Advice required regarding cheat accusation

Hi All,

This is my first post and I would just like someone to explain this pause cheat if possible. The reason being I was playing in a MLO game earlier (not a competition) and I was getting beat as usual lol so I paused to make a sub ans I got the message "connection to other users has been lost etc" so I presumed something had gone wrong his end because I got the points. Then after starting a new game a message popped up saying cheat from the guy who lost connection. So is this the pause cheat everyones going on about?

I didn't reply to the guy as I was fuming to say the least of being accused of cheating but I will be doing if it turns out this wasn't a cheat. I just wanted a bit of advice first from the experts.

You've got nothing to worry about mate, if you got the points then it could be case of the guy you were playing having issues with his internet connection.

Thanks for quick reply it just pisses me off when people accuse you of cheating - I just can't see the point to be honest because my view is if your gonna cheat you may as well just play offline on the easiest level if you only wanna win.

The worst cheating is where people deliberately score 3 own goals when they are losing and the game is abandoned. Does my bloody head in :realmad:

Not had that yet but I suppose it happens more in competitions which I can never get in

There must be a lot of dickheads playing this game because another thing that happened earlier I was playing a guy in Div 3 and I'm Div 5 - his team was full of decent players and I had a few decent moves and he commented well done, impressive etc. Then I scored and he paused the game and it started to lag my end and he starts sending abusive messages accussing me of the lag and all this crap. I can't see it being that bad as our connection is 50 meg and all that was using it was me playing the game. I wish there was a way of testing your own connection on the game just to find out if it is bad or not. Although I played about 12 games before that one and they were all fine.

Are there many dickeads like this or was I just unlucky - I think I'm gonna start asking everyone I play how the connection was just for peace of mind.

Relax, don't take it to heart and simply ignore the idiots who will always complain about you cheating when they are losing.

With PES 2010, I was accused of being a "lagger" from time to time. I'm still not even sure who it is that people supposedly lag to gain an advantage. i see how one could worsen his connection but wouldn't that just mess up the connection and create lag for both sides??

In pes 2011 online play improved i think in terms of connections.

The only thing that will help with all these issues is having a peer ranking system (like with ebay) where you, if you choose to, can rank those you play against. so when somebody scores 3 goals on themselves to disconnect you give them a bad ranking. overtime, if they keep misbehaving, they will have a bad "sportsmanship" ranking and you can avoid them.

Surely the connection should be tested before each game and then give you the option to continue or cancel the match. I know this won't work with competitions but surely this makes sense. Who would quit or complain then? Also more money for a promotion or better ways to raise it to acquire players.

its a PS3 league they use small teams no cutback goals, no player whoring,no last man hacks a wiered connection is recomended(to reduce the chance of lag) they have members from here(pesgaming) pes rankings ect...go check 'em out it could just install your faith in fair play again and it will improve your game 100%...

There's a way to counter that. When you notice they are intent on scoring an own goal foul them. Then when you retain possession make sure you keep the ball(that's if your good enough) and run the game out. Also make sure to keep the ball around your own half rather than attack otherwise it's easier for them to get their ball in the back of their own net if you are attacking up field.

Problem I had was when I scored my second goal the bastard just scored three own goals from kick off. I couldn't get the ball off him from kick off, bloody annoying.

You can hack down players when they're not on the ball. So from kick off even if one of their players hasnt got the ball and he is on his way running back towards his own box to score an own goal, run up to his players who you are closest to and hack him down and the ref will blow to call it back for a free kick. Keep doing it until you get the ball back and keep passing it around in your own half.

I've yet to come across anyone trying it from the off, its usually when they're getting punished beyond measure and there's no hope that they resort to doing that trick and I can run the game out in the second half by keeping the ball.
