It is happening again
We played alright last night, some good football at times. Even [MENTION=163836]Mak[/MENTION] stayed in position most of the time, though he did pop up in the centre forward position a few times when playing left back. :tongue:
That volley scored by Phats was a peach, as was his diving header. Still can't believe some of the luck with our AI. It pisses me off so much. Other teams don't seem to get that, perhaps they all play with an ANY?

I was wondering why we never use our mics anymore? It may help with our communication on the pitch, and who knows - perhaps eventually propel us to D1 glory?

I've played 46 games in defence nearly all at CB so I can't be all that bad positionly. 63 up front, 94 in midfield and like I said 46 at the back. You seem to only ever want to play in the cushy offensive positions.
I'm happy to take criticism on board but this is just a nonsence making it out that I'm just selfish doing what I want. Constructive criticism like me saying you have slow reactions and poor vision.
That what you mentioned yesterday about me always wanting to stay on screen is still baffling me.

Regarding mics, I always have mine sitting by my side when i play. I think I even played with it on a few weeks ago with no one else mic'd up. I find mics so much easier than reaching down for a keyboard in the few seconds of a break in action.

However, as I have complained before, I get all twisted up at the fact that after we score a goal, we hear the opposition. I want to say great goal to a teammate and the other team hears me, not to mention i don't want to hear their jihaadist or frog voices.

Chill out, chum, I was only saying. For what it's worth, you played well at LB last night, we seemed to link up well on the left (along with Phats). Obviously as a fullback it's a good idea to get forward, but as mentioned you did pop up in the centre forward position on more than one occasion, which isn't where you want your left back to be.
How is it constructive to say I have slow reactions and poor vision? That's practically the opposite of constructive.

Also, you've played me a few times 1v1 and have probably seen how shite I am defensively. If you want me in defence, it's your funeral.

Don't worry, Mak - us team players, who are willing to move around and play unfamiliar roles, in order to accomodate others, always get the stick if we don't instantly adapt perfectly.

I suck defensively, but sometimes I play fullback to allow others to play offensively. Not as much as I used to in FIFA 13 admittedly. I think if you take a full back position, you probably won't hurt the team that bad.

This isn't me saying to Ali he has to play fullback, btw. I'm not telling anyone anything :cool2:

I did pop up in the opponents box when we were desperate for goals in injury time. When Sweey scored the winner in the last match I was right alongside him and if the pass didn't get to him I was there as well. There was another occasion where I was wide open in acres of space near the end of a match but didn't get the pass. O? was providing good cover at times so was not worried about getting exposed in defence and wasn't apart from that bullshit goal when me and phats linked up well and he nearly scored and it resulted me being a few yards off from blocking the cross that they ended up scoring from.
When I play defence I press L1 nearly all match to stay in position.

still burns me up to have learned that only one of two players are coded to jump for a header near the goal mouth. I dont' mind playing defense, but to be there waiting to intercept a cross with a defensive header only to have the AI decide to keep me grounded while the opposing player jumps over my head is demeaning.

Fair enough. I'm sure there was an occasion when we weren't desperate for a goal and you popped up in a CF position, but whatever. I'll leave it.

I never have a problem. I think it might just be your positioning. If you aren't correctly positioned you won't jump to challenge for the header.

I don't think it's all down to positioning. We conceded a goal last night where I was standing pretty much infront and tight to the attacker, smacked the header button about 5 times as the cross was coming in and he didn't move at all. Other times, I'll be in a similar position and will clear with a header comfortably. It's too random.

i agree bish. in fact i read many posts on EA fifa forum about this complaint. EA has even remarked that next gen is the first version where two players are allowed to challenge for a ball in the air.

Playing seasons (even though I've not played it for ages) when I started bringing the keeper out if the cross is close enough I started conceding a lot less. We might get the odd keeper flapping but uou concede less in the long run.
Maybe we should get someone else dropping back on the other post as well if you start doing it more.

I think pressing to head multiple times is part of the problem, press it once when the ball if halfway to you and this seems to have the greatest frequency of success.

Speaking of positioning Ali, at LCM you were very quick to join the attack which can end up squeezing the space in the final third. I didn't mind you overlapping on every so often or making late runs into the box in a Lampard -esque fashion but it was a little too often and too early.

Didn't mind switching and playing LCM though, just say if you want to switch. That said I was struggling at times, find my connection to be poor unless I reboot my router around 10 minutes before playing clubs. Don't have this problem with 1v1.

Good point. Never have this problem even when playing in defence unless I'm not close enough to the play. I don't know what you guys do but I only press head once when the balls near me. I can remember Iron complaining about this a couple of times when he wasn't even close enough to challenge for the header.

my complaint was really that I want a jump button. So I can at least leave the ground when i want to versus the AI deciding it will allow me to jump for a header or stay planted for one.

the basic premise of this entire back and forth is simple - EA has publicly acknowledged that only one of two players in close proximity are permitted, by code, to go up for a header. No matter what Iron does or Iron doesn't
