A few questions about PES 2013

Hi,

I've been an avid fifa player past couple of years. I mainly play offline, playing career mode (analogous to PES master league).

I recently played the PES 13 demo, and I was actually surprised by how I really liked the gameplay.. It just feels more authentic. I am now thinking about buying a copy of PES 13 for my xbox 360. I have a few questions that I would like to ask before making my decision.

1. I am aware that PES lacks most of the licenses that FIFA has, but with Daymo's option files available online, they can be easily fixed. However, from the demo, I've noticed that some of not well known players (i.e. Nick Powell from Man United) have completely randomized faces...

Does Konami release patches throughout the year to fix players' faces? Or could these be fixed by Daymo's/other patches? If there are solutions to this, specific instruction or link would be great.

2. One of the reasons why Fifa is so addictive is because players stats grow throughout each season, and you can see how they are progressing. Is Master League in PES the same way as FIFA career mode?

3. From what I've been reading online, one of the biggest complaints from PES players is the new boots in PES Master League. What are these boots that are so problematic?

Its great at first but the novelty fades quickly, I'm kinda bored now. The biggest thing for me now is that it needs another button for dibbling and turning in tight spaces like Fifa.
The gameplay is great but those niggles affect you in the long run when you want to do certain things.

Hey Jwinsler7, welcome to PES and the PESGaming forum! :)

Quite like yourself, I'm an Xbox 360 player, and despite being a long time PES fan, I was slightly skeptical this year. I initially rented the game from Blockbuster, and was very pleasantly surprised at just how excellent PES 2013's gameplay was. I enjoyed the demo, but I think it's safe to say that the full game is a slight improvement upon the demo also which is positive.

1. Regarding your first question, I myself have the Daymos Version 2 option file downloaded and installed (it only takes 5 minutes to download and transfer to the Xbox via a USB stick). I do believe Daymos and several of the team working on these option files spend time tweaking accessories, and even faces if needs be, however I've not really looked into what faces have been adjusted and improved if I'm honest. The Daymos Version 3 option file is likely to be released sometime next month as well I think, so I'd imagine there'd be further improvements made to it.

What is worth noting though, is that the edit mode for PES 2013 is very good, and building the faces shouldn't be too difficult, but just perhaps a little time consuming if you aim to edit certain players yourself.

2. This is actually one of my favourite PES aspects; the development and growth of players when playing Master League. I'm sure player development has been present in PES for many years now, dating back to the PS2 days. So yes, you'll be able to enjoy the growth of players, with younger players obviously being more likely to develop at a faster rate. When playing Master League, you also have what's called a "Youth Team", which is essentially a second squad, full of players aged around 16-18. They are Konami built generic players with different names and nationalities etc, that you can draft up to the first squad, and there's some gems to be found in the Youth Team if you play them enough and develop them well. :)

3. The "new boots" feature, is essentially a feature in which you unlock boots through playing the Master League. So for example, if you win a Cup match, you'll unlock a new pair of boots such as perhaps the Puma PowerCat boots. Due to the nature of needing to unlock them, most people's complaints revolve around a lot of players in the Master League wearing plain black boots to begin with, which they feel is detrimental to the realism of the game. Also, the boots you unlock do give slight stat boosts in certain areas (such as speed, shot accuracy etc) to the player who is wearing them, the latter being a key point, as when you unlock a pair of boots, you can only allow one player to wear these boots - you can't just make your entire squad wear the same boots.

However, Konami have accepted that this isn't to everyone's liking, and have announced a new update/patch will be released in the coming weeks to address this. Once the patch is released, you will then have the option when beginning a Master League to choose whether you would like to include the "unlockable boots feature" or whether you would prefer the players to wear their natural boots from the start, e.g. Wayne Rooney wearing Nikes, Gerrard wearing Predators etc. It is worth noting though, that in order to 'choose' yes or no to this feature, you must begin your Master League 'after' the patch has been released in the coming weeks.

Hope this helps Jwinsler7. :)

PES has always been the simulator while Fifa has always been the game .With that remark about authenticity to the real game i am kind of suprised you have been with fifa so long and are looking to switch over now just when most are saying fifa has overtook pes as the football game of choice (though not me)

1 There are a host of 3rd party option files and patches etc which make the license issues redundent, as well some people actually go out of their way to create these players accurately out of their own time and with great professionalism, using Konamis superb editor

2 Yes in ML as well as BAL players stats change with age and develop

3 compared to the 2012 ML formant, this new format makes the whole thing less authentic as gone is the player to manager interraction gone is chairman challenges, and many other aspects replaced by a cheesy system using items including boots to enhance player stats,,, this is a step backwards, especially as the manager section actualllyy worked rather well though it was limited, expanding and enhancing these features should of been the way to go

Hunter and all those who play this game on xbox 360,

Is there a way you could add your own music to the game? I heard the PS3 version has this feature, yet xbox doesn't... There are only 8 songs in this game. Three songs are good, yet all the others are not that great. They get extremely repetitive and annoying after a while. I just ended up turning off the whole background music. It would be nice to add my own music, but I don't really see any possible ways to do this for 360.

Since we can't add our own music, I am also assuming we can't add the customized chants to the game? Again, I've found these customized chants for each team for PS3, but not for 360.

oggmeista,

If I were to be objective, neither Fifa nor PES fully captures the authenticity of actual football. But, after playing fifa for a couple of years, I just found the Fifa gameplay to be repetitive and ridiculously face paced. It's starting to feel like a completely different sport. Fifa is a fun game to play with friends online, but for someone like me who enjoys playing career mode (master league) offline, then PES is definitely superior.

I haven't played PES long enough to comment much on the game, but so far, I am impressed by the gameplay. I kind of wish I had a PS3 rather than a 360 for this game though.
