Well I fear my thread may die once I've moved. I hope the regular viewers can keep it alive for me while I'm gone...

At least I try to, if I have enough time. :)

I beg your pardon?
Thanks man, I think I have already covered the most pressing issues in the thread so in a way my work here is done, but I would like to come back and see a lot of jMz-inspired-three-formation-setups.
I'm just in the mood to knock one up now, like a final farewell super set up and I meant to add so many club teams to the thread but I never got round to it. My PC is packed up now ready to go (not this one, I don't have the kit on here to do it) so I can't.
I'm thankful for all the feedback, and I'm glad I've been able to help so many people, I am gutted however, I never got an award (although I did get nominated by a few people) for all the work I put in, but hey, it's not the end of the world.
Maybe Hitman could make up an honorary award for me, or maybe I ask/expect too much.

Would u b able to post your current killer formation that you are using right now?

jMz

No I can't, photoshop and my template is on my other PC which is all packed up.
Basically it's a 4-2-2-2 on the default, 2-4-2-2 on Formation A, and 4-1-2-3 on Formation B. All attack.

I'm not a regular viewer but definitely in favour of making this thread a sticky. :D

Your 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 formations (with sweeper) have finally given me the edge against Inter Milan (haven't been able to beat them for a while in my ML). Beckenbauer is an ace using the sweeper system (my ML-team is a late 70's New York Cosmos). Thanks for all the advice and be back soon! :D

I've been begging for it to be made a sticky since its creation, but to no avail. Hitman said he would if it was popular..... (Look at the views and replies count...) ahem

lol, man you could create a hundred formations from those players and postions - just start with a formation you like and then change it as you see fit to suit your style of play. And you can always look at the other formations for tips and guidance.

Pro P.I.M.P try looking through the thread, if he's posted any there's a fair chance they'll be in here somewhere ;)

Blazgaj, how do you like to play because you can then mold your team around your own style.

I wasn't here for a while, but after playing a lot of matches I have one big problem:
When I get a goal against, most of the times it is when my opponent wins the ball and very quickly switches over from defence into attack. Some people are so good at it that I was forced to keep 4 at the back permanently. But I like to play with 3 at the back..... :(
What is the best way to get that tactic out of my opponents game? I tried d-line=c but that leaves a big hole between my defense and midfield and D-line=A makes the lines compact, but with a simple high pass behind my defence creates a one on one with my keeper.
For now I use a D-line =B, Pressing=B, Counter=C , off side =A
I play a lot with AC Milan and my favorite formation with 4 at the back is 4-3-3 . In attack Serginho play left winger Crespo comes from the right, but is a CF and Shevchenko plays at CF (central).
So it is:
GK=Dida
RB=Cafu
CBT=Stam, Nesta
LB=Maldini
DMF=Pirlo, Gatusso
OMH=Kaka
CF=Crespo, Shevchenko
LW=Serginho

Has somebody some good advice about this? Thanks :)

Well, do you use the manual bar? ( under your players name)
Because it helps a lot to set it defensive when losing ballpossesion.
Also stall your opponent, let him come and drive him outwards, so your dmf's have plenty time to come back.
Also, a minor foul can stop the play , and I don't mean flying kicks from behind;)

About your AC Milan formation, I have 2 questions:

1) Why is Sheva in the middle and do you let Crespo come from the right?

Seems to me that speed from the sides is essential, so Sheva would be a better choice. Also, Crespo has a better header,right?

2) Is there a reason you don't use seedorf?

He's very usefull to me and can play on different position.
I'm not to crazy about Pirlo ingame.

By the way, are you the same han as on issextreme?

Yes I am, Davidz, I remember a discussion with you about martial arts, nice to see you back :)
On the subject: I do not use Seedorf because of two reasons: He is bad in through-passes (tried a lot and had a lot of loosing posession) and he is bad in defending, making him choose bad positions.
I put Shevchenko in the middle, because he is the most dangerous attacker. Crespo is also good, but where I use Shevchenko to launch a through-pass at, Crespo is just lesser good in his positioning, but still good enough as striker. But I admit he is the one I have not placed too well.
Your question about using the bars under the players: Well... no! :D The reason is that I am often too late when my opponent launces such a fast counter. What I usually try to do when my opponent has 'normal' posession (not a fast break) is reorganizing my defense and using my midfielders to hold up the attack. But when my opponent uses a fast break, my midfielders are in front of the ball. Then my opponent uses a 1-2 to outplay my four defenders and score easily. That's my problem!

Try and replace Cafu, you have enough fire power going forward try a more defensive sideback.

Some might call it cheating but a friendly foul while the opponent is still in his own half shouldn't get you a card and hopefully stop a counter attack, but some people may frown upon that :D

Another option would be to play something like 3 4 3:

------------ Dida --------------
---- Stam - Nesta - Maldini -----
- Gattuso ------------- Kaladze -
--------- Pirlo ------------------
--------------- Kaka -----------
---------------------- Serginho -
---- Shevchenko ---------------
------------- Crespo -----------

Use Shevchenko to run at defenders, Crespo as support, always ready to latch on to a cross or through pass.

Hmm... that's almost a 5-2-3 :)
Interesting to try out. although I am not sure about the centre on midfield; isn't that a bit weak? Do you have any suggestions about attacking and defending arrows in the formation? What about the D-line?

D- line B, set the wide DMs to high defense and with attack arrows towards the centre and slightly back. Give Shevchenko forwards and diagonal forwards toward the centre, the rest are up to you.
