compared to my patched ps2 pes4 using a good scart.

I much prefer playing the game on ps2 but have been playing online every night since friday as it's good to play different people... even though some twits quit when they're losing.

After I get my new xbox scart cable and someone figures out how to get the L1/L2 issue sorted along with the lag and then we'll see.

Yeah, zyg, you know what, even with a scart, well the one i am using, the graphics on the ps2 still seem to be better. Now i dunno if its the graphics or its the colours (faded look on xbox) that is giving the illusion that the ps2 version looks better. But I think what konami have done is kept the graphics core, and removed some of the polish that was on the ps2 game. Just to try and optimise data transfer during online matches. Obviously the higher the graphics quality is likely to be, the less smooth/laggy the game would be. But there are still performance issuses so i dunno.

Also, i really do think that there is no central server and that konami opted to simply connect peer to peer, causing a de-sync with connections. Bit surprised by that, as the whole point of live is to make use of microsoft server technology which is quite good, but not used.

Oh well I have mixed feelings about this game, but offline it does feel slicker, ticks along at a smooth framerate, and it isnt too bad with an xbox pad, it's just getting used to the "no r2" Still a little awkward using the black button.

So Zyg are you saying that the lag spoils the game?
Because I was thinking of getting it.

Well it depends, sometimes the lag is tolerable, however it can creep up at crucial times, like for example, when a forward is rushing on and you need to get a foot in before he pulls the trigger, and you have to hit the button twice!! by the time you have done that, you are picking the ball out of the net. You just have to work harder when you arent hosting the game.

PS2 version all the way.

Reasons:

The graphics aint washed out
The control system works
Oh and what happens if your Xbox HD fails? Mine has numerous times, you think im gonna edit all over again, no way dude.

I can't comment on which is better cos i haven't played the xbox version yet, but i can comment on the comments....

First up, don't think of lag on xbox live as a reason to prefer the PS2 version, because it's only an online issue, which the PS2 version just doesn't have.

Also, although your hard-drive might fail, so might your memory card on PS2. Also, you can buy memory cards for xbox, and then copy your data to that as a back-up.

I own the PS2 version, and have played the X-Box. Only difference offline is the lack of lag during corners etc on the X-Box compared to the PS2. To be honest though, control setup is a lot more important than a bit of lag at corners, and the PS2 control system is far superior. Trying to pick out a pass with two players closing in and then having to stretch your hand apart to press the black button is a right pain in the arse.

As for X-box online, i have enough friends to play someone on my PS2 if i want. so thats not a problem either, and its more fun playing people you know than some random face.

Anyway, thats just my opinion!

I've seen alot of people complain about the black button as opposed to "R2", however, I simply use the Y button instead as the "R2" button and use the black button for through balls.
After purchasing a converter to use my PS2 pad I was annoyed to find that I couldn't map the buttons to replicate the PS2 pad configuaration but I've just had to adapt in the same way I adapted to the Gamecube pad for WE 6 FE.

I don't understand the claims about a "washed out" look. The game looks fine to me on an RGB Scart cable with a quality flat screen TV. It's much smoother than the PS2 version which I find to be "rough" looking and the framerate and terrible slowdown turn me right off.

Interesting suggestion. I will definatley try it. But if you use the y button for tricks and black button for through balls, assuming you always want a finger on the R trigger you are going to have the same problem, no? Say you are dancing through some tackles with the y button, you then have to adjust your hand to reach the black button when you want to release the ball ?

Anyway, I accept what you are saying about the need to adapt. But at the end of the day the PS2 controls are vastly superior and that clintches it for me. I guess it will need some getting used to. I usually play on 4 stars on PS2 (...I just ain't that good at it...) but on Xbox I find 3 stars a challenge.

Incidently, adapting to use the Gamecube controller on WE6 FE was a lot easier becuase the R2 was mapped to the Z button which is not that much different.

PS2 for me as the perfect controls make up for the slowdown.

Definitely the Xbox. Owning both versions, I cannot think of anything the ps2 version have over the xbox version? The xbox version has superior graphics, no slowdown and online play. Easy choice. If the controls are too hard just spend £10 on buying a Dreambox adaptor so you can use ps2 controllers.

I understand what you are saying but I haven't found it to be a big issue...its not ideal but perhaps now I simply choose my through balls more wisely. It would be great if they could release a patch to overcome this but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I prefer the Xbox version (loving the LIVE right now!) but see what you say about the controls......I have a Dreambox convertor on the way. The control is only an issue to PS1/2 Pro Evo players (us veterans), as you're/we're used to that control system. People who are just getting Pro Evo now, for Xbox, won't know any different control system and will get used to it immediately.

X-BOX version imo...no slowdown is a major plus in my books..and live while it isnt perfect..its still fun
