It would be totally remiss of me not to post this considering my avatar. A real piece of art in my eyes this one, nice to look at and nice to listen to.

It's a shame that there has recently been an announcement that there will be NO sequel.... thanks to EA.

BTW, you can download the theme song from the PSN store for free. Not 100% sure, but I think it's only the American store that does it.

No sequel?

While I thought the combat was a little dodgy at times, the concept of the game was brilliant and the flow of the game was incredible. There was somewhat of a learning curve, especially for the more difficult maneuvers, however it was still accessible. It just seems like a stupid decision. EA tends to churn out the same old crap, but then every now and then comes out with some gems of originality, e.g. skate and Mirror's Edge.

The biggest trick they missed with ME was not giving the user a 'Free Roam' mode. Just allowing the user to freedom of the city to practice their running and maneuvers.

Still, EA, c'mon. Idiots.

Man i loved every aspect of Vice City..From searching for dolphins/sharks, driving along the pier (next to the lighthouse) in a golf cart watching people dive out the way and into the water and drowning! :D Or the Bike mission where you have to drive over jumps from rooftop to rooftop to put a picture of Candy Suxxx up on one of the buildings. Driving through the military base or driving a sanchez around the roads outside the airport jumping of a jump and trying to land onto of trucks lol.

Man i love that game.

Lance Vance Baby..

They could have made such a huge improvement in ME2, especially if you consider the huge improvements between Assassin's Creed an Assassin's Creed 2. Both games were ambitious projects, so the first games were sort of a "trial run".

I reckon EA want DICE to concentrate on churning out Battlefield sequels year after year, in an atempt to combat COD.

I've got the song Ali. In fact I've got the full length instrumental version and about 5 remixes too!

I've done some digging and the sequel hasn't been canned, its been 'postponed' for the time being. The Dev team at Dice were pulled to work on the Battlefield series. Mirrors Edge 2 hasn't officially been axed yet and like the next Hitman game will be kept on the shelf until other and newer projects are completed. Its totally absurd as both games would rake in shit loads of money so god knows the thinking behind these decisions.

Yeah the combat was quite tedious at times and some of the ealry evels where you ran around inside were quite shit - although these improved further on in the game.

I'd love to see an open world Mirrors Edge parkour game, it would be an immense experience but I wonder whether this has even crossed the minds of EA.

Both pretty recent, but I couldn't think of any others that hadn't been posted.

Btw, Sminky, I hope you're right about ME2. It'd be such a shame if they didn't make a second game, or, indeed, make it into a series.

I found this Bammers, it certainly appears EA were concerned enough to release this statement after it was being reported Mirrors Edge 2 had been axed.

VideoGamer.com said:
EA has called Mirror's Edge "an important franchise" in a statement issued to US video games website 1up.

The publisher's statement comes in response to a report suggesting that development of Mirror's Edge 2 has been cancelled.

EA, which recently released a sequel to the only moderately successful Dead Space, said that it has "nothing further to announce" and that Mirror's Edge developer DICE is currently working on Battlefield 3.

VideoGamer.com Analysis
It's certainly true that DICE has a lot on its plate at the moment. The studio is known to be working on Battlefield 3 and a third game in the Bad Company series seems like a certainty given the second game's success. Perhaps there's no room for Mirror's Edge 2 at the moment

I think more towards the autumn of 2012 myself but hopefully Eidos would have released Hitman 5 to tie me over by then (many fingers crossed)

Well I read that there's going to be a sequel to the recent Medal of Honour, so maybe EA will draft the Mirrors Edge team for that aswell..

Damn. 2013 looks a good call then all things considered. I can't wait that long though - I'll be grey as a badger by then! :eek:hmy:

Dice made the online for Battlefield BC2 and will be doing Battlefield 3. Dice also did the online for the recent MoH realise, not sure if they've been hired to do the new MoH like TH14 suggested. Research is needed :).

This was the article I found saying it has been canned:

playstationlifestyle.net said:
We found out quite some time ago that Mirror’s Edge 2, by EA, is still in the works for the PlayStation 3. But according to reports yesterday, the game is apparently on hold until future notice. Turns out there is some new reports that are even worse than the title being held back.

When speaking during an interview, Patrick Soderlund of EA had this to say on the sequel:

EA was shown a prototype, but declined with askance.

The project has been stopped – involved parties at DICE are working on something else now.

This is definitely not good news for fans of the series. While the original game did have a few flaws, it is still one of the most innovative first person perspective titles to hit consoles in quite some time.

Ah but that confirms what I read elsewhere, the project has been postponed - but not axed.

There will another Mirrors Edge game. It just could be sometime off from happening :)
