Finaly YES Finaly...I've sussed it!
Ok, this ones for those having problems with Vista Ultimate x64.
After months of struggle trying to apply the mighty Deckz patch I came to a holt and could not take any more mental strain. I was spending hours and days trying to solve my problems patching and game crashing of PES2008 on mu Windows Vista Ultimate x64 machine. I came to ripping my hair out of my head with no light on the end of the tunnel. So I used the old mthod of switching back to PES2006. After playing on my friend PS3 I decided to give it another go, so I bought a new Harddrive and installed Windows XP Professional with a fresh version of PES2008 as I could resist the new gameplay engine.
I then installed the Deckz " best in the world patch " and Walaaaa, it worked like a sexy bitch. I started playing hours of fun and endless fun and more fun of a game with the cool looking patch. Only thing was I had to swap harddrives everytime to use Vista.
I then thought to my self "what could this silly bug be that keeps causing the problem of crashing and patching issues"? I tryed all sorts before but this time took it step at a time, and this is what I did.
1) Re-installed PES 2008 on Vist x64 HDrive
2) Then deleted the img folder after installing and tried running the game from DVD, obviously it wouldnt work as the files were missing from programfiles.
3) replaced the files from the DVD back onto the HDrive, img folder.
4) Ran the game but still crashed everyime I went to prem league or other leagues apart from international games, they seemed ok.
5) Still no joy even with fresh file in the img folder from the disk.
6) Strange...Now this copy is my second one of PES2008 just to make sure, i covered almost every angle, the volleys the long shots the step overs damn there was no winning goal....
7) UNTIL! I tried this.
8) The game being fully installed I went into program files /KONAMI folder and right clicked on the pes2008.exe file that launches the game.
9) I then chose run as administrator.
10) Strange...the game loaded up and when i went to the exhibition match the xbox pad had appeared just like the original install with all the emblems as fake ones that come with the game. I selected english league and it worked (no crashes). I then select Man United Vs Arsenal. No problem.
11) played a full game and no crashes.
If you have probs with Vista try what I have done.
Happy Bunny!
All I know is that patching on PS3 is "currently" very limited.
