Basic Patching Guide for PES4

(scroll down to see the same guide for WE8:LE)

First of all you need to use your original PES4 DVD to make an image onto your PC and then patch it. And you need a DVD-burner with blank DVDRs.

1. Downloads.
You will need to use these programs

a)DVD Dycrypter,
http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/1011845169/1
http://www.dawnload.net/video_softw...d_decrypter.cfm

b)ppf-o-matic3 (also known as pdx-pom3)
http://www.paradogs.com/download/pdx-pom3.zip

c) CD/DVD burning software such as Nero or Alcohol120%.

d) Plus the PES4 patch you want to use - such as the jonboyo one found here.

Most patches come compressed as rar files so you need to check this thread to find out how to unrar (uncompress) these to give you the actual patch files which are .ppf files.

2.
Create an ISO from your original PES4 dvd game using dvd decrypter or other ripping program.

a) Put your Original PES4 dvd in your PC dvd drive
b) Open DVD Decrypter, go to MODE /ISO / Read
c) Choose your destination folder eg origPES4
d) Press the go button (dvd->Harddrive symbol)

(pic thanks to jag87)

This gives you your original ISO.

3.
Open ppf-o-matic3.

Select your ISO file from above (by clicking on the small disk pic and locating the file in its folder).
Select your .ppf patch file (again by clicking on the disk image).

Click Apply. Wait for the ISO to be patched.
If you also have patch update files, you can now apply them to your ISO as well using the same method. Select the same ISO and the next patch and click Apply.

Read the instructions that come with each patch to see if there are any other methods or techniques you need to use when patching. This is the most common and basic method usually used.

4.
Now you are ready to burn your patched ISO image.

I tend to defragment my hard disk at this point. Then you should shut down all other programs (or better yet, reset your PC).

Open Nero or Alcohol120% and select the Burn As Image or Burn Image option. Select your patched ISO file. Insert a blank DVD-R and set the speed to be as slow as possible as this is better for the life of your PS2 laser. If you use cheap DVDR types and/or fast burning speed, this is not good for the life of your PS2 laser. Set it to burn and leave it for a while. It will take time so be patient and don't mess with your PC otherwise there is a chance that the patched disk won't run.

Once it has burned you can now play your patched version of PES4 on your modified PS2 (using either a chip or a fliptop lid or a slide card - more details on this over here).

If you can follow these instructions, you will soon be playing PES4 looking like this for example:

(thanks to jonboyo's 10th october patch for PES4).

You can get jonboyo's PS2 PES4 patch from here.

This is a basic and simple guide to patch PES4. If you have a dvd-burner and a modded PS2 then you should have very few problems. Post questions and such here and we can try to help you.

You can get reefur's PS2 WE8:LE patch from here (with an update coming soon).

Remember that your image can usually only be patched once. The only time this is not true is when a patchmaker releases an update or a fix for his patch, and in these cases you can simply apply the update/fix after the main patch. But if you want to use a completely different patch then you will need to delete your game image and rip a new one from your original disk - basically you have to start the patching process again. If you have any problems with patching, make sure you start the process from the start as it is common for people to patch their image with several different patches and then wonder why it doesn't work.

I have ppf-o-matic3, Isobuster, Winrar, Dvdscan2 CDmage and a program called Instant CD/DVD burner(part of widows xp software). That should do the trick yes?

Get DVD-Dycrypter from that link above (or use a search in google).
Not sure about your burning program. If it lets you burn ISO images then that will be fine. If you have a DVD-writer then you should be fine.

1. PS2 patches are only for the PS2 version.
2. The PC version isn't available yet so how would anyone know if this patch would work on it?

The answer is No, by the way.

This is the bare basics of patching and it does get more complicated. If you have a dvd-burner and a modded PS2 then you should have very few problems. Post questions and such here and we can try to help you.

Zyglaski mate I want to Patch PES4 but I have two questions.
1)Can I burn dvds on a CDRW(Stupid I know but I've not had a PC since these came in)
2)which method would you recommend as In dont want to get my PS2 modded so Slide tray method or Fliptop lid.

Cheers mate

You can burn onto CDRW if you like but I doubt your PS2 will play them. Mine doesn't.
Flip top seems an easier method but I've not used either (ever) so ask others in that sticky thread featuring all the methods of playing backups (here in the general editing section).

so zygalski do you recommend patching to dvd or cd? it seems dvd can be risky as it damages the laser in the PS2, even though it may be quicker.

so cd is more reliable?

The game comes on a DVD - why would it be riskier to burn on DVD? I've not read anything certain about which is better but in my opinion, DVD is better. Quicker to patch and simpler too.

Follow the patching guide for WE8 to patch WE8. It has a thread of its own. The main process is similar. Check larsson's index thread for more info.

tottenhamfan - Go to the File Downloads section and read the thread for jonboyo's latest patch (30th Oct) and download it using links there. Then apply the patch using the guide at the start of this thread. Sorted.
