A fifa players review of pro evo 2011

I've been playing fifa instead of the pes since fifa08 just because of the fact pes sucked big time, it lost it's mojo & more importantly it's title of king of football

I have to say I've enjoyed the fifa experience of the last few years, graphics good, gameplay good, mangers mode filled the hole left by master league.

Then this years installments came out, you know your going to get a top game from fifa, improving on the fifa10 & the world cup engine, I was looking forward to it big time.

Pes on the other hand, I was just hoping they were getting back to something like the old days, to try pick themselves up from the poor outing of the last few years.

Which leaves me only one thing to say ........

PRO EVO 2011 is bar far the best football game I have ever played, the king is well & truly back. Fifa needs to watch there backs closely.

Both are not perfect & I could write for hours about there flaws, but playing pes is like a breath of fresh air, fifa feels automated, top players don't feel any different to lesser players, shooting feels helped by the CPU, passing feels unrealistic, but pes, you do a pass out of place, or one on one with the goalie only for you to place it high & wide, it's because you have done it, but when you nail those 5 passes outside the box, ending with a delightful chip into the box & you smash a volley into the back of the net, you know it's down to you, your skill had done that, not the CPU as it feels in fifa & there is no better feeling.

But as I said I could go on for hours so I'll stop there but if anyone reading this & is unsure which game to get, from someone who has played both.... If you want rewarding when playing the game, feel like you are in total control?.....

Pes is the game for you.

Pes 2011 score 9/10
Fifa11. Score 6.5/10

Scores are based on only the football match engine, nothing else!

This is my opinion & others may not feel the same, I just thought I'd have my say.

Konami.... Thankyou

I agree that scoring a goal on PeS 2011 does give you a better feeling than in Fifa, but I think that's always been there even in past, albeit poorer PES outings.

I do think Fifa is a better game for the masses, it's easy to get into and you are bound to score a goal on your 1st game as long as you play on a difficulty matched for you. What this years PeS has done is made a lot more of the build up play as thrilling as the goals themselves, thanks to the new passing system.

In Fifa, if that through ball doesn't quite make it through or your attacking passage of play ends up with you messing up your shot, you probably swear at the TV a few time before throwing your controller into row Z. In PES when this happens you'll put your hands on your head saying "awwwwww" then replay it anyway because you were awesome before the final ball. I love that I really do.

First of all, in Fifa, you can pick it up and basically beat the computer with ease on the hardest level. PES has a learning curve this year, which has made the game far more enjoyable. I agree with the goal scoring in PES, it feels great haha. I scored a goal in the last minute playing the MLO, and was jumping about my room like a big girl! PES has definitely won back its crown with this years game. All of my mates play Fifa all the time and have went out their way to buy PES because Fifa hasn't been satisfying enough. Konami have done something right this year for a change.

I wouldn't say you're in "total control" playing PES, just yet.

I mean, there are times when your AI team mates do things for you that you don't want them to like make a challenge or hoof the ball away (and even into the net by mistake) when you'd like to just control the player yourself and make your own decision.

Using the manual pass is fun, though, and helps you to play a pass with pin-point accuracy.

Overall, the passing and shooting in PES is better than FIFA, and when you're talking about a football game, they're two big things to have in your favour.

Oh, and crossing - let's not forget crossing. The low cross (triple tap) is a joy to behold.

I wan't sure whether or not to get Pro Ev this year but I'm glad I did - its excellent.

However penalties still suck and the 'Game Plan' menus aren't as clear/good as they used to be, but overall Pro Ev 2011 is top notch.

Have always enjoyed scoring goals in PES far more than in FIFA, even when the PES games were bad. Fair play to FIFA though, they have upped the mark the last few years and its great we can have 2 good football games now.

i owned PES2010 last year, and played it throughout. then after i played FIFA10 at my fd's few weeks ago, i understood why my fds had all turned to it. it was much more like a "football game". so i was thinking "might as well get both PES2011 and FIFA11 this year".
then i tried both FIFA11 and PES2011 demos. after that, i told myself "actually FIFA11 isnt as good as i thought it would be, even PES11 is better. no FIFA i guess".
simple as that.
Well done Konami (and Seabass)!

Out of the 2 I prefer pes but FIFA 11 is a brilliant game, if it wasn't so buggy the the near perfect review scores would be justified. Legendary difficulty full manual is crazy hard, pro passing is a mess though, tricks make a difference and are slightly easier to do, ball physics are outstanding, but then online is hit and miss outside of head to head, career mode is bugged, personality plus is excellent. Supposidly an emergency patch is on the way so maybe it will turn out eventually.

No offense to the original poster intended; but cmon?

FIFA 6.5/10
PES 9/10

Did you forget things like the impossibility of taking a penalty kick in PES? The fact that your team mates are retarded & never make intelligent runs?

I'd mention the other things like lack of licenses etc but you've based your rating just on gameplay so I'll stick to that.

I'd say PES2011 = 7.5/10 & FIFA 11 = 7/10

no impossible to take pens you just have to learn how to take them. In PES10 we hardly got any pens so when we finally did we wouldnt know what to do, not we are getting pens alot more and so we are learning how to take them better. Oh an my Team make quite a few runs think u have to turn up the sliders in the game plan part.

I have to say I believe PES is defo back on the right track! I have been enjoying playing PES 2011 this weekend. The days of having tight competitive matches on Top Player are back!

I'm guessing you never bothered to press L1+X in the short time you had the game. I've just completed a Cup of Nations tournament with Ghana and by using L1+X my team mates made some very intelligent runs...

What does L1 + X do? I know if you hold RT after a pass they'll do a run...

I've played both fifa 11 and pes 11 I had fifa 10 so was pretty much geared to to fifa this time around. While at first glance and the first few times you play fifa it feels better after a while it just seems quite predictable. I also feel you get a better experience offline with pes, ML has always been better than FIFA's manager mode and this year they took out some of the best bits from FIFA 10's manager mode. From the brief experience with BAL it seems a lot more in depth than be a pro too.

The only thing I really enjoyed on FIFA was building up my VP.
