i hear you... Im the same, I love defending and locking people up. I need more time with the game, and need to make better adjustments on Defense.... May I ask, how do you defend? Do you keep you backline deep or forward? man mark? what formation ?

actually you're right, its zoomed out more, I think its more like 2010 rather than last yaer. my bad on the bad info!

I usually play 4-5-1 or a 4-2-2-2 and use a standard backline with sometimes opting for offside traps. zonal marking is key in this years addition as it was severely lacking last year. If an opponent is smart enough to swing the ball around and get a 1 on 1 i man mark and slightly call for help and back pedal. Timing has become crucial for getting the ball off good dribblers, again something that lacked last year.

I posted this in the MLO thread, but I figured I would post it here too. Since this is where the negativity resides.
I love MLO. I really do, but I just had two matches end because of poor connection to the other user, and it charged me with disconnecting. One more, and I am not allowed to play in competitions. That will really piss me off if that happens.
I hope that Konami will fix that because, I live in the USA and sometimes I will be playing people from Japan, therefore the connection is poor. I shouldn't be held responsible for poor servers.

hey, like I said yesterday, I needed more time with the game.... Last night 6 online games.... 4 wins, 2 draws NO losses.... Allowed 2 goals in those 6 games and only one in open play. Now thats more like it!

MLO - I think the balance is out of whack because of the fact that players who are speed merchants are too unstoppable. It ruins the game when all the goals are dribbling goals through the entire team and a rounding of the keeper. Needs to be addressed in a patch big time IMO.

I thought the same thing 2 days ago but now I think the game is fine, the speed merchants are very stoppable. We are used to playing defense a certain way, in 2011 you could play up with your defense, You could cheat and still recover and stop the speedsters like Messi, Ronaldo etc because of the catch up bug in that version. This year you have to becareful, stay back and try to push them off the ball with X and trap them with R2 to take the ball from them. Look at my scores from last night, all those teams I played against have speed merchants but non of them really did much by their running because I figured out how to close them down. Trust me, once you figure it out you'll be fine.

DIECI - Still, I have strong defenders and DMF, above 80 even 85 body balance, 80-85 speed, 80 plus defense, 80 plus responsiveness, and five players all swarming C Ronaldo can't stop him from dribbling from past half though the team and scoring. They are all over him but he's like superman. I guess it's players with stats like his, not just the speed merchants that are too superhuman.
Also, I consider the fact that players like him can score easy goals by rounding the keeper every time a glitch. In contrast it's too hard to score one on one with the likes of Di Natale with 95 shot accuracy. Having a speed merchant is too rewarding IMO and needs to be toned down or else the longevity will suffer for me anyway.

Played demo countless times and try as I might I don't like it. The fact that Jon Murphy said demo 2 is the retail version makes me even more disappointed. So much so I have cancelled my pre-order that I made in June. Yes they will patch keepers but the whole game just dont feel right.
As a fan since ISS on SNES I'm gutted that my love of pes is pretty much over. They won't nor get anywhere near pes 4,5 or 6 and that's a shame.

yea they need to balance out the speed merchant thing. Its better than last year but still kinda lame. Especially because if you are defending 1on1 against a speed merchant and call for help, the runner just takes the help defender with him as i m backing up. And if i do go into make the tackle, 2 defenders will end up running with the speed merchant. Its way to easy to go in and out like idiots.
Crossing is way easy. Instead of circle x 3, u can go to the corner and hit circle once and the ball lands on cfs head.
Also fouling its way too easy, run into ppl as a defensive strategy. Maybe a foul count on a specific player like 3 fouls get a yellow should be added in.
