So, it sounds like it is pretty much not just me, and they have ruined some perfectly good gameplay by removing the shoulder button for these moves.
The point is that you can still do the drag back, just tap backwards twice on the controller. The V-Feint is simply where you tap backwards twice (used to be while holding a shoulder button) then while you are in that animation you push forwards and at an angle towards your players favoured foot - sort of like pulling the ball back then quickly pushing it ahead (making a "V" motion with your player and the ball) and you could beat players that way when in tight situations. It was a nice move.
I think the problem is that now that you don't hold the trigger to initiate this, you might get it wrong and then be facing in the opposite direction unintentionally. With the trigger held that meant your player was "safe" to perform this move, because even if the double-tap failed to initiate you would still be facing towards goal as you intended...
I'll try it some more next time i play, but my point is that I used to use it all the time and now I never do, so obviously they have taken a step backwards in this regard by removing the triggers/shoulder buttons from these moves. I'm still not sure what advantage they saw in doing this, though it seems to work okay for the roulette.
