Lies, damn dirty lies.

The 360 was released in America at the end of November 2005, the PS3 was scheduled to be released in March 06. Just three months after 360, but it was pushed back due to production problems. The PS3 may have only been available to the public for around 3 months, but in truth it's been available to developers for roughly the same time as the 360. Besides, when the PS3 was pushed back most launch games got an extra few months tacked onto their development, so there's no excuse for games scheduled as a launch title like Resistance not to look as good as Gears of War. And it remains to be seen if many games will ever reach the PS3's full processing power considering how expensive it would be to create a game with such values so it probably wouldn't be cost efficient at £40.
Compare the graphics of the 360 launch titles with the PS3 launch titles. You'll see a difference, and you'll see the PS3 has better graphics there.

Anyway, Motorstorm looks awesome. Like here:

F1 looks good too:

I downloaded both demos of F1 and MotorStorm, and I have to say above all, the graphics are breathtaking, literally.

MotorStorm could have been a bit better, the demo only gives you two options with cars and the same race/track everytime gets a bit boring eventually, but its really nice and I can't imagine how good the full game will be.

F1 is class, if you liked the F1 PS2 games, then you'll love this one.

I heard that the Motorstorm graphics are arguably even better than that of Gears Of War. Shame the gameplay's pretty crap. Only 8 tracks :/

Well said, if a development team was to make a game to reach the full potential of the PS3's powers they probably wouldn't make any money from it. Thats why alot of developers are now not exclusive to PS3 due to the 360 being cheaper and easier to produce games on.

Also off a site I read that several games (can't remember which) sold half the units on the PS3 compared to 360 over the same time period for the release dates of each console. Therefore 360 are catching up with the PS3, and may even win the console war.

And before any fanboys go crazy, I'm not a fanboy of either the PS3 or 360.

Found this in google.

http://www.vgcharts.org/

X360 9.56m sold
Wii 5.84m sold
PS3 2.08m sold (excluding Europe)

Looks like Wii might win... it's sold so many units and has been out for only a couple of months, where as the 360 has been out for a year and a few months.

I know Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Gran Turismo 4 don't work. There backwards compatibility doesn't look good. Recently released games like Okami, Final Fantasy XII with some issues aswell as Metal Gear Solid 2 and Dragon Quest, Gran Turismo, Ratchet & Clank series and Soul Calibur II not working with some other earlier titles like Final Fantasy X, TimeSplitters 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with issues, it doesn't look good. Some of these games are the PlayStation's most well known franchise yet some have problems or don't work at all. Some of the football or american football games seem to have problems but I doubt anyone would go back and play the old versions again unless they never bought the latest one.

I think the key to the backwards compatability issue is how many of these titles will work after carrying out the firmware update. ;)

The only lie in that PS3 list is the backwards compatability with PS1 and PS2 games.

Everything else is true. ;)

Well that was actually what I was meant to point out but I couldn't be bothered opening it in paint, put a big red noticible red circle round it, upload it etc.

So has anyone actually purchased a PS3 today?

I have mine pre-ordered but can't actually buy it till the end of the month when i get my wages. Now though, i'm thinking of just investing in the Xbox 360. All these bad points about the PS3 are starting to get to me. :erm:

The Next Big Thing
At the London launch everyone who bought a PS3 also received a free 46-inch HD television and a taxi home.

In total, the giveaway amounted to £250,000 worth of televisons to more than 100 gamers.

Lucky bastards.
