well that's not exactly what i meant :p, because for some reason on the game, liverpool are in the CL, and i didn't want a CL team, so i chose a newly promoted team, didn't want QPR cause i thought their team was already quite good, and i just prefered swansea to norwich :p

Ha I know what you mean, I'm only messing!

Here is my rather large squad at the start of my fourth season. The ones with stars are new signings.

Karike* - 74
Fatecha - 73

RB
Ita* – 90
Sutter* - 84
El Moubarki – 72
Guegan – 62 (Transfer list)

LB
Addy* – 84
Tiago Barros - 70
Ruskin - 62

CB
Palsehin* - 84
Hasan Erbey – 72

Mezague – 68 (Transfer list)

RMF
A. Musa - 80
Kiko* - 77

CMF
Tolchotrzyn – 80
D. Jones* – 80
Ettori – 74
Joufreau* – 68
Michel – 64

LMF
Lesoimier - 74

SS

Escobar – 70 (Also play him on the wing)
Birsa – 68 (Transfer list)

CF
Caicedo* - 80
F. Rodriguez - 71
Kramaric - 71

I spent most of my 20 million on Caicedo - 4.5 million transfer fee and 1.5 million in wages! Worth it though - he's brilliant. I've played 3 games this season, drew 0-0 at Sunderland (played most of last year's team due to internationals), won 3-1 against Spurs (they scored a FK for 30 yards...player on the line...no chance, bar and in) and then won 1-0 away against Wigan (missed loads of chances - scored from a corner with a header).

Really enjoying this season so far, I'm dominating games far more and always feel like I've got a goal in me. Don't feel as shaky at the back either - the last three seasons have really helped my defending and with better players I feel I have a decent chance against teams. I lost 5-0 to Spurs at home last year, this year I won 3-1 and it could have been 5-0 to me. Adebayor tore me to shreds last year but I outmuscled him quite easily with Palsehin. I'm gutted I can't play Sutter (84) in a back four with Ita (90), Palsehin (84) and Addy (84) but Hasan Erbey (72) is still good enough at CB. Addy and Ita are fantastic at full back.

If you're struggling to get to grips with the game, I'd say the best thing to do is ride it out. I feel like this every year - I get so annoyed with the first season or so of ML but now I've got quality players in and can challenge the top 4 it feels so much more rewarding than just starting off with United and winning the league straight away. I play on -1 on professional and it's working really well. Last year I played on +2 on top player! The game this year is so different but so much better in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to seeing how I can rotate the squad and keep everyone happy (a few players are already complaining - prima donnas!). Hopefully I can go far in the Europa League and finish in the top 4. Seeing as the best players of last year are left then I'm sure the likes of F. Rodirguez can step in and do a job if need be.

Has anyone had similar games? Anyone bought the same players?

Nice post mate. Sounds like you're enjoying the game.

I play on superstar as FC Copenhagen. Finished 2nd in div 2 after struggling a lot in the first half of the season. Then a couple of loan transfers did the job and i won the last 4 matches that season. Thanks to Dame N'Doye who scored 17 goals in 29 matches and Roux as well i secured promotion. Then i was forced to sell N'Doye for 4 million euro since i needed the money, and because i'm looking to create a team with only scandinavian players.

I decided to play in the french league as div 1, and i'm struggling more than ever. Think there's around 6 matches left, and i'm 13th in the league even though i've made some decent signings. However after the patch it seems easier to defend now, so it might get better next season when my new signings start to develop their teamwork etc.

Would really like to know what formations, strategies, tactics etc. people are using to beat the cpu?

Is there i tactics thread or should we make on perhaps to seperate the topics?

All out defense - Use the all-out attack tactic and formation on simple settings

Possession Game - Use the long-ball or all-out defense tactic and formation on simple settings (If the coach says it's best to stick to our strengths than their weaknesses, use long-ball. If not, use All-out Defense)

Quick Counter - All out defense tactic (If it says they use the physical route 1, then use 'out wide(Defensively)'

All-out attack - All-out Defense tactic and formation on simple settings

Long-ball - Use Possession Game tactic and formation on simple settings

Btw, Rasmus, which league are you playing in so i can give you more tips on tactics?

how do you guys get different players in your youth team - my youth team has remained the same or do you need to buy players from youth team so there is space for more youngsters?

Hi Abu97,

In JANUARY midseason transfer window, CHECK Youth team, some
NEW players will show up. Youth team players who are 20 years old
(or over) have gone or will be gone and new players will replace them.

But some players who are already 20 yrod are still in the Youth team
playerlist..... , dont know why.

I dont think you need to sign youth players to make spaces for NEW
youth players to come up.

IMO, most of NEW youth players are not worth signing because of their
poor OVR stats, especially if you have maximum team funds, LV5 scout and activated master negotiator, there is no need to cultivate or nurture youngsters who will take years to develop well, just buy some
existing talented young players like SANTON, DAVID LUISE, trust me,
they worth the high transfer fees you pay for.

I also found out that a new youth team doesn't come at your first season

In terms of tactics, I'm playing:

-------GK--------
RB - CB - CB - LB
----DM ----------
-------CM--------
RMF-----------LMF
------SS----------
---------CF-------

Works quite well, I just use quick counter default most of the time. I hardly ever man mark, only when the opposition have one main target man e.g. Bent. I mark them with my DM.

I always play keep ball around the 75-80 minute mark if I'm only 1 goal up and tend to sacrific a CB for a AMF/CF in the last 15 minutes if I'm losing.

My general tactic is to just play into space...wide, central, wide...look to play it to my CF/SS feet, turn and shoot. If there's no space I look for the 1-2 wide and hard and low cross (not as effective this year). I shoot from freekicks about 25 yards out, any less and I'll pass it around. Never lump it into the box, apart from corners.

Update on my game:

Drew 1-1 at home to West Brom, ugh, then got beat 2-1 away at Panathinaikos when I didn't deserve to be. I feel like I'm becoming too complacent, I don't know the new players well enough too and just think they're good enough without getting the basics right! Hard to adjust to using good players sometimes! I also think my squad is too big...saying that I have 3 games in 6 days soon!

I scraped past Villa away 1-0, which felt great, but I still didn't really play well enough. Fourth in the league at the moment, on course so far! I want to challenge for #1 really but don't think that'll happen this year. Dropped too many easy points already.

I love these spells in games where you struggle for 10 games only for it to click and go on a winning run - it's very realistic in the sense that you can be a world beater one game and bottom division strugglers the next.

^^^^^^Drenthe is a great player. Try using him for long shots and crosses as he is soooooo deadly. The only person i can rely on in my team if I need a goal in the last min or i have a corner in the last min

Thanks Abu. French league. almost every team play with 3 strikers.
I restarted ML because i accidently overwrote my ML with my BAL. So unlucky - How ever it seems like Premier League was waaaaay more easy than French League!

Came back to PES 2012 yesterday after a break, waiting for a new patch, so after I installed patch 1.02, or whatever it's called, I started up my ML from where I left off.

I'm finding the passing a little better, the weight of the ball seems much more realistic, which is also noticeable when shooting. The Refs don't seem to blow at every challenge although the dodgy freekicks are still there that my opponent's seem to get in the dying minutes of games.

I have only played about 5 games, but from what I have seen, it does seem to be an improvment over 1.01 and 1.00.

Beating Chelsea 2-1 at the Bridge is my highlight match, my LMF Bullot scoring a rocket from 25 yards out which came off the crossbar and in to get me level, certainly made me punch the air in delight, before Heeders coming off the bench to score the winner with minutes to spare.

Wasn't all sunshine and rainbows though, getting beat for the 2nd time this season off Man City, this time at home and only being able to pick up one point off both Wolves and Villa, keeps me in 15th but 10 points off the drop.

My Chairman is being his delusional self asking me to play my 3rd place keeper for at least 30mins which I did against Chelsea and after he let the 1st goal in after 6 minutes, then Chelsea hitting the woodwork twice more with him rooted to the spot on both occasions, I decided to make the switch to my number 1 keeper.

Not seen too much scripting yet although it's still there. But if I start playing too many games where opponents Shot to goal ratio is 1:1, it might be time to put PES 2012 to bed for good. Don't mind the odd game like that as it can happen, but before I had my little break last time I went 4 or 5 games where teams were having the exact same amount of shots as goals.

Playing with Portsmouth FC.

-Season 1-

Started with 4 million (2 million when you remove the club operating cost).

Invested in athletic coach lvl 3 (1 million guy) to have form up and win more games. :)

In my first season I won the Npower championship and somehow magically won the fa cup in final against arsenal (played this season on professional with 1.01 patch). :D

-Second season-

Playing on top player and with jenky's patch in second season. :)

With money earned in 1st season, in 2nd season i hired all lvl 5 staff except doctor and scout (lvl 3) and invested lvl 3 in youth team and fan club.

Currently 10th in Premiership in my second season in February. :)

Managed to reach Europa League knockout phase on goal difference thanks to Valencia who beat me far less then Sporting or Valencienes. :) THX Valencia for selling half the team! :p

A few days back into PES2012 after patch 1.02.

I've gone through the mid season Transfer Window. Decided to stick to what I have rather than trying to solve problems in areas I felt needed work. Want to save a bit of cash for the end of the season.

But now some of my players are knitting together well, passes are sticking and being played into the players runs, rather than losing possession because the ball is played behind them rather than into the path that they are running in. Dare I say it "Sometimes it's free flowing football"

So here is my question my PES gaming friends:-

The longer you own a player, does that improve the way he WORKS with his teammates?

I hope so because some of my guys are really clicking now, especially in the final third. Although I'm not scoring as many as I would like, some of the moves I'm pulling off deserve a "Replay Save" themselves.

Yes, the longer you own a player, the more his teamwork stat increases. However, if he isn't playing frequently, his teamwork stats will go down.
Also, if you didn't know, teamwork stats means how well a player connects with his teamwork.

So if you want to improve teamwork, play your players constantly

Just got to the January transfer window. Playing some great football and getting excellent results - it may be time to move up to Top Player. I'm enjoying things at the moment so don't think I will.

After losing my first Europa League game to Panathinaikos, I won the next 5! The other two teams in my group were against AZ and Saint-Étienne. I hammered St Etienne 8-0 away from home! However, the following game I lost 4-1 at Arsenal so it's certainly not plain sailing for me on Professional.

I'm currently second in the league, 2 points behind Chelsea, having lost 3 games, drawn 3 and winning the rest. I've qualified for the Europa League latter stages and I'm in the Semis of the England Cup.

Highlights include:

Beating Man City 3-2...I was 2-1 down at half time but managed to play really well in the second half. The first real sign that I felt I could challenge the top 2/3.

Coming back from 2-0 down away to Arsenal and win 3-2 in extra time in the second round of the England Cup. Scored on the 85th, 90th and 98th minute. Played keep ball for the rest of the game! I rested most of my first team too.

Coming back from 2-0 down to United at home in the league, drawing 2-2 with a 90th minute equaliser.

Winning 8-0 away to St Etienne as above, along with beating Swansea 4-0 in the England Cup Quarter Finals with a second team.

Winning 5-0 at home against Norwich after losing 4-1 to Arsenal away.

Reasons I've gone on a run? Mainly because I've changed to a 4-3-3 formation, with a flat back four, a CMF with a RMF and LMF playing in more central positions and playing a LWF, RWF and a CF - that way I've got three overlapping wide players, but my RMF and LMF can stay central or push wide.

Also realised that I can't play with Caicedo up front - he doesn't make the intelligent moves that Federico Rodriguez does. Rodriguez has scored loads for me, despite being a 72 rating, 10 below Caicedo. I've played Caicedo wide and started Rodriguez pretty much every game. I've just sold El Moubarki for 500k and bought Roux (CF) for the same price. Won't make any more signings though. I leave out better players too, C. Benitez, 78 rating, doesn't get a look in because a SS doesn't fit into my style of play anymore. I play with the players I'm most comfortable with. I think that's important.

Noted that my youth team are really good now - I've got players in the late 60s and early 70s - but they just won't get in my squad! Thinking about promoting a CF and LB who are rated 71 - but they'd even be 3rd choice, and no doubt the chairman will want me to play them in a big game.
